Type: TroubleshootingDate: 23 Jun 2008 13:17I have encountered a problem with this new version. When visiting some web sites, images do not always load fully. At times, they load part of the way, with the rest of the image appearing as a gray block. I've gone to the same sites with Firefox, to troubleshoot a little, and Firefox loads perfectly. This problem did not surface until I upgraded to this new version of Safari. Any advice for me here? FYI, I've dumped cache, preferences for Safari, downloaded a fresh version and installed it, and Safari still does the same thing.

Type: CommentsDate: 23 Jun 2008 13:12I have been a long-time Firefox user, and the problems others are having with 3.0 have forced me to wait to install this new version. I have one question: if bookmarks are not stored as HTML and in in its new format, how does this affect Importing and Exporting bookmarks with other browsers such as Safari? I can't find an answer yet to this question. Does anyone know? I love my Firefox 2.0.0.14 and my ability to use Foxmarks to sync between my two Macs.

Type: CommentsDate: 28 Mar 2008 11:43Problem cured! I simply followed the old rule that "There's nothing like a fresh install" of software. I trashed preferences, downloaded and installed Cocktail again, and it works perfectly. Ironically, the developer mailed me directly with the same instructions this morning, after I had corrected the problem. This is a good lesson for us all... when in doubt, a fresh install often fixes all. This is a great program, in my opinion.

Type: TroubleshootingDate: 26 Mar 2008 20:13I have been using Cocktail each evening for a while now, running it in Pilot mode, and having Cocktail automatically shutdown when it has finished. Today, for no logical reason, it stopped automatically shutting down. I trashed its preferences, hoping that would cure it, but it did not. Does the developer have any advice for me here? I'm using the Tiger version, with Mac OS 10.4.11.

Type: CommentsDate: 17 Jan 2008 12:42I have a question for the developer. The information here states: Version 4.0.2 adds support for clearing Microsoft Office 2008 font caches, addresses compatibility issues with QuickTime 7.4. I am still using Tiger. I may update to Office 2008 soon, and am now using QuickTime 7.4. If this version of Cocktail is for Leopard only, how could I get the benefits in this update, for my Tiger version?

Type: CommentsDate: 14 Jan 2008 11:15Hey Alec... thanks for the response. I appreciate your efforts, as well as all developers who create applications for us. As a retired and currently unemployed teacher (with NO income), I am very grateful for freeware available that makes me more productive and makes my life much easier. Your efforts are to be applauded.

Type: CommentsDate: 12 Jan 2008 13:02I have a question for the developer: When I imported my calendar from iCal, the only thing which was not included was my alerts. In iCal, I have alerts set for 2 days before each even, which iCal does automatically for me. With PreMinder, I find myself visiting every event, from birthdays to appointments, and having to do this manually. Is there a way I'm missing, or is that wanting too much?

Type: TroubleshootingDate: 23 Dec 2007 21:25Thanks for the link. I thought the update would work, but didn't want to advise him to use it until I was certain. Firefox is my browser of choice, and your efforts are much appreciated. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Have a wonderful Christmas holiday.

Type: TroubleshootingDate: 23 Dec 2007 14:31I'm using 2.0.0.11 with my Mac OS 10.4..11 and of course, it works perfectly. My friend has Panther, 10.3.9 and when he starts up Firefox, it keeps wanting to download this new update; however, according to MacUpdate, it is for 10.4 and higher. Can this update work with Panther, or is it just for Tiger and Leopard? Please respond. Thanks.

Type: ReviewDate: 11 Dec 2007 12:13I have been a long-time user of OnyX, and it is still my favorite utility. Yes, I do own others (Cocktail, Tiger Cache Cleaner, Mac HelpMate); however, no utility does it all, at once, like OnyX. Joel, Mac users everywhere owe many thanks to you, and to other developers, for your dedication, and for designing a quality product. My Macs run beautifully, thanks to your efforts.

Type: CommentsDate: 10 Dec 2007 14:15Hey, no problem. You have no idea how much we value the hard work and efforts of developers, like YOU. I'm a retired teacher, who cannot afford much in software, and freeware programs are of real help to a guy like me on a limited income. My Macs run well, stay healthy, and are a joy to work, thanks to all of you! Happy Holidays, and much good luck and health to you in the upcoming year.

