Best Font management ever.. I had liked Font Reserve a lot under OS).. for OSX this is my choice. Mutliple libraries, fast font viewer, activates fonts flawlessly in Flash (which FontExplorer does not in my experience had to relaunch Flash every time I activated fonts). 4 thumbs up (using my feet thumbs as well).

I cannot even start to rate this app. At first it seems wonderful.. yet I keep running into all types of bugs (I'm on a MacPro, 10.5.2). Bugs range from unresponsive text boxes, flawed text wrapping and many many others. At times I'm saved by my backed up files (not the automated ones since each time a file has gone corrupt on me... the automated backup is as flawed as well obviously) at other times I need to just close my file without saving it, reopen it and things are responsive again.. it gets very tiring and stressful. I really wanted something to replace IndDesign (which I used to replace XPress) I just hope this app gets stable or it can really be a misery in a beautiful disguise.. I cannot imagine I am the only one to have suffered this ?!

How an amazing app.. that could be the Graal of design has become one useless piece of crap... DO NOT USE.. Or rather use at your own risk.. As most likely you will end up having to redo everything in another stable app at some point along your design after running in all sort of bugs.. and banging your head against the wall.. This app is dead as far as I'm concerned. Not sure how it fares on PC.. but why should I care ?!!

The developper's site states this: "Leopard differs a lot from the previous operating systems. It appears too much work and commercial not interesting to create a Leopard version of Crm4Mac. We decided to stop development for the moment."

When I pay that much for a piece of shareware I expect the people behind it to be serious... Oh Well !!!

This app would be really great if it remembered which file types I want and do not want it to open... for some reason it keeps on defaulting back to taking ownership of ALL image types... as if the preference box did not work... so for now it's going to the trash as I NEVER want it to open my huge PSD files. If this preference stuff worked as it should I'd love this app.

The day after.. I discovered FLUX last night... played with it... was amazed.. now I'm beyond amazed.. I'm very glad... Finally a webdesign app that is fairly easy to use.. very WYSIWYG.. AND that I can use in complete conjunction with Dreamweaver.. so move over non-teamplayer bloggers-on-steroids Rapidweaver and hardly ever-touched iWEB... move over sorta-cool-yet-clumsy Freeway... and enter FLUX... and Dreamweaver as its "super plugin" when need be. And Flash and bla bla bla...

AS of today I see FLUX as being quite the missing link... Thanks for such a cool and dare I say modern piece of software !

As TUISHIMI I replaced my MacPro Finder with PathFinder and productivity is definitely enhanced and all the frustration I could encounter with Apple Finder have disappeared. I also use DragThing for added power as well as DefaultFolder for the Save windows (unfortunately the sidebar from FInder is not replaced by the FP main sidebar, so to make changes to the Save dialogs sidebar one still has to launch AppleFInder once in a while.

What I'd REALLY find useful is a browser that reproduces exactly the way IE functions since our IE for Mac was left as roadkill, that way I could troubleshoot my web pages without having to go to a friend's (nope I haven't got a dual machne just yet). I shyed away from iWEB since it came out, I must have opened it once to look at it for about 5mn with all sorts of prejudices in mind... wanting to be "cooler than thou"... and turned to RapidWeaver for my easy layouts as the buzz surrounding it seemed just so trendy, but after a lot of heartache with RW (I'd rename it Sluggishweaver...please !!!) I finally gave iWEB a real test-drive this Easter wek-end... and look what hatched out of the rabbit's egg: SURPRISE... I'm wondering why on earth I used RapidWeaver at all. I find iWEB much more flexible... looked at some add-ons and articles as well that help it do more stuff (like flash support, template customization, multisite support..). It is way cool, drag and drop and so on.. damn I wasted all this time on RW... based on some silly emotional issue. STOOPID ME.

I'm back... I'll just tell anyone to be extremely careful before planning to use this... way too many issues with Explorer on PC... so when it is all peachy and sweet on Safari for example.. it is a completely different story with Explorer (PC as it is dead on MAc so we cannot even test it.. nope I ain't got a hybrid machine yet) and we all know 95% of internet users on the planet use Safari... NOT... so think twice ! I'm trashing the plugin.. . I'^ve lloked way stupid in the face of a cleint and this promising plugin has unfortunately brought me trouble and has wasted much of my time.. so I would not recommend it to anyone who needs its pages to fucntion on Explorer on PC..emenaing: everyone basically.

