KEDOS The only value in this is that it offers cross-platform multi video chat, which is still good enough for me to keep it on my computer. That being said, I have not been able to open this application once. I'm on an intel MacBook with 2gb of ram and running Leopard. I've got a friend who's on a MacBook Pro and it works for her, but I'm not sure why it doesn't work on here. Any time I try to open it, it quits unexpectedly before I can even see the interface. So, for now, I have to say that this is a piece of crap. Hopefully the kinks will be worked out in the future. (Version 1.5.2)

KEDOS It doesn't freeze for me, but it constantly jumps up to the top course any time you make a change. This is a big hassle, because I make several changes to each assignment (due date, kind, priority, title, etc). Until the bug is fixed, this is my workaround: I make an assignment under my top course, regardless of what course it's supposed to go under. I make all the necessary changes for the assignment, then I change the course assignment in the right panel. It's not too bad if you create all of your assignments at once. As for a feature request, I'd like some sort of spreadsheet view for my grades (like 1 column for each grade type). This is how I've been organizing my assignments in Numbers for the past year, and it's really convenient because I can see all of my grades and can easily enter new grades just to see how they might affect my overall grade. KEDOS Now that I've migrated all of my classes and grades to an extermely intricate worbook in Numbers, Schoolhouse is back. I don't know where this dev was for the past year and, really, he should have at least kept us posted or let us know that he was taking a hiatus. Still, it's really exciting to see this app back in development, even though I'm about to graduate and will have no use for it. Now, I hope we can see some big steps forward to sort of make up for lost time (integration with iCal, an iPhone app and\or some sort of way to remotely edit, etc.) Glad to see you're back. KEDOS The app works beautifully, even though going through google earth is kind of a round-about way of getting things done. I'll hang on to this app, but probably won't have any use for it with the addition of geotagging in iPhoto 09. (Version 2.0)

KEDOS This is a great app. Under normal circumstances, it would be much easier to install a firefox extension to download youtube videos, but this program has its perks. If you have a long list of youtube videos that you want to download, for instance, this is much faster. You don't have to navigate through web pages. I wish there were a quicker way to download. For example, you could set preferences to download highest quality available, medium quality, etc. Then, you could just click a download button next to the video to automatically download. It's not too bad the way it is now, but I think it could be better. Overall, a really great utility that works perfectly, but it isn't normally the best solution to download a youtube video. KEDOS Logan Collins, the developer, has ruined his reputation as far as I'm concerned. This app seems to have been discontinued without any sort of notification. As far as I know, the last anyone has heard from him was on a blog post almost a year ago when he assured his users that SH3 was in the works. I hope this guy hasn't died and I'm talking trash about him.. but if he hasn't, he could at least come out and say he's not working on it anymore. It's a shame, because this has been an incredibly useful app and he used to be so responsive. (Version 2.1)

Black&Blue Icons | Nov 30 2008 |
KEDOS I love these icons, and I've replaced my entire dock with black\blue icons. My problem, though, is with iCal. I followed the instructions and iCal works great when it's open. If it's closed, however, it shows up red in my dock (even though its icon shows up blue in the finder and in quicksilver when I call for it). It's pretty weird, can anyone tell me why? uTorrent | Nov 26 2008 |
KEDOS I really like it so far, though it has a couple of flaws. The inability to change download location is annoying, for instance. The interface is similar to Transmission, but I definitely like it better, especially because of the info pane instead of a new window. I have been waiting for uTorrent for so long and now that it's here, Transmission is already good enough for me. I'm using Transmission for now but may very likely switch to uTorrent in the near future. (Version 0.9b)

Transmission | Nov 26 2008 |
KEDOS I've been using Transmission for a while now, occasionally using Vuze when I need more functionality. For the most part, though, Transmission does everything I want and it does it more smoothly. Plus, it looks cool. I think a lot of people will switch to uTorrent when it's released, if for nothing other than the fact that it's uTorrent. I tried out the leaked version of uTorrent (so sue me) and I saw something that I knew I would really like once it's ready for public release. It clearly is very similar to transmission, but there are a couple of things I like better about uTorrent that I'd like to see in transmission. First of all, I've always hated the Info\Torrent Inspector opening up in a separate window. uTorrent does a nice job of solving this with the retractable\resizable info pane inside of the main window. Transmission's info window is more functional than uTorrent's info pane, but I'd like to see the functionality combined with the convenience. Secondly, and this is totally subjective, I really like uTorrent's "Transfers" pane as opposed to the filters in Transmission, even though it takes up more real estate. I'm not saying I would change it, because I'm sure not everyone agrees, but that's just my 2 cents. Keep up the great work on what is currently (and will hopefully continue to be) the best torrent client on this platform. (Version 1.40)

Bookpedia | Oct 20 2008 |
KEDOS I'm testing this and Delicious Library. I prefer bookpedia in features, but also think it's stupid that I can't have combined libraries and would be forced to purchase multiple apps to do the same thing. Also, I'm looking for iSight support because I don't want to manually enter hundreds of books. With delicious library, I stick my book in front of the camera and it's immediately in my library. In Bookpedia, I sit there for several minutes just trying to get the book to scan. When\if it finally does, it takes a while to search for it. Delicious Library just seems more efficient. Perhaps the scanning problem is because Delicious Library allows you to scan the entire bar code and not just the main portion? I'm not sure, but Delicious gets my vote for now. To the developer, let us know when you perfect the barcode scanning as has been done in Delicious, and please consider combining these apps into one. (Version 4.3.2)

