Type: CommentsDate: 9 Jul 2008 09:53Okay macsolu, I have installed it and found the hiding bug to be persistent ... BUT when combined with OS10.5.4 I can now at least use this work around:
After starting up your Mac, open InDesign -> once open, immediately close it again (ie. don't hit any keyboard shortcuts or do anything at all in ID) -> then re-open ID and cmd+h should now work (it does for me).
CAVEAT: should you happen to close ID again and re-open once more for a third time, the cmd+h shortcut ceases to work!

Type: CommentsDate: 7 Jul 2008 21:38Love this app, just not quite sure why we're supposed to pay US$35 to use a beta ... ?
![]()
Type: ReviewDate: 15 Jun 2008 19:56I love this app! Hasn't let me down, yet. Fast and efficient this is an all-star winner. :)
![]()
Type: CommentsDate: 10 Jun 2008 01:58Nice idea and handy, too. I usually forget to browse the MacScripter forums for long periods of time and so miss out on stuff. Now I can stay up-to-date. Thanks, guys! :)

Type: CommentsDate: 4 Jun 2008 20:37Excellent app! I've been using it to my great satisfaction for a long time now, but never knew I could rotate my dialogue boxes (see screen shot above)! Must try and find that feature. ;)

Type: ReviewDate: 15 May 2008 19:58Working just fine now. Thanks Rorohiko for yet another nice plugin. :)

Type: CommentsDate: 15 May 2008 09:27Hmmm - when I try to download from either the link here or at the dev's site I get this:
"Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /downloads/TextExporter.2.0.zip on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."
![]()
Type: CommentsDate: 5 May 2008 03:56Hmmm, this sounds interesting - I'll give the demo a try.
OT: I think the dev's very brave using the logo that they do - can't imagine Adobe being too thrilled with it.
![]()
Type: CommentsDate: 25 Apr 2008 09:09I've just found this app and haven't had time to check it out - so no comment from me regarding functionality at this point.
My comment concerns the dev mentioning 'the review which preceeds yours' by way of showing that there are people who really dig this app and happily pay for it. BUT the writer of 'the review which preceeds yours' has paid $5 for the app and not the now charged $25. Whereas $5 seems reasonable, $25 appears less so.

Type: CommentsDate: 21 Mar 2008 17:31Ah, another new version of Praat! I have to admit I keep an eye out for each update - not because this app is in the least useful to me (mind, I'm not saying it's not useful at all!), but just to see what's happening (or not happening, as the case may be) with that icon ;)

Type: CommentsDate: 28 Feb 2008 02:25Cheers Admin ... that's not what the page looked like at the time I posted my comment. Then there was no mention of 'Japanese' and hence my post.
![]()
Type: CommentsDate: 27 Feb 2008 22:48Okay, so is this update *only* useful for Japanese users? The Adobe weblink is suitable vague (as in it doesn't mention anything about Japanese users, unlike the spiel here at MU). Confuse me, why don't you ...
![]()
Type: ReviewDate: 22 Feb 2008 07:09I'm missing the options previously available for the toolbar. No longer can I have an icon for 'Hold' or 'Queue'. I just don't know why Yazsoft had to take those out - I always found them very handy. Now I have to right-click a file(s) to access those actions.
But apart from that, the app performs as expected. No real problems on my G5 (Tiger5.2).
![]()
Type: CommentsDate: 18 Feb 2008 05:37And I would like to see an option to outline the fonts in the final barcodes. Then again, perhaps that is a well hidden feature, or maybe I'm just getting too old to be able to find such things.
![]()
Type: ReviewDate: 12 Feb 2008 19:40Never a problem with this *free* app and now when we had the trouble with OSX 10.5.2 the devs sorted it within 24 hours. Fabulous! I wish all apps could be this wonderful! :)