Type: ReviewDate: 9 Dec 2007 21:19I have the latest update, and this is a very nice little program. It has a lot of potential. I too am unable to import calendars from iCal. I'm not sure what we are doing wrong. I'll visit the web site and search for help. Other than that, it's great.

Type: TroubleshootingDate: 8 Dec 2007 19:35Hi... I just installed the latest update, and it was fine. I tried it on both of my Macs- a G5 with a 20 inch monitor, and my G4 iBook. No problems!

Type: TroubleshootingDate: 7 Dec 2007 14:41Hi Again... My MacUpdate notified me of the lastest version. I'll download it after I return home tonight, and install it in the morning. I'll be happy to let you know after I've installed it. Thanks for the response. It's a nice program, and after I do the update, I'll be happy to write the very good review I believe it deserves.

Type: TroubleshootingDate: 6 Dec 2007 19:44I just installed the new update, and now I am getting an error message, and it will not open at all. Version 0.4.8 worked fine. "Can't specify an empty boundary rectangle" is the message I am receiving.

Type: CommentsDate: 21 Nov 2007 18:26An update from my last comment... I never give up, and after four attempts downloading, the last one was successful, and it installed properly. Be aware of the fact that where the MacUpdate notes state that the file is about 28 MB, the file is actually 51 MB for the update.

Type: TroubleshootingDate: 21 Nov 2007 11:11Well, for the first time in my life, I'm very frustrated with a download. I tried this last night, and it stalled at SmithMicro's site halfway through the download and stopped there. I tried again this morning, made it through, and the dmg file refused to mount. I will NOT spend money on a CD for a download I deserve as a longtime customer of Stuffit and SmithMicro products. Maybe I'm just lucky this has never happened to me before, but I now understand the frustration others have felt encountering this problem with other applications.

Type: ReviewDate: 2 Jul 2007 11:42Of course, the old Command-T does the same thing, but this is easy and quick. Thanks for this little application. It's a nice touch.

Type: ReviewDate: 28 Jun 2007 16:40I have the original version of this game, Version 1.1.6, and I must admit I like the older version better. There are images of human players and playing chips. I have spent time playing both recently to give this new version a very fair shake. I still like the earlier version.

Type: ReviewDate: 28 Jun 2007 13:47This is a cute and simple game, which I do like. I have just one concern: when an update is downloaded and installed, my game lists which were add or created, just vanish. They get erased somehow. If you take the time to create your own lists and/or clues, why should that work to download or create them be erased? Otherwise, I enjoy this little game.

Type: TroubleshootingDate: 21 May 2007 12:28Joel... all has been well with the previous update; however, with this update, when opening OnyX, SMART status check is flawless, but I'm being told on
my Macs that they are not journaled, and they are of course. To avoid this, I have gone to the OnyX Preferences, and "unchecked" this status check to avoid the error message from appearing again.
One more unusual thing, my ISP is EarthLink, and when I sign on to the Net, I get my advanced mail window telling me how many messages I get and showing them to me. After doing a routine cleaning with your new update, that mail window popped up almost totally off screen, on my 20 inch LCD monitor. Luckily, I was able to click and drag it to the middle of my screen where it has appeared since. I'll know if this happens again the next day or two with another cleaning.
I've mailed you before, and as you would know, I really love OnyX. It's my favorite utility for my Macs.

Type: ReviewDate: 14 Mar 2007 10:45I have used several applications in the past to keep my Macs healthy- OnyX, Cocktail, Tiger Cache Cleaner, and Maintenance; however, this little application I have grown to really appreciate. It works perfectly, and has quickly become my end-of-the-day clean-up program. I appreciate the developer's efforts, and encourage them to keep up the efforts in making this a wonderful program.

Type: ReviewDate: 17 Feb 2007 13:17I use Cache Out X on a daily basis, prior to shutdown. It works perfectly, and I appreciate this application. I would like to suggest one addition: It deletes out Safari Favicons. How about the same for FireFox?

