MACMAN8 Well, I guess I'm left out here. I have a Dual G5, but am using Tiger, 10.4.11, which works flawlessly for me. Unless I move up to 10.5, I can't use this. I do own a 10.5 DVD, but on a 56k dial-up connection, I can't download those huge updates posted by Apple. I guess I'll just need to be content living here in 10.4.11 past, and let my subscription to MacUpdate Desktop expire. (Version 5.0)

MISHA Unfortunately, to make MUD the best app it could be required leveraging technologies and frameworks that Apple only started including with 10.5. We would have loved to support older users to but it would have meant significantly changing the application and reducing its functionality to accommodate what are now a very small % of our visitors. I'd be happy to put your MUD subscription on pause until you one day move to 10.5. (Version 5.0)

GAVIN CUTSHALL Misha is being too polite. I'm sure many Mac fans have computers dating back to System 7, likewise, Windows 3.1 is probably still in the wild. Just because someone, somewhere has old hardware does not mean the march of progress should come to a halt. This is the very essence of why Mac OS is superior. (Version 5.0)

Opera | Oct 28 2009 |
MACMAN8 I share the same concerns voiced in the previous note. One thing that is missing is the ability to Import from and HTML bookmark file from any browser. Another concern I have is that when I install updates of Opera downloaded from MacUpdate, it erases all of my existing bookmarks, forcing me to import them again, and reorganize them my way again from scratch. When updates from Firefox or Safari are installed, bookmarks are untouched. Opera may be a good browser, but these two pesky problems are not worth my continued downloading of updates, unless they correct these two issues. (Version 10.01)

See my post below to MACINEN - you absolutely *can* import bookmarks from any browser that allows you to export its bookmarks as a dot html file. Just do the export as .html from the non-Opera browser, then in Opera, after opening up Bookmarks, go to File >Import and Export >Import Netscape/Firefox bookmarks, and Opera will most definitely import the .html file you saved from Safari, or wherever. Of course, how is a user to know he/she can do this via a Netscape/Firefox import? I only found out by experimenting. So, at the very least, Opera should at have a listing in their bookmark Import Menu to indicate Opera can indeed import a simple .html file! As for wiping out one's old Opera bookmarks, the only time that happened to me was going from Opera 9.x to 10. But after that, installing all the betas of 10.0 and this 10.01 release, I never lost my old Opera bookmarks. I'm not arguing you didn't lose yours -- just reporting my own experience. Perhaps after reading your post, some users will want to take the precaution of making a backup copy of their Opera bookmarks, just in case, but I've never had to do this. Anyway, I hope this helps if you still want to give Opera a try. (Version 10.01)

It is refreshing to know that a developer still cares about our needs as well. I just want to thank you for your efforts, and the fact that you still update Cocktail for Tiger. If I am again unable to get the SR4 download, I'll settle for the Expander update and leave it at that. MACMAN8 I am trying Opera for a while, and noticed one hitch. When trying to import bookmarks from Safari, it was going deep into Safari preferences, instead of allowing me to import the Html Safari bookmarks I periodically export to a backup folder as a precaution. When I attempt to do this with Opera 10, it won't allow it. Therefore, I'm using Opera 9.6.1 which allowed me to use my bookmark backup, and was very stable for me. Any ideas for me here? MACMAN8 I have downloaded and tried several of these types of applications. The one thing I like about this one, which may seem like a very small issue to most, is that when the alarm is finished, a small window remains on your screen, notifying you that it went off. Should you be away from your computer for some reason, you would return and find this window informing you that it did indeed sound while you were gone. Other applications I own merely sound for a few seconds, and that's it. If you should be sway from your Mac, you have no idea it went off. For this reason, I'm using this one. (Version 2.0)

It should have an extension that is '.ics'. Open PreMinder and choose 'Import Calendar' from the 'File' menu. Select the file you saved to the desktop and click 'OK'. Thanks for letting me know. Sorry about the lack of documentation, I develop this in my spare time and the documentation has suffered as I have been focusing on getting the software less buggy. I hope to update the website soon with more (and more up to date) information.

