JOHN SEWARD  If you uncheck the box in the MailSteward Settings that says "Check for updates on launch", it will no longer check for updates on launch.

JOHN SEWARD  Oops, I meant to say over 10, not over 20. There have been over 10 free upgrades since version 8.0.

KOMTOM  I bought version 7 and I do not want to upgrade.

Every time I start this program (I payed for), I get an upgrade warning/window.

That’s really annoying!!!

JOHN SEWARD  The original policy was free upgrades. During the first three years there were over 80 free upgrades. In May of 2008, there was a $20 charge to upgrade to version 8.0. The upgrade was free to anyone who purchased in 2008 and those who upgraded the Lite version received an upgrade to the full version. Since then there have been over 20 free upgrades. Hardly a ripoff. Just trying to make a living.

CYBERATOMIC  While I appreciate the notion of your making a "living" from your software, you really need better communication. There were many who simply upgraded their copies to find out that the new version was going to be costing them money - for something that they were told would be free forever.

You can see how people would react to this, can't you?

The only other gripe was that there is no(and still is not) easy way to obtain a version previous to the paid upgrade v8. Why are these not available on your website?

Look, I paid for the upgrade to version 8 because I like your software and I want to support good developers... but I really wish you'd communicate your plans a bit more (with upcoming versions, price changes, product changes etc..) and that you'd make previous versions easier to get for those who don't want to pay for v8.

Also, a little better attitude would be nice - I've had a few email correspondences with you about these issues, and while nice, I felt you were a bit "put-off" about even having to answer these types of questions, which is rather absurd, since it is a paid product and we are paying customers who simply want information about policies that were changed with very little notification.

JOHN SEWARD  MailSteward does display formatted HTML, and had done so for over a year. If there is no plain text version of the email, the HTML window is opened automatically. If there is a plain text version, then clicking on the HTML link will open the HTML window.

JOHN SEWARD  Thanks for the good review! Just wanted to point out that there is already an option to include attachments in the database.