Great today a whole bunch of images in a RW site decided to become tiny for no apparent reason (n changes were made by me on these pages at all.. this is the weirdest part... so bascially I had to redo a whole bunch of pages from scratch as the fie itslef seemed to be corrupted.. by what ? why ? how ? whne ?.. this is way odd and way aggravating !!!!!!!!! I had to let someone know so here it is. I mean when a piece of software give you differentt results depending on "the phase of th moon" you know you've got to move away from it. So I'll say it again if you nedd to make a personal blog.. RW is cute but if you are working for professional clients I would definitely NOT recommend it.

For a while I was weary of Unsanity's haxies... but then a couple of them in particular are soooooooooo useful(namely this one and FontCard for me) that every once in a while I would re-install them hopring it would work fine and by now I have been using them for many months... never had any trouble I could attribute to them anymore... and like it is said below... this could/should be included in the OS.. that is how useful this is !!!! Whip those menus into shape Masta' ! Whip'em good LoL

PS: Unlike a couple of posts below I never lost a shortcut. At least not that I noticed ;-)

The main issue I have with this product is the lack of stylesheets for typography. I think it could really benefit from paragraph and type styles like any good layout app (look at InDesign, XPress and so on). Sure HTML does not handle font sizes in desktop publishing manner but rather the whole + or - deal... which for a graphic designer is a bit silly. I'm sure RW could use rweal point sizes and then generate the code that is needed. A lot of the times in RW one needs to just take eyeball measurements for "point sizes" and hope his eyes are well calibrated. Then a little + or a little - and we're all set.. I hate working that way !!!! When I say 1 2 points I want 12 points and if I want 8,5 I want 8,5 not + or - !!! So if you're gonna be a wysiwyg kinda product then try to look as much like a true page layout app as possible.

icon
Type: Comments
Date: 3 Feb 2007 02:33

Ok sure it adds a very useful functionality.. but it is buggy... blocks eat up part of their content if you trust the wysiwyg setup view.. basically what you see is not what you get. You've got to give more space on the sides of the blocks to make sure you are not missing content.. and the blocks end up not appearing similar in different browsers.. namely Safari on OSX and Explorer on Windows. The blocks cannot be locked while working so any "wrong" mouse movement moves them.. when all you wanted to do was edit their content you move the blocks themselves almsot every single time.. sure a little undo will put them back where they were but till I find this aggravating.. so a "lock block position" seems mandatory as far as I'm concerned. All in all RW and all its plugins are very cute but the whole deal feels a bit childish for lack of a better word. Not sure it is a YourHead issue, all this may stem frm the way RW is built.. dunno. Yet RW has no true adversary so I guess one cannot really complain... this whole arena is open to development I guess then.

God all these apps that do little bits and pieces.. if you need any type of sturdy hub for your files I advise you take a look at DevonThink (comes in different flavors). Sure it is more expensive but 24 here plus 19 there plus another 30 there.. you know how that goes..for what I call incomplete apps that you eventually even forgtet you purchased and that may not get developped next year.. it all adds up.. just save you money instead of jumping onto "fairly cheap" apps that are almost one-trick-poneys (ok 2 or 3 tricks.. so what) and get ONE real product that really empowers you and that is truly well-supported.

Getting my update.. and commenting at the same time (as I see a few fairly negative comments below) I just love this app. It is sturdy (been using it for quite a few months, daily) database access is fast (my main database is 2GB at this point). I had tried other "similar" products... Yojimbo amongst others but though it may look similar it definitely felt sluggish and not very reliable. I actually had paid for Yojimbo and quickly realized it could not handle that much data fast enough on my system at least... so I wasted my money basically.. heck.. so I strongly recommend you try this one out. It even browses the net which is practical when you do not want to open Safari or DevonAgent. I use ti as my main hub for al the stuff I foten eed to access, snippets of info, all my URL collection, manuals I need to access often.. anything really. I'm thinking of getting the Office version but the only real added bonus I'd use, I think, is the scanning ability and for this I use YEP (the free version... not the latest one). And Devon's products ahve reaally cool icons :-) Big Deal I know LoL

Good idea... something that could/should be included in RW.. . as the previous post explains.. it greatly simplifies customization of a theme and allows one not to have to keep post-its of the expansion slot names and so on... which can become a bit of a puzzle. If you us RW you need this.