MACMAN8 Hey, no problem. You have no idea how much we value the hard work and efforts of developers, like YOU. I'm a retired teacher, who cannot afford much in software, and freeware programs are of real help to a guy like me on a limited income. My Macs run well, stay healthy, and are a joy to work, thanks to all of you! Happy Holidays, and much good luck and health to you in the upcoming year.

MACMAN8 Hi... I just installed the latest update, and it was fine. I tried it on both of my Macs- a G5 with a 20 inch monitor, and my G4 iBook. No problems! (Version 0.5)

MACMAN8 Hi Again... My MacUpdate notified me of the lastest version. I'll download it after I return home tonight, and install it in the morning. I'll be happy to let you know after I've installed it. Thanks for the response. It's a nice program, and after I do the update, I'll be happy to write the very good review I believe it deserves. MACMAN8 I just installed the new update, and now I am getting an error message, and it will not open at all. Version 0.4.8 worked fine. "Can't specify an empty boundary rectangle" is the message I am receiving. (Version 0.4.9)

MACMAN8 An update from my last comment... I never give up, and after four attempts downloading, the last one was successful, and it installed properly. Be aware of the fact that where the MacUpdate notes state that the file is about 28 MB, the file is actually 51 MB for the update. (Version 12.0.1)

MACMAN8 Well, for the first time in my life, I'm very frustrated with a download. I tried this last night, and it stalled at SmithMicro's site halfway through the download and stopped there. I tried again this morning, made it through, and the dmg file refused to mount. I will NOT spend money on a CD for a download I deserve as a longtime customer of Stuffit and SmithMicro products. Maybe I'm just lucky this has never happened to me before, but I now understand the frustration others have felt encountering this problem with other applications. (Version 12.0.1)

MACMAN8 I have the original version of this game, Version 1.1.6, and I must admit I like the older version better. There are images of human players and playing chips. I have spent time playing both recently to give this new version a very fair shake. I still like the earlier version. (Version 2.0.2)

MACMAN8 This is a cute and simple game, which I do like. I have just one concern: when an update is downloaded and installed, my game lists which were add or created, just vanish. They get erased somehow. If you take the time to create your own lists and/or clues, why should that work to download or create them be erased? Otherwise, I enjoy this little game. MACMAN8 Joel... all has been well with the previous update; however, with this update, when opening OnyX, SMART status check is flawless, but I'm being told on my Macs that they are not journaled, and they are of course. To avoid this, I have gone to the OnyX Preferences, and "unchecked" this status check to avoid the error message from appearing again. One more unusual thing, my ISP is EarthLink, and when I sign on to the Net, I get my advanced mail window telling me how many messages I get and showing them to me. After doing a routine cleaning with your new update, that mail window popped up almost totally off screen, on my 20 inch LCD monitor. Luckily, I was able to click and drag it to the middle of my screen where it has appeared since. I'll know if this happens again the next day or two with another cleaning. I've mailed you before, and as you would know, I really love OnyX. It's my favorite utility for my Macs. (Version 1.8b1)

MACMAN8 I have used several applications in the past to keep my Macs healthy- OnyX, Cocktail, Tiger Cache Cleaner, and Maintenance; however, this little application I have grown to really appreciate. It works perfectly, and has quickly become my end-of-the-day clean-up program. I appreciate the developer's efforts, and encourage them to keep up the efforts in making this a wonderful program. MACMAN8 I use Cache Out X on a daily basis, prior to shutdown. It works perfectly, and I appreciate this application. I would like to suggest one addition: It deletes out Safari Favicons. How about the same for FireFox? (Version 4.7.2)