Type: TroubleshootingDate: 2 Jan 2007 15:22Hi Joel,
As a follow-up to my problem, I thought I had the problem corrected with the fresh new install- I was wrong. Last evening, when I activated OnyX before shutdown, it did the same thing and opened at the bottom of the screen. I did as you asked, and opened the OnyX preferences, and the S.M.A.R.T. box was not checked.
The problem is on just one machine, my iBook G4 with Tiger, Version 10.4.8 installed. My other Mac is a Dual G5 with Panther, Version 10.3.9 installed, and on this computer, OnyX, with the Panther Version installed on the Dual G5, works perfectly, as always. If there is anything else I can check on my iBook to help you solve this strange problem with the Tiger Version, I'd be happy to test it and help you.
As I said before, OnyX is my favorite utility, and this strange little problem will not stop me from using OnyX. I will continue to use it each day, as always, and have total faith in it. As a Mac user, I appreciate your efforts, and applaud your dedication. I'll keep my eyes open for further updates.
Take care and God Bless,
George

Type: ReviewDate: 31 Dec 2006 20:51I used OnyX on both of my Macs- my G5 with Panther, and my iBook G4 with Tiger. Both machines run perfectly, with much of the credit going to our developer. Joel, your efforts are much appreciated. I use OnyX on a daily basis, prior to shutdown. There are few applications I cannot do without- and OnyX is at the top of the list.

Type: TroubleshootingDate: 31 Dec 2006 20:45Joel, I downloaded a fresh version for Tiger. Next, I used your uninstall feature of all old files, then restarted. Next, I installed OnyX again, and restarted. When I open OnyX, it opened in the center of my iBook screen. I ran a few parts of it, quit, and restarted my iBook. I did this three times, and each time, OnyX opened in the center of the screen, NOT the bottom. There's nothing like a fresh install to cure a problem- right? My iBook G4 with Tiger, runs perfectly, thanks to your efforts.
I have OnyX for Panther on my G5 which still has Panther on it. It works flawlessly. Joel, honestly, this is the best utility, period. We owe you many thanks.
Happy New Year to you too.
George

Type: TroubleshootingDate: 31 Dec 2006 19:04Hi Joel... I'm not sure what you're asking about a Default Folder. OnyX is installed in the Applications Folder. I did a Spotlight Search for "Default Folder" and the only folder by this title is in an Adobe application. I've repaired permissions, checked for corruptions, etc. My next thing is to trash OnyX and install a fresh new download of 1.7.7 unless you have a better idea. Again, this is my FAVORITE utility, and I used it at shutdown on a daily basis. Your efforts are MUCH appreciated.

Type: TroubleshootingDate: 31 Dec 2006 16:33OnyX is still my favorite utility, despite a few glitches. The scripting problem at shutdown has been solved; however, I'm encountering a new problem. When I open OnyX, the log=on window opens at the very bottome of the screen, by the dock, for some crazy reason. I move it up to the top or middle, and the next time I open it, it's back to the bottom again. I've trashed the preferences for OnyX each time, restarted, and the results are the same, back to the bottom again, with the drop-down log-on off the screen again. It's just driving me nuts, that's all.

Type: TroubleshootingDate: 23 Dec 2006 17:23Joel, I'm a long-time OnyX used and love the program. I did find a bug in this new update for Tiger. Using the automated cleaning, when it is done, I usually click Shutdown, using OnyX at the end of each day. When I click Shutdown, I always get an error message, and need to quit OnyX and shutdown from the Apple menu instead. Could you please correct this in a future update?
Thanks,
George

Type: CommentsDate: 13 Dec 2006 12:08I do need advice here. If was suggested that if we have applied the Office Update, which I did on my G4 iBook with Tiger, that we should uninstall the update. I've never uninstalled an update. How do I do so? Also, if the update remains on my Mac, what problems might i be facing?

Type: ReviewDate: 29 Dec 2004 12:35I have used OnyX for quite some time, and feel that this is one of the finest utilities for Mac OS X. I have never experienced a single problem with this program, and I utitize certain aspects of it on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. FYI, I'm using Mac OS 10.3.7. I do own Panther Cleaner, Cocktail, MacJanitor, just to name a few, but I keep coming back to and using OnyX on a regular basis. I have faith in it through experience.
