Strobe Tuner
Jul 31 2008

KATSURA  for electric guitars, you need to connect it to your Mac via the audio input port on Mac, or use a guitar amp and the internal microphone on Mac.

it is not practical to try to tune an electric guitar with the internal microphone as an electric guitar does not generate loud enough sound that Mac can actually hear.

RealZoom
May 1 2006

KATSURA  please use it with caution. RealZoom is not a viewer and it currently does not have a preview feature to view a small portion of the original image. it's a tool to generate a zoomed image. if you load a large image to generate an even larger zoomed image, Mac OS itself (not the app) could choke.

NOTE: RealZoom generates a very large image when the magnification is high (e.g. 6x, 9x, 12x, etc.), and the system may not be able to handle a very large image properly. Please make sure to select a portion of (or scale down) your large image and save a smaller image with your image editing application such as Photoshop, then load the small image with RealZoom.

Piano Tuner
Mar 14 2006

KATSURA  FYI, here is the list of my tuners as of 3/14/2006:

Chromatic Tuner $5

Strobe Tuner $10

Piano Tuner $99

Piano Tuner is $99 because it has the features for professional musicians and/or musical instrument technicians.

Chromatic Tuner
Apr 29 2004

KATSURA  Thanks for your feedback. I'll try to make it more responsive in the next release. The pitch detection algorithm Chromatic Tuner uses is very light weight (not processor intensive) and has certain characteristics. If it doesn't detect the pitch accurately, please try to play the sound closer to the microphone and/or adjust the input volume in order to reduce the ambient noise.

KATSURA  Perfect Pitch looks and works great, and it has advanced features. But it consumes a lot of CPU time. Run Activity Monitor on 10.3 or Process Viewer on 10.2 to see the difference.

Chromatic Tuner is free to try, too. It's $5 to register while Perfect Pitch suggests $15 donation.

Ocean Waves
Apr 2 2004

KATSURA  Here are some technical details. It's a pink/brown noise generator with a "wave-like" random amplitude moduration. Unlike the recorded real sound of ocean waves on CD's, the simulated sound of ocean waves from Ocean Waves does NOT repeat for hours. Some people may be annoyed by any noticeable repeated sound, at least I do. So I'm trying to make non-repeating simulated sound using a pseudo random function. It would be really nice if it sounds much much more realistic, like Pixer does with their animations, and Ocean Waves is probably around (or not even) "wire-frame" level so far. I'll study the sound more and try to make it better in the future. Thanks. -author

Ocean Waves
Jan 14 2005

TYSON   Living in California, I've noticed the wave sounds here are a little deeper and more rumbly. This is probably due to shorter beaches, and more crested waves. As the wave doubles upon itself, it forces air out of it's sides, and crashes on the beach rather than running up onto it. Adding a bassy rumble effect (option) might add to it's realism. This reminds me of very long sandy beaches common in more tropical areas.
