LUCID  This is a great tool.

We are just about to download the latest version and try it out. The only new feature we are interested is the deeper zooms. However, the other features look very attractive.

If you like this software then consider supporting the project.

The previous version were great. This looks like a great number of major improvements.

Great work!

SquidMan
Jan 22 2007

LUCID  This is a very useful tool for people interested in learning more about squid. In addition for those who would like a basic proxy server you should quickly be up and running with SquidMan.

An optional demon mode would be quite, but then again, you could install squid.

Great Job.

Note : By default most settings and caches are stored within the users library folder.

PrinterSetup

LUCID  Yes a GUI has been considered for Printer Setup.

However, no one has yet come up with a good way to implement implement the GUI. If you have any ideas, let me know.

Personally I believe that an import and export function which supports PrinterSetup Files in Apples Printer Setup Utility would be ideal. However this would require Apple to support the format.

If you are interested in working on this GUI then let me know.

LUCID  Thank you for your PrinterSetup feed back.

If you are looking for a way to clone print queues from one machine to another then you should look at copying the "/etc/cups/" directory.

Then reboot the machine or cups. It is advisable to make a backup before editing any configuration file.

The idea behind PrinterSetup is to allow print queue configuration via individual printer setup files, which can be easily managed by RADmind, rather than the GUI offered by the Printer Setup Utility. As a trade off for not using the GUI you gain fine grained control over the printers assigned to users, groups and or other accessible parameters.

In addition one file per print queue results in a maintainable order n solution. One group can be assigned printers 1, 2 and 3, while others are assigned printers 1, 3 and 4, yet you only need to specify the printer queue details in four printer setup files (one for each printer). This means when printer 3 changes, there is only one file which requires editing. If you had one configuration file per group, a singe change in an environment with 50 groups would result in changing 50 different configurations.

Every way has advantages and disadvantages. I recommend giving PrinterSetup more time and deciding if it meets your needs. Keep in mind that it is licensed under the GNU GPL, therefore you can make modifications as required.

The idea of pulling information from the Printer Setup Utility is interesting. This has been suggested by a colleague in the past, I will investigate how feasible it is to generate printer setup files from the current print queues on the machine. If you are interested in working together on this please let me know.

Again thank you for your feed back.

Best wishes.

LUCID  A cross between this and voodoo pad would be amazing the question is how do you do it in a way which works?

Park is defiantly an interesting implementation, it is slick.

It looks like it uses a web-view for display, this is what makes the application so very interesting, I think this is really WYSIWYG web export.

Very interesting application. Looking forward to how this develops. Keep up the great work.

LUCID  Great Software Package.

If you are a systems administrator the Radmind Assistant is indispensable. Radmind Assistant provides a GUI to many of the the Radmind command line tools and options.

LUCID  Hi, I am the developers friend and I have worked at the site where he has used this tool.

I think that this tool along with Pykota can help set up and maintain the printing facilities of an organization - in this case we used it at a school.

I would recommend trying out this fusion of systems if you are interested to simplify the deployment of print servers in a multi-user network.

GrowlMessage
Jul 14 2006

LUCID  Apologies for any confusion.

This software package is in a pre-release stage, primarily due to very little documentation.

The application was written, approximately 1 year ago. Since it was written, I have been thinking it would be great to have some time to finish the documentation, and create an install package. However, I have not allocated time to this task.

This tool is aimed at System Administrators.

It is a message distribution system. If you are not a developer or a systems administrator, then this software will likely not be useful too you.

If someone else had written a package like this, I would not have needed too. I guess there are other people out there that may find this useful, hence it has been released, in the hope that it will save someone some time.

And a big thank you Ted.

NOTE :

Lovely icons. I am not sure who created the icons for growlmessage. If your icon is part of this package please make contact. Your icon may be either removed from growlmessage or could receive due credit for your work.

I was about to pull the icons out from the package. However, I thought that if I created them that I would like to know someone appreciates them.

Again, please make contact if these are your icons.

All I remember is they were downloaded from a site stating that they were free.
