The Missing Sync for Blackberry
Apr 7 2007
*****

JUMP420  Works much better than PocketMac.

Reliable syncs.

It did require some tinkering to get it working exactly at 100% but once you follow all the instructions, and suggestions it works flawlessly.

PocketMac would duplicate alot of entries, Missing Sync is much more reliable and accurate.

Reset your Sync Data and the product will work perfect.

AlarmClock Saver

JUMP420  Works fine. Just don't know how good it is as a screensaver. The clock just sits there, and I am thinking doesn't serve the purpose of what a screensaver is for.

It's also a bit too blurry.

...and i wouldn't being able to change it from 24 hour to 12 hour mode.

oh and also maybe something for dual monitors.

JUMP420  Adobe isn't Universal yet either. So let's not jump to conclusions. I know M$ sucks, but at least when you need Word it's there, and it will usually work.

JUMP420  Looks cool. But it should default to move the moon around, because if you leave an image for too long on your screensaver it will burn into your monitor.

Just a heads up.

JUMP420  no integration with Apple Address Book.

That really disappointed me. I mean come on. Do they really want me to manually input all my contacts and/or not sync when a change is done in either one.

I am not going to import everyday to have it updated.

JUMP420  This is the **winner**!

After trying all of the project managers:

Studiometry - too much stuff

DayLite - not for me, its more of a planner

iBiz - buggy

youmehub - too techie

iRatchet - just perfect. iRatchet is as simple as can be but with everything that i need. The developer is very attentive and is working on it as we speak. I had a few concerns and he cleared them up within 12 hours.

Seem iRatchet has a future, at an affordable price, not like (cough) Studiometry (overpriced and no support)

JUMP420  best app for the dock. I don't know why Apple doesn't just buy them out and include this feature on their OS by default. It's simply the best.

Be wary of Clear Dock as it is made by Unsanity. Unsanity utilizes APE (Application Enhancer) which has proven buggy for me at times. They also install something called Smart Crash Reports without your knowledge. It's nothing major, but i don't like things being installed behind my back.

JUMP420  is it me or do you think this program is a small security risk allowing the developer to log all IP's into a log? It would provide instant access to hundreds of personal ip addresses.

i'm a bit skeptical on this one. Would rather be able to input my own pop server so that i know the only person viewing my ip is myself.

MPATFIELD  Please refer to the documentation. We absolutely DO NOT keep a "log" of ip or email addresses. Everything, including emailing, is handled by the server; your information is immediately discarded thereafter. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any further concerns. -GreenKeeper Software

JETFIREDX  While I agree that having the option to specify a server to use would be a sweet feature I am not gonna whine if its never added.

If you have concerns about the devs or anybody else logging information, why not just set up a dummy hotmail or other email account for wimp to send its notifications to? Your IP address isn't static afterall (otherwise why are you using wimp or similar software) and unless you are for some reason putting your system outside of any firewalls or have messed with security settings you would probably be better off worrying about what information websites are recording/ trying to do to your system rather than what could be recorded with this.

By the way devs, wimp rocks. Please keep working on it. Thanks to this I don't have to pay to have a static IP through Comcast. ^_^

FAHLMAN  Another way to always know your IP Address is to set a free Dynamic DNS service at http://www.dyndns.com/services/dns/dyndns/. A client for the service can be found at MacUpdate: http://macupdate.com/info.php/id/6999. See the first link for an explanation of the service and how it works.

MARSONIST  Your public IP address is meant to be just that... public. If you believe the security of your information or your system relies on this being hidden you are very wrong.

JUMP420  I just tried the software. I agree with other reviewers, the idea is strong, but the execution is a bit clunky, and in the way. It also needs an option to pick which monitor you would like it to appear in.

KARL GOISER  "... the execution is a bit clunky, and in the way."

Well, I both agree and don't. For example, if the events are underneath everything, they can't be in the way. However, I would like to hear more detail on what you find clunky in the execution so I can make it better.

"It also needs an option to pick which monitor you would like it to appear in."

Next version...

Thank you for looking at iCalViewer.
