Library Books

JR23  What a stellar app!! Using it on Snow Leopard, and it works great. From what I can tell, it has no competitors. If you frequently take advantage of your local public library, this app is of great help keeping track of what's checked out and what's on hold. The fact that it can also log you into the library's website automatically is a wonderful bonus. I haven't tried the iCal integration yet.

There's only one thing I'd like to see as an option in the future. My menu bar is starting to get cluttered. Instead of a menu bar item, I'm wondering if a dock item could be an option (which would display the number of items checked out, just as the Mail dock icon shows the number of new messages).

The developer's website alludes to an iPhone version but I didn't find an ETA. Looking forward to it!

TechTool Pro

JR23  Dug around a little, found info on trashing the preference pane (in my case it was in my ~/Library/PreferencePanes directory). Doing that, it now launches and System Preferences doesn't crash. Wondering if this will help with Snow Leopard. To try this, be sure to quit TechTool Pro app first, then delete the preference pane. When you relaunch TechTool Pro app, it will ask if you want to install the Protection pref pane.

JR23  I'm running 10.5.8 on a MacBook (late 2006), and the TechTool Protection preference pane launches and crashes within seconds, crashing System Preferences and requiring its relaunch. So, doesn't seem to be unique to Snow Leopard. Did it work for you under Leopard?

Caffeine

JR23  This is a wonderful little utility. I frequently attend webinars, and use SnapzPro to do a video capture. I would always forget to turn off both the screen saver and power saver (I'm on a MacBook, 10.5.7) at the beginning of the webinar. Now, I just click the coffee mug in the menu bar, and I'm good to go.

Feature request: this is probably a whole other can of worms, but I'd love a single-click utility with Caffeine's function that also includes the option to pause things like iCal alarms, system alerts, etc. In the meantime, anyone know of a utility that does this other function?
