JIMFULLERATMACNESS I think this review is a little harsh.... the Leopard release changed both Apple iCal and Apple Sync Services. Also testing at large scale could only happen once Leopard shipped. We try to support the best we can and we believe that the latest BETA has solved all issues with Leopard and duplicates. cheers, Jim Fuller (Version 1.1.2b)

JIMFULLERATMACNESS u are right, in override mode you would simply delete the google calendar and write all apple iCal data. but in a transactional sense, this is all or nothing, partial updates are simply not possible from our side. The 'override' mode is a feature, which perhaps we should warn users when they click it. though all this doesn't explain the 'Dave' events which are particularly worrisome. gSync doesn't insert random data into events, if event data was corrupt it is highly unlikely that Google API would even accept it via its interface. With the information so far provided we cannot explain how Google Calendar API would return someone else's events...all sorts of privacy issues there. It is understandable that you are irate, the best we can do is try to resolve the problem....any chance of you sending me a sample of the Dave data? armed with this, I can speak to the Google API folks. btw, do u have any other sync products in use ? cheers, Jim (Version 1.0.1)

JIMFULLERATMACNESS this is a new one for us, we do not do anything with your event data....so this must be coming from Google. the worst gSync has done to date is create duplicate events, which is definately irratating for all. note we have 2 verbal groups of users, one who have probs (oddly enough everyone here at macupdate) and the other group love the software....then we have the silent majority (around 15,000 users) who we see are using the software on a daily basis with no probs...or perhaps they are not telling us of problems. if you can post to the google groups mentioned in this thread, then we will open it as an issue....and we will try to sort out your general issue....note I can't make promises on getting your data back. cheers, Jim Fuller (Version 1.0.1)

JIMFULLERATMACNESS I don't see you raising your issue in the support area over at http://groups.google.com/group/gsync If you do not give us any details, we can't help. when u say 'filled up with someone elses crap', what does this mean ? you have another persons events in your Apple iCal? cheers, Jim (Version 1.0.1)

JIMFULLERATMACNESS note that for the majority of users, things just work with a minimum of interaction. sounds like you should go to http://groups.google.com/group/gsync and we will try to help you out. you most likely have something fundemantally different with your platform. Also there might be an interaction issue if u are using other software that syncs. lastly, we dont have any 3rd party server, the client connects directly to google which is of course more secure. cheers, Jim (Version 0.9.9)

JIMFULLERATMACNESS thx for the comments, we have identified 3 bugs with this release.... * for people who have other software that uses the Apple Sync services...there maybe some interaction issues * password box UI problem * and for a very small group we have a crash at startup duplicate calendars are interesting to us cause it sounds like a bug we addressed, any chance of a crash report ? http://groups.google.com/group/gsync/topics all bug submissions here will automatically put you in the running for a free copy when (we hope there is a when!) everything works at v1.0 release. cheers, Jim Fuller (Version 0.9.5rc2)

JIMFULLERATMACNESS thx for the comments, any chance of your OS (intel or powerpc), and a crash log? I think we can safely assume there is a UI issue with the password box (have had 2 other users report this). Also crashing at startup was reported by one other user, so something is going on there as well. unfortunately fixing the recurrences bug of the last version has introduced some issues, which we will track down. cheers, Jim Fuller (Version 0.9.5rc2)

JIMFULLERATMACNESS Just a note; gSync (as one can see from the various reviews) is BETA software. Macness recc. that you backup your iCal and Google Calendar before trying it out. We hope that the comments from the few thousand who have tried will result in a stable v1.0 release. many thx, Jim Fuller (Version 0.9.1)

JIMFULLERATMACNESS thx for the feedback, we are still trying to replicate this bug...it maybe that the Apple sync machine libraries can be out of sync...not sure, will report back when we know. so far we have around 1400 downloads with 2 reports of this behavior. another possibility we are investigating is that if the sync process has not actually finished and gSync was shut down (which we cater for, but is a possibility) many thx for the continuing feedback. JIMFULLERATMACNESS out of 1500+ downloads, we have recieved 3 critical bug reports with 2 being listed here at macupdate with this corruption issue. note that the demo build is for Mac OSX 10.4. We are currently trying to replicate your bug. In any event we are getting plenty of minor bug reports and will release a new demo version sometime in the coming week. I think considering this is a beta, we definately recc. backing up everything (and I have added this as a warning on the website). cheers, Jim Fuller (Version 0.9.1)

JIMFULLERATMACNESS thx for trying out the beta. any chance of give us any more info re your situation? Did the application crash or give any error messages? Can you provide us with your exact system definition? I think this highlights the need for us to have an uninstaller program. many thx, Jim Fuller (Macness Developer) (Version 0.9.1)
