A combat strategy game for one player or for online play. The interface is frustrating, it seems very difficult to select one or more squads or way points. In some cases it appears that its best to click just below an icon, but not always. Lots of long pauses for story-telling between battles. Battles are not randomly generated and are finite - I finished all of them in an evening. Essentially, there are three modes - stories, combat and the army camp where squads can be created, promoted (increased skills) and outfitted with better equipment. The manual has a few inaccuracies such as the Command key not allowing selection of more than one squad (click and drag across multiple squads or way points to select them.) Fun for a few hours.

A few of the developer's claims:

Built-in you say? Excellent! Then under the terms of the "GNU LESSER GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE" included with the libavcodec.framework which you borrowed from the ffmpegX command-line tool, I'd like the source code for this entire program. I'll look forward to seeing it included with the download. Thanks!

Excerpt from the "GNU LESSER GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE" which is included in the Chroma Player download as part of the libavcodec.framework (borrowed from the ffmpeg project):

" 6. As an exception to the Sections above, you may also combine or

link a "work that uses the Library" with the Library to produce a

work containing portions of the Library, and distribute that work

under terms of your choice, provided that the terms permit

modification of the work for the customer's own use and reverse

This QuickTime component is generating a lot of entries in console.log and although I can open FLAC files and "play" in QuickTime Player Pro... there is no sound. :(

I eventually figured out that after "Fix Timecode Breaks" one must then "Convert to MPEG" to save the corrected file. The convert process does not recompress the data but does rebuild the file structure and in the process repairs errors. Works quite well although the documentation and help are somewhat lacking.

I attempted to fix timecode breaks using MPEG Streamclip and then did a "Save As" but the resulting file still had the same timecode breaks when I checked the new file in MPEG Streamclip.

I then used vcdgear to separate the MPEG file into parts where the timecode breaks occurred. I also selected the -fix option to "fix broken mpeg blocks". The resultant individual files showed no timecode breaks in MPEG Streamclip. Nor did the re-joined version which I had created using mpgtx. However, every file along the way - the original, the separate clips and the rejoined file are reported as having tons of video errors in MPEG Streamclip. The final rejoined file also listed multiple data breaks - presumably where the separate files were joined together again by mpgtx.

What am I missing here? Are these programs incapable of actually fixing an mpeg file or are the errors which are being reported erroneous?

Incidentally, the original file would not play through to the full length of the video in QuickTime player. The indiviudal pieces and the rejoined file do play all the way through fine in QuickTime and all of the files play completely in mPlayer although in the original the playback window mysteriously moves itself (apparently at each timecode break.)

Now I'm even more confused. :(

After being unable to save the test mpeg with corrected timecodes I used vcdgear to separate the file at the timecode breaks. I also used the -fix switch to fix broken MPEG blocks during output. Each of the resulting individual files then showed no timecode errors in MPEG Streamclip.

I then used mpgtx to recombine the separate files into a single MPEG file. MPEG Streamclip did not detect timecode breaks in the new file. However, while I had the log window open I noticed the "Check Stream" button and clicked it. MPEG Streamclip listed "Fixing video at xx:xx:xx" about a 100 times and also listed a half-dozen data breaks in the file - which it had appeared to fix. I immediately clicked "Check Stream" again and got the exact same list again - so I gather that the problems which were reported were not actually fixed?

Am I doing something wrong or are these utilities just not capable of actually repairing a malformed MPEG file?

I'm confused! :)

I opened a test mpeg file in MPEG Streamclip. I selected "Fix Timecode Breaks" from the "Edit" menu. A progress window shot by rather quickly showing 7 timecode breaks. I checked the log by selecting "Log Window" from the "List" menu. It also listed 7 timecode breaks as being fixed. I next selected "Save As" from the "File" menu and saved the file appending Fixed to its name. The file was saved without any error.

I opened the new file in MPEG Streamclip and again selected "Fix Timecode Breaks" from the "Edit" menu. The file had the same 7 timecode breaks as the original.

I selected "MPEG Streamclip Guide" from the "Help" menu. I found the following information about the "Fix Timecode Breaks" feature:

FIXING TIMECODE BREAKS

Some MPEG streams may have discontinue time code (this is particularly true for VOB files). You can use "Fix Timecode Breaks" from the Edit menu to make MPEG Streamclip handle these streams correctly.

All timecode breaks found will be listed in the log window, and also in the edit list.

In some cases, you can use this command to join two or more MPEG files into a single stream; but again, the files being joined must have the same PIDs, the same start codes, and the same audio/video properties. Using "Convert to MPEG" before joining the files can be helpful, because it changes PIDs and start codes to a default value.

If the video transition between two files looks bad, you can use the Cut command to improve it.