Cute but not extremely robust. I would not trust it for a complex site... I lost themes I made that became somehow unusable giving me strange errors...Duplicating a theme usually (well make that "always" on my system) crashes RW. But hey that is what you get for being lazy and using a do-it-for-me type of software. SO make it more stable and it'll already be quite cute ;-)

I used Web Confidential for years for passwords but this looks much better as far as integration and WC (oops I didn't notice this b4 LoL) rarely ever gets updated. True 1Pass It is a little steep pricewise.. and I must admit I tend to shy away from stuff that eventually gets implemented by Apple (keychain is indeed limited) but hey I just started using 1Passwd today and an glad it works with my Top Browser Deluxe DevonAgent. I really like being able to have several profiles for hotmail for ex. or for my websites' host and I think in the end the minutes I save recurrently will quickly pay for this.. ok guess what.. Sorry Apple but iTUNES is an Eyesore that crashes, will not launch, will not respond etc, resinstall, trash prefs... etc... Damn if my working apps (yep the ones I use all day long to survive) did this to me... I'd kill myself. Back to Old Faithful Audion (yep it still works fine). And iTUNES Store please give a choice for music at bettter than 128kbs (yep I can hear the metallic crunched bits in there).. the whole locking of audio files also sucks... le me be free to copy my files as I wish.. all this protection is not helping, it is just making me want to stay away from DL services like that of iTUNES. GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER and rethink it all outloud 'cause it is not making sense.. even my iPODS give me trouble... And I so love Appple... still but definitely not for this crappy concept.

This has a flyover mode, meaning you do not need to click to dig deeper into your folders one after the other. Also you cannot inadvertently move a file or folder while navigating... which does happen in the finder AND it goes fullscreen with megazoom for a cleaner finder experience. I like it !

well after more use I stumbled onto many bugs... rendering this interesting app truly annoying.... the jpg compression is really awful (Thank god Fireworks exists). The export does not work the way it is supposed to when you try using imported jpg data (it creates a huge file instead containing all the images instead of linking to external files).... well Buggy it's its midle name. I'm annoyed, can you tell?!?

Was hoping 4.5 would fix that SLOWING DOWN TO A CRAWL issue.. it has not... PF is once again going to the trash.

Great app, simplifies making cool slideshows, whether you use Flash or not it still simplifies the whole process quite a bit. Great support. What else can I say :-)

I will not go for software that needs to be licenced separetely for each computer (and paid for... obviously.. no matter whether it's $10 or $1000.. I own it, I do as I please with it !!!!!!!!). I paid once and wanted to use it on my laptop now and need to re-purchase it !! I THINK NOT ! ONE WORD: MAX (WORKS FINE, IS LESS CUTE... SO WHAT).

On top of that this does not recognize AIFF files generated from Ableton Live ! I inquired, never got a response. You want me to pay each licence, you answer quickly, simple as that LOL

Finally I realize this thing always ends up bringing my system to a grinding halt, be it after 30mn or 3 hrs, so it is going to the trash even though I purchased it. A good idea but not usable in a real work environment as it is. I used it for a few months, hoping the cause of thses nightmarish halts was smthg esle but nope... it is indeed PF.

The only think I really liked and will mis is the tabs... guess Apple will make a Finder with tabs soon... they should, then we won't need no Finder replacement.

I keep hearing people raving (well no not hearing... I know noone who uses it personally; I read about it) which is why I'm as curious as the next guy.

Anyway up to this version I could hardly be certain I'd be able to launch it twice in a row, it seemed extremely fickle to say the least. Then now this version launches fine but the interface is so slow to repsond to any clicks, no beyonfd slow... I cannot imagine why ?!? I've got a good G4 1.33 Ghz, 768 of RAM. What king of machine does one need to run this thing ??? Or is the Mac OS badly supported ? And all the ravers are on Linux ? I've tried many 3D apps, but I'll stick to my paying faves: Carrara and Cinema 4D. I lauch : they obey my commands LOL

I find that Painter has become very dry over time, especially since the Corel years... less and less fun and more and more "palettish" and here you have ArtRage and its great ergonomy, not as powerful of course but but sufficient realworld paint/draw tools to do plenty. As for comments I read about resolution... not sure if pixels were limited in an earlier version... but I tried to set my page at 3508px X 4961px and it works (not quite real time but close on my G4... sure it'd be a breeze on a Quad G5 ) and that equates to an A3 page at 300 dpi... I would think it might suffice for most professional print uses LOL And it seems one could make one's page even much bigger (depending on Hardware of course). Yep very sweet app !!!!! It should be bundled with the OS... iPAINT LOL

