DLWHITE  I think the DEV didn't add the iso feature due to legal issues? But iVC also makes VOB files, which Toast can burn to DVD. Does anyone else have a better solution for how iVC can replicate VisualHub's super handy ISO creation or a simpler way to prepare files to be burned onto DVD?

ROBOTANK  I'm aware of a couple possible solutions. There's an app called ReduxEncoder that's being developed based on VisualHub's code, and it also offers the ability to convert a video file into a burnable ISO image in one step. However, ReduxEncoder currently doesn't work very well. It's really buggy, and I haven't yet gotten it to properly complete a conversion to an ISO image (I've gotten it to create the MPG file, but it just stops before it creates the DVD structure and the disk image). It is a work in progress (and it's free), so it may be worth keeping an eye on. There are also two little shareware apps I know of, MovieConverterStudio and MovieGate, that convert video files then create menus and burn to disk. Though neither app creates ISO images directly, I imagine it would be simple enough to make a disk image with the VIDEO_TS folders they create using something like DMGConverter. I'm currently using MovieConverterStudio, and it generally works very well for me.

CAINER  It's never been "free" but always marketed as such. I suppose that might be called clever marketing. I call it deceptive, quite honestly. It's always been "donation-ware": The author would like you to donate, and asks you to do so. If it were truly free, there would be no such request.

NICK LO  From the homepage of the site: "Donations. Free software is a matter of the users freedom to run, copy, distribute, study, change and improve the software. If you find this program useful, please consider making a donation. It will help to make Cyberduck even better!". Is that REALLY "deceptive"? And is it really so deceptive to ask for a small donation to help the developer who has no doubt spent hours on this tool you get for nothing? Seriously?!

CAINER  OK maybe "deceptive" is a little strong and maybe I read too much into it, but nevertheless there is contradiction:

Either is it FREE-ware or it is DONATION-ware

Since the author has purposely coded CyberDuck to display a "Please donate" message every time you quit it, then he wants donations, and therefore this is donation-ware.

In contrast, see FileZilla. This is also marked as Free-ware. It does not *ever* ask you for a donation. Ever. Sure, you can donate if you want, but the app itself is not begging you for it.

So if CyberDuck truly is Free-ware then the author should do the right thing and remove the nag screen asking for a donation. Am I wrong?
