LARRYQUINLAN  @ BLLOYD Sorry if I came across snarky... That wasn't my intent. But if you'll notice, my comment was based on PF version 5.5. At _that_ time the only relevant information on this page to my post was exactly what I quoted in my post (no word of two concurrent versions). I simply expressed surprise that CocoaTech could make PF a Snow Leopard only product so quickly following Snow Leopard's release. Please note 2 things about my original post:

1) I expressed no criticism of the product or the company...only surprise.

2) I did so based on the (only) information made available on this page _at that time_(!).

Shock J responded with helpful information found on CocoaTech's website _not found on this site at that time_ (!) for which I thanked him. I then proceeded to make the point (apparently in a snarky way...sorry!) that it would have been nice if that information would have been posted to this website since a) It seems appropriate to the nature and purpose of this site, b) it could have been easily done, and c) had the information been given, it would not have elicited the surprise I registered in my original post (and we would not be having this discussion).

MacUpdate has since updated the information on this page (which, of course, makes my original post look ridiculous) without acknowledging that this information was lacking when PF version 5.5 info was posted (and when I posted my original comment). So yeah... (Sigh!)

Thanks for the info! Had I have been commenting on Cocaotech's web site, I'm sure I should have known that.

Seems like that little bit of information would have been appropriate to have been included on that OTHER web site. You know the one I mean. The one on which we are presently posting. The one that states that "this version of Path Finder only runs on Mac OS X 10.6 or later", but makes no mention of a divergence of code. The one that invited me to leave a comment based on the information given. Yeah, THAT website!

COCOATECH  We don't directly control the Path Finder listing on MacUpdate, but we'll do our best to correct any misinformation.

LARRYQUINLAN  "NOTE: This version of Path Finder only runs on Mac OS X 10.6 or later."

Wow! Does Cocoatech really have a large enough OS X 10.6 user base to leave all others behind?

SHOCK J  Cocoatech has stated on their web site:

"We've released Path Finder 5.5.0 for Snow Leopard. The code paths between Leopard and Snow Leopard have diverged so much that we must now release separate updates for each operating system. Snow Leopard updates will begin at version 5.5, while Leopard updates will continue from 5.1.5."

They're not leaving anyone behind.

BLLOYD  As we're being snarky, perhaps we could read the "requirements" section on THIS VERY PAGE. It states:

REQUIREMENTS

Version 5.5.0: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)

Version 5.1.5: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

Now if you can't grok the requirements there, perhaps at least it inspires enough curiosity for you to go visit the site (where it says MORE INFORMATION) and do a little research :-P

LARRYQUINLAN  "Can this get any more bloated?"

Yes, it has now broken the 100 MB barrier, weighing in at 101 MB as of v.6.4.2. See, you just keep getting more for your money! :)
