JORGEHP iTunes updates have NEVER included firmware for the iPods. iPod/iPhone firmwares have always been separate downloads. Even if iTunes is the medium to apply them, it never meant it included them. Imagine the 4 GB download (or more) iTunes would become if they included ALL the latest firmware to ALL iPods/iPhones ever released!! iTunes detects and recognizes your iPod (that IS true) and when you hit the Update or Restore button it checks with Apple's servers for the latest firmware for that particular iPod and then downloads and installs it (if you chose to install it at that moment). But it downloads only the firmware for that particular iPod. The upside is, once you downloaded it, is saved to your computer. It is also true, that some firmwares require latest versions of iTunes to be able to install them but, again, it does not mean that the firmware updates themselves are included in the iTunes download. Therefore new versions of iTunes do NOT automatically mean that new firmares should be immediately available. |
