Interarchy
Oct 29 2007

JPALME  I still have problems with Interarchy forcing me to type a password every time I access a certain remote site. I have communicated a number of times with the Interarchy developers about this, and followed their advice, but the problem persists. If I had not been for this problem, I would give highest score for Interarchy as a super FTP program.

LARRY2  1. Manually delete the old passwords that fail from your keychain, log-in again to the site and you should be o.k., should save now.

2. Try Rebuilding your keychain or make one for Interarchy.

JPALME  First Class has a very nice user interface. In particular, the possibillity to arrange your conferences on a desktop is very useful.

The main drawbacks is the incompetent e-mail interface. It does a lot of things wrong: (1) Changes the message-id when incoming messages are sent out again (2) Conveys information about what is a quote from a previous message in incorrect ways (2) Cannot handle HTML-formatted messages correctly (4) In general munges the message header of incoming mail when sent out to e-mail again.

CodeCleaner

JPALME  Question: Does CodeCleaner change all uses of variable names to the format used in their declaration, i.e. will it change

Dim MyVariable as Integer

myvariable = 1

to

Dim MyVariable as Integer

MyVariable = 1

SecretBook

*****

JPALME  Excellent in almost every respect. Especially the feature to copy secret fields without ever showing them on the screen is awesome.

New releases tend to come maybe a little too often.

Only one problem: It claims that I have two secret books, even though I only have one, and this makes opening of the right book a little too timeconsuming.

JASON SWAIN  I think the reason why you have two files is that one is an automatically created backup, it's created when you upgrade from the old file format to the new format.

Maybe it's paranoid, but I don't want anyone to ever lose a password file, and thankfully nobody has yet (at least nobody has told me they have).

You can quite safely delete this backup file, but also if you only have one file, check the "Automatically open this file" check box, then next time you open SecretBook it will go directly to your file. You can turn the option off in the settings panel (first icon on the toolbar).

As for too many updates, I was getting a bit worried that I wasn't updating it enough. I think you may be disappointed again soon :-). Actually, I think I know what you mean, you'd rather have larger updates but less frequently?

JACOB PALME  I have been using this wonderful program for ten years, and it still works well. It keeps all my calendar, I do not use any papercalendar any more. It keeps record of what to do, reminds me of appointments, can

print calendar on paper when I need

them.