As a follow-up to my problem, I thought I had the problem corrected with the fresh new install- I was wrong. Last evening, when I activated OnyX before shutdown, it did the same thing and opened at the bottom of the screen. I did as you asked, and opened the OnyX preferences, and the S.M.A.R.T. box was not checked. The problem is on just one machine, my iBook G4 with Tiger, Version 10.4.8 installed. My other Mac is a Dual G5 with Panther, Version 10.3.9 installed, and on this computer, OnyX, with the Panther Version installed on the Dual G5, works perfectly, as always. If there is anything else I can check on my iBook to help you solve this strange problem with the Tiger Version, I'd be happy to test it and help you. As I said before, OnyX is my favorite utility, and this strange little problem will not stop me from using OnyX. I will continue to use it each day, as always, and have total faith in it. As a Mac user, I appreciate your efforts, and applaud your dedication. I'll keep my eyes open for further updates. gdkazacoff@earthlink.net (Version 1.7.7)

MACMAN8 I used OnyX on both of my Macs- my G5 with Panther, and my iBook G4 with Tiger. Both machines run perfectly, with much of the credit going to our developer. Joel, your efforts are much appreciated. I use OnyX on a daily basis, prior to shutdown. There are few applications I cannot do without- and OnyX is at the top of the list. (Version 1.7.7)

MACMAN8 Joel, I downloaded a fresh version for Tiger. Next, I used your uninstall feature of all old files, then restarted. Next, I installed OnyX again, and restarted. When I open OnyX, it opened in the center of my iBook screen. I ran a few parts of it, quit, and restarted my iBook. I did this three times, and each time, OnyX opened in the center of the screen, NOT the bottom. There's nothing like a fresh install to cure a problem- right? My iBook G4 with Tiger, runs perfectly, thanks to your efforts. I have OnyX for Panther on my G5 which still has Panther on it. It works flawlessly. Joel, honestly, this is the best utility, period. We owe you many thanks. Happy New Year to you too.

MACMAN8 Hi Joel... I'm not sure what you're asking about a Default Folder. OnyX is installed in the Applications Folder. I did a Spotlight Search for "Default Folder" and the only folder by this title is in an Adobe application. I've repaired permissions, checked for corruptions, etc. My next thing is to trash OnyX and install a fresh new download of 1.7.7 unless you have a better idea. Again, this is my FAVORITE utility, and I used it at shutdown on a daily basis. Your efforts are MUCH appreciated. gdkazacoff@earthlink.net (Version 1.7.7)

MACMAN8 OnyX is still my favorite utility, despite a few glitches. The scripting problem at shutdown has been solved; however, I'm encountering a new problem. When I open OnyX, the log=on window opens at the very bottome of the screen, by the dock, for some crazy reason. I move it up to the top or middle, and the next time I open it, it's back to the bottom again. I've trashed the preferences for OnyX each time, restarted, and the results are the same, back to the bottom again, with the drop-down log-on off the screen again. It's just driving me nuts, that's all. (Version 1.7.7)

Please, can you try with the "Check the SMART Status..." option unchecked in the Preferences panel? (Version 1.7.7)

I have corrected the bug with the position of the window. If you can uncheck the verification of the SMART status in the preferences, the position is saved. Then... One bug corrected in the future version 1.7.8

MACMAN8 Joel, I'm a long-time OnyX used and love the program. I did find a bug in this new update for Tiger. Using the automated cleaning, when it is done, I usually click Shutdown, using OnyX at the end of each day. When I click Shutdown, I always get an error message, and need to quit OnyX and shutdown from the Apple menu instead. Could you please correct this in a future update?

MISCHIVO I second your comment. After clicking on Shutdown, the program tells me that there is an applescript error, and starts the process of automation again... and suddenly the program loses the "quit" command. (Version 1.7.6)

MACMAN8 I do need advice here. If was suggested that if we have applied the Office Update, which I did on my G4 iBook with Tiger, that we should uninstall the update. I've never uninstalled an update. How do I do so? Also, if the update remains on my Mac, what problems might i be facing? (Version 11.3.1)

MACMAN I have used OnyX for quite some time, and feel that this is one of the finest utilities for Mac OS X. I have never experienced a single problem with this program, and I utitize certain aspects of it on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. FYI, I'm using Mac OS 10.3.7. I do own Panther Cleaner, Cocktail, MacJanitor, just to name a few, but I keep coming back to and using OnyX on a regular basis. I have faith in it through experience. (Version 1.4.9)