Type: CommentsDate: 12 Feb 2008 01:46yeh, hello! disabling fontxplorer may be easy if you use your mac for game playing, but anyone who uses it for work involving type is currently royally scr*wed ... i know there are other apps available, but who's going to lay down US$100 or more for an app they don't really want to use while they're waiting for an app they can't live without to be updated? and, of course, there is no guarantee that things like suitcase will work ... haven't heard anything about it, but that's not quite the same as 'all's peachy in the suitcase garden', is it?
anyway, enough rant ... this is a major hassle for many people and i hope to high heavens that whoever is responsible will sort it out *real* fast ... meanwhile, i'll just spend the night re-installing 10.5.1, i guess }:-(

Type: ReviewDate: 14 Jan 2008 01:18nice work, carter! i never liked dos ... that's why i got a mac in the first place ... and i never liked the unix command line either, but hey we were just stuck with it until you and your REALLY smart friends came along ... good on ya! 5 stars all the way from me :-)
OT, may i suggest that yetirider and funkyness get a room ;-P

Type: CommentsDate: 23 Dec 2007 17:34I'd be inclined to agree with you, neonblue2 ... if your statements were correct.
But the link provided in the MU page here only leads (after further clicking) to a page that pretty much describes what John mentions and pretty much does not describe everything John reckons it falls short on. Makes me think that John's also followed the link and hence has been disappointed.
Alternatively, the link provided through Software Update goes to just the same place leading to too little info.
Even if, as you suggest, we cannot necessarily rely on who posts stuff here (although I would think that Apple keeps an eye on their own product update messages, especially somewhere like here at MU), than the link given is clearly an Apple link that leads to less than a whole lot of info about v1.1.
In all, there appears to be no further information readily available, just like John suggested in the first place. If you have a link that will give us more, please provide it.
Peace to all for the season :-)

Type: ReviewDate: 19 Dec 2007 15:33Centimetres? You've got millimetres, so why not just move the decimal up to the left one position?
With both metric and imperial measurements, this is one little tool that's useful for more that just the US market (or in reverse, just the European/Australasian market).
Good on the developer!

Type: CommentsDate: 12 Dec 2007 16:50Don't know why the header for this app says 'Currently unavailable' just above the 'More info' link, but this is where I got the app ...

I'm going to give it whirl and see how it performs.

Type: ReviewDate: 15 Nov 2007 18:51Love this little app! I tried several others, but they're all more cumbersome. Five stars from me!
One small feature request, if I may: can we have a button to clear all listed filenames in one fell swoop? That'd save having to select them all and then to hit the '-' button.
![]()
Type: ReviewDate: 13 Nov 2007 16:06Don't know what version 1.x was like, but this version is the bee's knees! Easy to install, easy to set up, easy to use, easy on the eye. You've got my vote!

Type: CommentsDate: 6 Nov 2007 16:47Just want to say thanks to Rorohiko for making a nice set of functional plugs for InDesign - and most of them for free! Good stuff!

Type: ReviewDate: 31 Oct 2007 06:54Well, Dr Adrien, I have none of your problems and am more than happy with this app. Makes it so much easier to log on at the multitude of sites I frequent.

Type: CommentsDate: 24 Oct 2007 06:22Having used SpamSieve for ages and Antispam for almost as long, I have to say that Antispam is *way* more effective and accurate in my particular situation. SpamSieve on its own might have given me around 85% accuracy, but this app is hogging 99%. Still, having said all that, I use both - just to be on the even safer side. ;)