2006: year of the "Gimmick"... cuteness everywhere, but personally cutensss is very OS8 and 9 to me.. today I want breathtaking, thinking, working-tools, stuf that does stuff other stuff doesn't do, get my drift ? In the Browsing world I just recently purchased DevonAgent (and DevonThink: kick ass soft if I may say so) and I am blown-away. Not merely amused like I can be with stuff like this. Yep... "Gimmick gimmick a Mac after Midnight" LOL

PathFinder and Workstrip: TREMBLE !!! LOL !! N O T !!!! This Liquifile thing is just the cutest thing LOL Cute like er... like a little girl making bubbles and playing hulahoop is cute... but hey we don't want no little girls, we want Monica Bellucci ;-) And to me the Monica Belluci of the Macintosh Finder world is: PathFinder + Workstrip TOGETHER !!! And "do you think I'm "(visually) satisfied" (Madonna-pun-intended) Hell YES ! LOL

But hey cute never hurts ;-)

People who own/work with InDesign usually have background training, can make templates and such pretty quickly, and.. at least speaking for myself would not fork over $20.- for this... I mean that is basic imposition that is not worth a penny to me.

I soooooooooooooo love this. Next best thing until I can just actually think: "open this or that menu".

In conjunction with my pen tablet it is great: I just assigned the app itself to a button and voilˆ :-) Next I was hoping to find something to hide the menubar altogether... (used to have this under OS9) way back... in my search I stumbled onto the elusive "Barmaid" ... they all know what she looks like but nobody "did" her, and baretender her male friend gets you nowhere either LOL Well anyway DŽjˆMenu is reeeeeaaaaaaaaaalllllllly PRACTICAL !

Same thought as 2 posts below: TOO RESTRICTED TO EVALUATE. AND IT'S NOT LIKE IT COSTS 10 BUCKS SO I WANNA KNOW WHAT I'M DEALING WITH. Plus no update for a long time.... Meanwhile "SWf 2 flash converter version .azillion" works more or less well, depending on files, I guess any decompiler/can openers will fault at some level but they can be helpful without opening every can.

This used to be THE.., er "Graphic Converter" (yeah u know was around way back in the cave age) of the URL world. But sadly it has sort of taken a sabbatical smthg or other. I wish it'd come back, add support for DEVONAgent (my new find :-))) and NOT touch Unsanity's Haxies with a ten-foot pole for the little extramenu trick. Revamp the interface a tad and return to the spotlight where it should always have remained !!!!!!!! Hello wake up developper... You can return at numero UNO.

New plugin... Does this mean that as developers we soon will be paying for an upgrade to Flash 9 already ??? That was quick. Isn't 8 all the rage no more ?? Well if they do not revive Macromedia Freehand I will cry !!! It works very well with Flash 8.

Oh Yeah... with a screenshot like that you're not gonna scare anyone away.... DUH... I want things to simplify my brainpatterns, not tie them into a wiry-knot, how nerdy is one supposed to be... ok cool, it'll look like I'm in a Sci-Fi movie when my friends come over, and peak at my screen, they'll be tweaking LOL

Hello Shadow I am retarded, why don't you put a little series of screenshots using MAIL as of course it does NOT appear on the info page.. after all this is a MAC site, why should ANYONE care to use APPLE'S MAIL LOL

'Cause at this point I'm "desperate" to receive my leftover Hotmail Spam'a'Spanky directly into my APPLE MAIL mailbox :-)

Oh HELL who uses these services anyway apart to order viagra away from wifey and the kids' screen and to get a chat nickname for MSN LOL

That's it MasterCard, out of my pocket !! This is as of now my SUPERFAST browser (dunno if its just me but this thing is on steroids: move over Firefox and other Safaris.. it even has the cute Shiira drawers/window-moving-back-to-place-when-you-close-type-deal). I played with it and DEVONThink and am wondering where my head was at that it took me so long to discover these browsing/cataloguing/searching-"urchin" (yeah cool icons toooo) tools.

Apple (or maybe Adobe... you never know) must drool !WOOOOOOOOOOOOOW !