I was unable to locate any information about why the "Save As" did not save the corrected timecodes. I did not want to re-encode and degrade the video and thus did not perform an export.

What am I doing wrong?

MacKrack worked perfectly for me. Downloaded and ran it, entered my admin password, it extracted the hashes for all users on my system and tested their strength. One of 14 user passwords was cracked within 24 hours and I alerted the user to change their password. Thank you for a great implementation and - as far as I have found - the only program that handles the salted sha1 hashes from tiger on its own. Good work!

Downloaded it (took awhile to find the link), unstuffed and ran the app. Selected a folder of images, entered a name, left everything else on defaults and clicked "Process batch".

AppleScript Error: Can't get item 1 of {}. (-1728)

I'm on Mac OS X 10.3.9

The app had created three folders (images, pages, thumbnails) which were all empty.

Downloaded the dmg, mounted, duplicated it to the desktop, unmounted image. Opened folder, launched the app. Elected not to use the simple interface.

Changed some settings (lots of options), tried to select a template - program then asked *me* where its folder of templates was. Its in its folder with the application, presumably right where the developer put it. Selected 1 of the 18 galleries (Anthracite shadow) and clicked "Generate Gallery".

As it processed photos it showed an apparently demo photo of a child which was not present in the output. Weird.

Index.html page opened in Safari. Clicking thumbnail links did nothing but spin Safari's gear for a second - no new page, no error. Manually opened the thumbs.html page, links work on that one.

Gallery format looks nice but the image quality was horrid despite the fact that none of the images needed to be resized (I already did that before testing gallery generation programs.) Went back and removed the setting to "Use Picture Frame" and regenerated - that was it - the picture quality appeared equal to the source images.

Drug program to the trash making a mental note to look for newer versions in the future, wrote this review.

Overall, lots of options, poorly implemented interface (even in the simplified mode - difficult to guess where any specific settings will be - in preferences? under menus? in the main window?), nice looking galleries but flawed html output.

Looking forward to a version that can output pages which work in Safari.

Downloaded, unstuffed and launched the program. Shareware message and count down window opened. Waited. Clicked "not yet"

Drag-and-dropped folder of 8 images, worked.

Set destination folder to a new folder via the select button, worked.

Selected "Fit within" 200x200 for thumbs. Selected drop shadow border.

Selected jpeg high quality (4th of 6 quality settings) and "Reduce original images" (which does not actually alter the original images themselves.)

Wanted to set options for the html pages but the "Site options" button on the toolbar remained grayed-out.

Clicked "Create Set" and got pictures and thumbnails with no html. Then the "Site options" button on the toolbar became available. Interesting approach.

Filled in the description, set table info data, selected File Name and Image Title to show in table cells etc. Chose Default template, generate html pages for each image and clicked Generate.

It generated index.html - thumbnail aspect ratios were not preserved. Clicking any of the thumbs resulted in a "File not found" error - the links specify image1.html as the target but the actual file was named "image1" by the program - no filename extension (i.e. .html) was evident. Added the .html by hand and tried again. Worked.

Checked the preferences in the app, HTML page extension field is set to .html (and it worked on the main page, just not the secondary pages.) Hmm.

Despite not having selected dimensions and file data to show (anywhere) it did. Hmm.

Tried again with alternate choice of not generating htm for each image and got a single page (with filename extension.) All thumbs loaded the appropriate jpgs in a generic browser window.

Overall, mildly confusing interface, some preferences don't seem to be honored, secondary image pages in html aren't named properly. Not worth the price, thanks anyway. Drug program folder to the trash and wrote this review.

Downloaded the application. Unstuffed and launched. Window "Reminder" opened and stated that Galleria will not fully generate your galleries until you pay. Clicked "Later". Window closed.

Main window "Galleria" opened. Drag-and-dropped a folder of 8 jpegs into the source images folder area of the window. Worked.

Created new folder for Destination folder via the Browse button.

Template options are disabled in this crippled demo.

Checked the box "Add Captions"

Checked preferences and set thumbnail and image size.

Clicked Start in the main window.

Sub-window dropped down from title bar showing "Unread" in white with a text box below it. I guessed that it was waiting for a caption. Typed Caption1 and clicked Next. Previews of all subsequent images appeared (the first one did not) and I entered captions one-at-a-time.

Progress bar moved along realistically. Alert window popped up "An exception of class NilObjectException was not handled. The application must shut down." (It meant quit.) Clicked ok.

Output folder contained 8 pictures, 8 thumbnails. Two of the thumbnails were small jpegs showing "Created with an unregistered version of GALLERIA http://www.arcticsw.com"

Because templates are disabled in this crippled demo, no html files were generated.

Drug the program to the trash, wrote this review.