World of Where | Sep 1 2008 |
KEDOS I have a couple problems with this software. The main problem is the price. $25 is, I think, too much for this software for three reasons: its level of difficulty to create, its competition and its purpose. I'm no programmer, but this seems like a rather easy program to code. It may not have been the easiest project in the world, but $25/person seems like a bit much (especially when there are developers out there creating much more complicated freeware such as schoolhouse and adium, among thousands of others). There's nothing too special about this software; it doesn't allow you to play against friends or anything. That's fine though. It functions well. But that brings me to the software's competition. There's really nothing else like it, which leaves you no choice. Well, there is a choice and it's a free one: the internet? An atlas? It's not hard to quiz yourself. Granted, I think WOW does a better job of it. My main problem with the price is the software's purpose. I think education should be widely available and promoted. I hate having to pay for a tool that will help me learn. These kinds of tools just seem like something that we should all be willing to share to help each other. That being said, I still think it's a great software for learning country names and some cities, as long as you don't want to get too detailed. (Version 3.8.1)

BEAMY Do you still have the problem with acqlite 0.3 ? Maybe one of the tips helps. If you have Cabos running nicely on your mac, you can try the following: quit Acqlite, then copy the file "gnutella.net" from the "Cabos" folder (which is inside your "Application Support" folder) to the "Acqlite" folder (also inside the "Application Support" folder). After you copied that file start Acqlite. if Tip 1 does not help, you can delete the "Acqlite" folder (which is inside the "Application Support" folder) and the "net.sourceforge.acqlite.plist" file (which is inside the "Preferences" folder") and then start Acqlite again. This procedure deletes your preferences and you have to set them again. first do Tip 2, start Acqlite once, quit Acqlite then do Tip 1 and restart Acqlite. I like Acqlite a lot and it is my favourite Gnutella client.

A lot of them are foreign songs, which pearLyrics usually doesn't find. A lot are instrumentals, which have no lyrics anyway. If pearLyrics could search lyricwiki, I think it would have better results. And I really wish it could find lyrics for foreign songs. Why isn't there a program that goes through your whole library automatically and finds imports all the lyrics for you? If anyone knows of one, tell me. I like pearLyrics a lot. KEDOS Excellent beta software. It works beautifully. However, the new iChat has made it unnecessary in many situations - the only time any mac user would need to use Yuuguu is if they want to share with a Windows user. Fortunately for Yuuguu, most computer users are Windows users. It's also nice that Yuuguu allows you the option to only share your screen, rather than having to share control. Still, I think Yuuguu needs to stay ahead of the game. It's a bit buggy, as it's betaware. For instance, whenever I open it, it's hidden. I have to ask someone to message me in order to view the Yuuguu window. Also, I hate that it opens in the top left (right on windows) corner every time, and wish it would remember where I left it last. Just a minor problem. To stay ahead of the game, it would be awesome to include video\audio chat with it. File transfers would be nice too (drag\drop into the window? oooo) Keep up the great work, developers. If a similar feature ever gets integrated into Skype\Aim\Yahoo, Yuuguu will go in the recycle bin. Got to keep ahead of the game, which it is so far. (Version 1.0b1)

KEDOS For me, it's just not that functional. It would be nice if it would sync to/from ical calendars, because iCal simply offers a lot that you can't get from pando (eg. iPod syncing). It would be nice if Pando could act as sort of a middle man for me, so I don't have to open up clunky iCal if I don't want to. I also think it would be nice if you could select the window to always be on top of the desktop, but not on top of other windows. I'd like it to kind of look like a part of my wallpaper. When it's on top of all windows, it's annoying. I downloaded it, saw it's potential, and deleted it mainly because of the lack of ical integration. (Version 7.0.5)

iFlash | Dec 3 2006 |
KEDOS iFlash is an amazing application! I actually do more studying now than I did before. The developer is very responsive, also. While I love this application and definitely think it's worth the money, I have a few suggestions for the developer: 1- give users the option to download\upload attachments from the library. I'm not sure if this is supported or not, but I downloaded a deck of Country flags around the world, and there were no images on them... so I assume not. 2- It might just be me, but when I try to record something into my flash card, all I hear is static. My microphone works fine, too. 3- Support quizzing! Because iFlash doesn't support quizzing, I have to use it along the side of Genius. 4- I think the coolest feature of this program is the ability to share knowledge. The first thing I did was download other decks... even decks that covered what I was already efficient in had information I didn't know. And I also downloaded some decks I don't need, just because I thought it would be interesting, for instance, to learn some Japanese words. The problem with this feature, however, is that the library is still fairly limited. A broader list of categories with more decks in them would be really nice. Here are some ways I would suggest the developer can accomplish this: A) Offer discounts to trial users who upload X number of cards. This would give users incentive to share their own work, rather than keeping to themselves. B) Offer discounts for, say, a few weeks where the application will be half off. C) Get free exposure through a website like www.macheist.com by sharing the application to a bunch of mac users for free. D) Get free exposure through a site like www.macappaday.com Increasing your userbase, regardless of how much they paid to get the licensed version (or even if they have the licensed version) will lead to a larger library, thus a better application. And, of course, the more people that love the application, the more people they tell. I've already told several friends to go get it ;) (Version 2.7.3)
