MACTICK  Unable to import OFX or QIF files. When I click on Import Button and select format for importing and then pick file to import, nothing appears in the account. Cannot use iCompta if it cannot import downloaded bank statements.

RONALD.GOLD  Microsoft AutoUpdate failed to identify need to update to Office2004-1141UpdateEN on my G4 iMac, my G4 MacMini, or my C2D Macbook. Had to download the updater and run it in order to accomplish update. First time Autoupdate failed for me.

STEVEN GOODHEART  Same thing here with my G5 iMac. Got my notice from MacUpdate, then ran the MS AutoUpdater, and it indicated no update was needed. Guess I'll have to download the update, as you did.

JCRAIG  Same here at almost 2:30am. I'll give it until tomorrow to see if MS wakes up, otherwise I'll have to d/l it manually on this MBP running 10.5.2.

ROGER KATZ  Same thing for me on myMacBookPro with Leopard 10.5.2 (at Wed, 12 March, 8AM). Microsoft AutoUpdate failed to identify need to update Office2004. Just like you, I had to download and run the updater to accomplish the update.

JAMESCFORD  I also had this happen (10.5.2 iMac); however, a difference was that I later tried another machine, running the latest 10.4 but the exact same MS install (it was my previous machine, and the site-licensed MS Office install was carried over to the new one), and the MS update tool there DID find the update.

Thinking that maybe the update had just not been available at the time I first checked, I tried again just now on the iMac and the update tool still did not find any updates.

Acting on a suspicion, I tried adding the MS update app to the firewall exception list, and also checking the firewall log. However, that didn't help.

So, I guess it's good they provide a manual alternative.

MacScan

*....

RONALD.GOLD  MacScan crashes repeatedly when I run DEMO program. Crashes in both authenticated and unauthenticated modes. I only tried the QuickScan. It also crashed regardless of whether I had input managers installed. The crash reports for the 3 crashes were identical.

Given the lack of Mac spyware and the frequency of users reporting crashes, this program seems to need a lot of work.

AppZapper
Sep 14 2006

RONALD.GOLD  Has anyone ever gotten ZapGenie to work?

I have had AppZapper since version 1.5. I now have (and use, successfully) version 1.7. ZapGenie, on the otherhand, crashes every time I try to use it. The crash has been occurring sooner after starting ZapGenie with each update of AppZapper.

My setup: G4 iMac, OS X 10.4.7, 512 MB RAM.

Revolution

RONALD.GOLD  Revolution continues its prohibitively expensive update policy. Having updated to Revolution Studio in Feb 2006 for £139 because further support for DreamCard was discontinued at that point, I now find that I am asked to pay £199 for the update to version 2.7.2. Of course, the £199 also buys me any additional upgrades that Revolution may make in the following year.

Such a policy makes me long for HyperCard for OS X, a longing never to be fulfilled.

RONALD.GOLD  It really did install 2.5.6. When I open iClock Menu Preferences, it says version 2.5.6 at the bottom. And when I click on About button, it also says version 2.5.6.

But the installer clearly has problems.
