JRC! I was very surprised to find JimW's reaction to SafariPlus. I'm not sure how SafariPlus got submitted to MacUpdate; I just created an account on here just now. The text in question was what I wrote on my blog. It was certainly not intended as "marketing text." You'll notice that the description for SafariPlus on VersionTracker is a bit different. Certainly I did not intend to "attack" or "criticize" Saft or PithHelmet. I've never even used them! I'm sure they are fine products, as reviews and awards would attest, but as far as I can tell, they are quite complex and general purpose compared to SafariPlus. Just look at their webpages. For example, Saft has a list of 47 features. That's fine if you want that; personally I wanted something small and simple and free. As MacGizmo and reverb point out, "hack" does not necessarily mean anything negative. (For a positive connotation, read Steven Levy's book "Hackers"). For what it's worth, PithHelmet's website uses the same word, "hack," to describe itself: "This is just a series of hacks on top of Apple's WebKit framework, but it seems to work rather effectively."
