JNORTHOFF  I mainly use skEdit for writing websites (XHTML and CSS) and I just love the app's auto completion feature and the availability of project management capabilities.

Before, I used jEdit but besides having many plugins and enhanced Java writing features, I prefer skEdit as it's faster and the auto completion feature is just snappier as it presents attributes a certain Html object better than jEdit. For example, creating a table will present a list of possible attributes while typing a space so one can immediatly see what's available.

The GUI is also more polished and not cluttered with unimportant options.

Lifelong updates are obviously a big gain, as well.

The only downside for me is that the project management feature doesn't remember the pages I had open last time so I have to manually open them every time.

So far, my favourite editor on the Mac. And in my personal cost benefit analysis it's the best commercial website editor on the planet.

JNORTHOFF  After using the lite version for some time I bought the program and I'm happy with it.

I like the approach to note taking that makes it feel like writing websites as there're links and styling possibilities like different fonts, lists, tables.

Another plus is that the author replies quickly and helpful to emails/ forum posts - definitely better than what some of the big companies out there call support.

To go with MacUpdate's ranking I would state that it's:

(i) Feature rich as it supports text styling and tables (tables with border and background styling). And that sketch feature is quite neat: one can doodle with different colors and paste the drawing as image into the page. Encryption of single pages is cool as well. The only thing missing in my opinon is some

(ii) Easy to use as the GUI is clean and has a good overview over the important options. Additionally it has useful shortcuts so one has not to use the mouse all the time. And after pressing the delete button for a page it actually asks whether one really wants to delete the page - saved me quite some notes. (five out of five points)

(iii) Value is good for 25 USD imho although some may think that that's quite some money for a note taking program. I'm glad more and more companies (including this one) accept PayPal for buying as I'm a European lacking a credit card. (four out of five points)

(iv) Stability: didn't crash, no lost data - all going well for me even as I paste small images into my notes. (five out of five points)