Type: TroubleshootingDate: 21 Oct 2007 00:07Okay, problem solved. A restart did the trick. Well, I should have tried that to begin with ... duh!
![]()
Type: TroubleshootingDate: 20 Oct 2007 21:00Thanks for the suggestion, but I seem to not have made myself quite clear. I turned off the annoying warning you're referring to the very moment I installed OSX.
Prior to installing and using 'trash' I could move files to the trash and they'd just sit there until I chose to empty the trash. Now whenever I want to move something to the trash, I am advised that it will be deleted immediately, ie I cannot just have it sit there anymore until I am ready to empty the trash. Clearly this means that if I accidentally move anything to the trash now, I have no way of pulling it out anymore.
I want to go back to the status I had prior to installing/using 'trash'. How do I go about doing that?
![]()
Type: TroubleshootingDate: 20 Oct 2007 07:29After installing 'trash' I had no option but to either accept or reject 'immediate deletion'. I have deleted 'trash' again, but I still get this insistent choice when I hit cmd+del. How do I get back to the situation prior to installing 'trash' when I could just move files to the trash folder with that key combo for later 'real' deletion?

Type: CommentsDate: 15 Oct 2007 00:36First public beta and already we have to pay US$9.70? What for exactly? The pleasure of sorting out the dev's bugs? Or just to have a "much better a chance to see [...] feature requests being implemented in future versions of Color Converter"?
![]()
Type: CommentsDate: 15 Oct 2007 00:30Yes, I too thought it might have been liquid paper, but after further considertion that seemed to make little sense. After all liquid paper only makes things go away and doesn't change anything, whereas nail polish tizzies things up real nice, better looking (or better named) than before. Wow, what a fascinating dialogue we are having here ... now if only the dev would weigh in with comments. ;-)
![]()
Type: CommentsDate: 10 Oct 2007 06:26Well, Computernaut, it's way OT of course, but that thing under the 'crystal ball' is clearly the applicator brush from a bottle of nail polish ... what ever else did you think it could possibly be? See a larger version of the icon here http://www.publicspace.net/ABetterFinderRename/

Type: CommentsDate: 9 Oct 2007 21:23I had trouble installing this update, but worked it out in the end. Way back when, after installing CS3 for the first time, I changed the name of the folder containing the Suite from 'Applications' to a more descriptive 'Adobe CS3'. I was finally able to install this update by renaming the folder back to 'Applications'.

Type: CommentsDate: 24 Aug 2007 18:41If this is a new update, how come the app shows a mod date of 16/04/07 (European date format)?
![]()
Type: CommentsDate: 7 Aug 2007 19:19Yes, I like it, but how is it different from RefreshWindows (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/20795)?
![]()
Type: CommentsDate: 29 May 2007 01:17In the previous version I could double-click a folder found through the search function and that folder would open and show me its contents even without having the relevant CD loaded. Alas, no more! Folders found through a search are no longer interactive like that. Great pity. I think I'll have to go back to v4.7.

Type: CommentsDate: 14 May 2007 04:55"In case nobody knew (unlikely) - the icon represents a (crude) sketch of the brain regions involved in speech generation."
And here was I thinking it's (crude) sketch of some lips and an ear ... how could I have been so mistaken! ;)

Type: ReviewDate: 1 Apr 2007 18:14Great! More features, more options, more control! Some, if not all of this, may in fact be superseded by the new CS3, but for those of us who don't want to hand over yet more money to Adobe, this is one you can't go past.
The one thing I don't get is what's with the $10 price tag here on MacUpdate? There is no mention of any money needing to change hands at the dev's site, and when i ran a (single) test with the freshly downloaded script, there was no request from the dev to do so, or any apparent disability to the script ...?
![]()
Type: CommentsDate: 27 Mar 2007 06:21Doesn't look like they've approved your new icon just yet, Ozzpot :(

