Type: DeveloperDate: 20 May 2007 06:47Just wondering ... I assume that you were using command line SSH before trying AlmostVPN. If this is the case, why command line import "Configure/Quick Config/Command Line", did not work for you?

Type: DeveloperDate: 29 Apr 2007 23:57I do hope to have activation mechanism in place sometime this week (Apr 30). Once it is done, Leaping Bytes will offer free trial license which will last for couple weeks at the least (still working on exact number).

Type: DeveloperDate: 28 Apr 2007 10:12First of all, this is beta/demo. This limit will be removed in "production" version.
What kind of "restrictions" will you prefer?

Type: DeveloperDate: 27 Apr 2007 19:27No one claims that it is something which never been done before and/or could not be done in different way. But none of the methods discussed on Mac OS X Hints site qualified as "convenient" and/or "simple" (at least for none-geek audience). WoW2GO is nothing but simple "shrinked-wrapped" solution to the well known problem.
The best thing about shareware software is that you do not have to buy it if you do not want it. I do hope that some people will agree to part with small amount of cash for the sake of convenience.

Type: DeveloperDate: 24 Aug 2006 10:53Hi there, It looks like you have quite a sophisticated SSHTM configuration. I will be more than happy to work with you to improve import functionality of AlmostVPN. If you interested, please contact me at support@leapingbytes.com

Type: DeveloperDate: 16 Aug 2006 10:351) "Unauthorized internet connection" - AlmostVPN 1.0 using XML parser to parse preferences file (~/Library/Preferences/com.leapingbytes.AlmostVPNPRO.plist). This file (as many XML files do) contains reference to DTD ( Document Type Definition ) http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd. XML parser default behavior is to try to download DTD file so it can verify that XML file it is about to parse is "good one". This issue tracked as Trouble Ticket #219 (http://www.leapingbytes.com/almostvpn/ticket/219) on AlmostVPN web site.
2) "AlmostVPN keychain" - This keychain gets created(and used) by AlmostVPN 0.9.x (and 1.0 RC1 though it is not using it). It has automatically generated password which is stored in login keychain as almostVPN@almostVPN. I have serious doubts that this keychain had anything to do with "posix errors", but more than happy to work with author of the original post to figure out what exactly going on.

Type: DeveloperDate: 14 Aug 2006 07:30AlmstVPN 1.0 is not "system wide" and unless your P2P software understand SOCKS or can communicate via TCP only, you will not be able to use AlmostVPN to tunnel your P2P traffic.
AlmostVPN 1.5 (coming at the end of this year) will provide "system wide" functionality.
What P2P software you are using? Some of the P2P clients CAN operate via TCP only (but most probable you vill be a "leech").
Very Best regards,
Andrei Tchijov

Type: DeveloperDate: 28 Apr 2006 10:10Dau, could you please explain what kind of problem you are having with AlmostVPN? What you describe sounds quite drastic (and very unusual for AlmostVPN user experience).
I will be more than happy to help you to fix any problem you may have with AlmostVPN. You can e-mail me directly at

Type: DeveloperDate: 2 Apr 2006 00:22Again, you can NOT use AlmostVPN to connect to Checkpoint (or any other VPN). But you can use AlmostVPN to configure ssh tunnels to have quite a lot of functionality which is usually provided by "normal" VPNs.
If you kindly describe what exactly you are trying to accomplish, I should be able to say if it is possible to do with AlmostVPN

But you can use AlmostVPN to tunnel VNC connection.
I have answered to second part of the question. Sorry that I did not clarify immediately that first part is not true.

Type: CommentsDate: 4 Mar 2006 00:15Pirx, I am quite sure that Leaping Bytes will not object to anyone who will want to "mirror" AlmostVPN. The only concern is to keep "mirrored" version up to speed with new releases.

Type: CommentsDate: 4 Mar 2006 00:09You can not SSH (not with any free/shareware soft), but you can install VNC server on your VirtualPC and use AlmostVPN to get access to it.

Type: CommentsDate: 4 Mar 2006 00:07Actually AlmostVPN.dmg files are hosted on idisk. For example as of now, latest version could be downloaded from this URL:http://idisk.mac.com/atchijov/Public/AlmostVPN-0.9.13.dmg.zip. Version numbers are sequential, so next version will have URL http://idisk.mac.com/atchijov/Public/AlmostVPN-0.9.14.dmg.zip and so on so forth.
The only real benefit of going through Leaping Bytes web site is that it will re-direct you to latest and greatest version automatically.
Once you got working version of AlmostVPN, you can use it to by-pass 'Great Wall' and get direct access to www.leapingbytes.com.