Type: ReviewDate: 20 Aug 2006 22:53what can i say i haven't said before ...? it's still great stuff!
and for those who have trouble with the download link here like i do, just hit 'more information' to go to the dev's page and then select 'products' for the latest download - don't know why macupdate don't fix that niggly problem ...
![]()
Type: CommentsDate: 14 Aug 2006 03:32oops! i didn't realise there were two apps involved here, but after some investigation must say that i am unlikely to use anything else than the easily accessible 'quick menu' version ... in fact, i'm a little puzzled about why there are two apps and what could be the difference between the two, apart from the appearance ... oh, and the resizeable window and prefs menu option, of course :)
![]()
Type: ReviewDate: 9 Aug 2006 16:14i honestly don't know why other companies continue to develop their apps - throw away your dearly paid for font manager and get into this one ... not only is it free (always a bonus and simply incredible for what it offers), but it works seamlessly and without a hitch for me
i've used this soft almost from the day it came into the public arena – i'd give it 10 stars on all counts if it were possible here
![]()
Type: ReviewDate: 7 Aug 2006 04:22nice app, but it still won't find 0200 ... however it does find 200 (AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL UNIVERSITY . ACT), although it shows 30 other suburbs at the same time
here's my wish list for this app ... i'd like to see a resize corner in the bottom right of the results window, so i can expand that window to show all the listings at once (sure, you could ask how many listing will there ever be for any one particular postcode, but let's say i'm looking for '200' or '2250') ... the other thing i'd like to see is a pref pane which allows me to turn off the app's keen interest in connecting to the net every time i look up a post code ... and an option to check for updates manually ...
meanwhile, my thanks to the dev for making it available in the first place :)
![]()
Type: CommentsDate: 4 Aug 2006 23:18download the app, mount the dmg, read the documentation file ... admittedly, it's somewhat light on information, but then this is not an app for the faint of heart or the light of brain ... :)
![]()
Type: ReviewDate: 30 Jul 2006 03:13great stuff, keep it up!
and for those who have trouble with the download link here (which inexplicably sent me to the previous version on macupdate), just hit 'more information' and download direct from the dev's page (once there, select 'products' for the latest download)
![]()
Type: CommentsDate: 25 Jul 2006 05:26As of 19 July the 'more info' link gets you this ... "You have arrived a page that does not currently exist."
I hope they're back on line real soon so I can find out more about this app ...
![]()
Type: CommentsDate: 19 Jun 2006 23:43well, it's horses for courses and the dev does supply a rather extensive suite of options for an 'eyeball' app, but $10 to have the shit annoyed out of me within the first 60 seconds? i don't think so!

Type: ReviewDate: 15 Jun 2006 19:29great app! i can finally do in indesign what i used to do in quark with docuslim and at a much lower cost (don't get any ideas now, devs!)
just waiting for the 1.5.1 updater to be come available - hope it's soon ...

Type: ReviewDate: 7 Jun 2006 09:51great app, used it for years, wouldn't be caught without it, but how's this ... ? according to the dev's description above ...
"Version 3.7.2:
Addresses compatibility issues with Mac OS X 10.4.7"
and here i was thinking i had the latest version of osx installed with 10.4.6 ... well, at least i'll be prepared ... :)

Type: ReviewDate: 1 May 2006 17:43quite like the idea of being able to manilulate the menu bar visibility and i appreciate the dock item, even if others don't - my dock is not so bloated that it worries me to have another item in it
this little app is easy to use, easy to configure, easy to uninstall again and let's not forget it's *free*
what i would like to see, though, is a feature to make my menu bar completely disappear ... now that'd be real neat!

![]()
Type: ReviewDate: 27 Mar 2006 02:02well we can't fault the dev for trying! as soon as potential issues are raised (see posts below) he spends a sleepless night and fixes the app! great little soft and free to boot - who am i to complain :)

Type: ReviewDate: 17 Mar 2006 16:33okay, this app and the devs are getting to the point where i actually wouldn't mind paying, say, $10-25 for it ... that's how impressed i am!

Type: CommentsDate: 1 Feb 2006 15:40hmmm, tried several folders (copies of course!) and this app didn't seem to do anything, even though i'd purposely renamed some of the files within ... each time the progress bar got to the end of the line and stopped there, leaving me to wonder if the app has crashed (as the dev suggests it may at times) or if that is what it looks like when it's 'done' ... interesting idea, but may need a bit more work ...
