JIMBLU  they are blank on mine too, but if i double click em they show up in the menu bar. i just wanted to make sure if one went straight to the source that it would not help. sounds like something within the system files is messed up or corrupted. -- sometimes when i get lost and don't know how to fix something i carefully -- carefully-- run the safest stuff with Onyx -- or cocktail but i think it costs too much. i haven't installed either yet because i haven't needed them.

JIMBLU  yelleko-- we have a couple of things in common -- 7.6 was where i started too, and i'm a long time photoshop user too. i feel your pain on this particular issue. mac is going through a transnational period for sure, but at the risk of upsetting other people i don't think this issue is all apple's fault. think about how long it took for micro$oft to get it together when they came out with a true 64-bit os. what fixed it for me was to do a clean install (i know that's one big hassle). and be very very careful about what third-party software you add until they catch up and come out with 64-bit software. i know this is age-old advice about the clean install -- and i'm not sure if mac minis are even 64-bit yet. still, i wouldn't recommend upgraded to snow leopard without doing a clean install because apple has rearranged many things and adobe has yet to catch up. really, being a long time adobe user -- many of their products -- i am just so disappointing that it seems they are making better software for windows nowadays and taking too much time keeping up with apple -- apple made adobe the mega-company it is after all. good luck and sorry i don't have better advice on this one.

JIMBLU  are you on a new macbook pro when this is happening -- using the real ram and not the "better battery life" ram? -- this happens to me on a brand new macbook pro with 10.6.1

NOOKSTER  +1 Smiley for you, a simple task for those that didn't pay attention to the installer.

I'm surprised that I my post below yours (regarding the truth about both MS and Apple's installer tactics) isn't -10 though, maybe there's more common sense around here than I give this place credit for.

JIMBLU  i like how you have it set up now-- maybe if the dock icon had graphics so great people couldn't help but want to use it--simple and eloquent, but cool. but like the poster stated, maybe it would be in your best interest to make a lite version. me-- i don't care either way. i've been reading reviews for 20 odds years and yours is the first app i felt compelled to boast about. i think atMonitor has so many possibilities and so much going for it. let you know job well done and to inform other mac users. what the next two years are gonna bring... greatness and a #1 app that is on most mac computers i think. when the time comes to charge mandatory for it, just be gentle--you know how they can turn.

all said is said with my very humble opinion to you

JIMBLU  that's a really great question. on the dock icon i do not put a check next to "keep in dock" but it still shows on restart. and when i remove it from Login Items, well then the app doesn't start up at all. i can't figure out the answer but i'm sure the developer will fix it soon. i can tell the developer has been busy making many UI changes. but how hard can it be to make an application icon not show up in the dock? -- it's done all the time. i'm sure there's some third-party app the could do it-- but i would just wait til the developer gets around to it.

i get the feeling this latest incarnation of atMonitor opened a whole new can of worms.

JIMBLU  nice improvements with the themes. very very nice. i did spend about an hour making the menu bar activity viewer black and white and gray so it would look nice with the other apple icons. when i downloaded this new one it said my prefs were no good anymore. no matter-- i am really liking the text theme. this app is so great. now just get rid of those dotted bars that separate cpu, ram, net, etc. and make it so i can make the text size 12 under net view--i'll stretch the window and make it work. could it show Airport as well as a wired connection too (at the same time)? the pref the tells it to look up application descriptions @ iusethis dot com gives me all sorts of warning signs in the Top Window--mostly about root stuff-- i figure that's because apple's inner gut root stuff is not posted at iusethis dot com.

in my last review of this app it cut off half my post, but it was like you read my mind as to my request. i guess everybody will shut up now about this not being as pretty as iStat Pro/Menus.

i know it's not your intention because this app is a developer app and does so much more than iState pro, but you are blowing away my all-time favorite widget.

thanks so much for making this application-- you are obviously a developer's developer.

JIMBLU  this has become my favorite application of this type. i've been a macuser for around 20 years so i've used many of them as i've wondered the hallowed halls of versiontracker and now the better mactracker. i'm not a developer or anything like that, but i like to keep an eye on things like cpu, ram, network, etc. --and i can sure see how every developer would love and need this app.

man where to start... this little application is so customizable in every way and does so much...

--i'm a minimalist and i love how i can shrink this thing down to my single favorite process in the menu bar and then expand it to the favorite ones of my choosing--collapse/expand. and the nice intuitive options to further change the menu bar view by right or left clicking, depending on how you got your mouse set up, right under each process is very nice indeed.

--the wealth of information in the drop-downs under each menu bar option is perfect-- not too much, not too little.

--very complete and easily understandable information under the Net View drop-down --more complete than even iStat Menus --essential information.

--the ability to purge my ram under the Ram View --helpful in so many ways.

for what this application does in the menu bar, it is so customizable it has a small learning curve and it might cause some users to shy away from it. the drop- downs are not only filled with helpful and essential information but they are useful too-- like the option to purge your ram.

--the floating window is just as nice if you like that type of thing.

--the dock icon is also customizable. if you like to keep your dock viewable, you can keep an eye on the cpu in the menu bar and the ram in the dock with the smallest possible loss of screen real estate. --or vice -versa, or an amazing combination of two processes.

if you want to use up desktop space the Top Window is as thorough as it gets -- this is where i imagine it shines as a developer app. i use it for the occasional kill of an app that's hanging--but each process in the Top View has six columns of information with it in the bottom half of the window and the top half has everything you could possibility want to know about what is highlighted in the bottom half, and all its associated files-- all in a window that is very, very well organized. above that is a row of seven buttons with common and useful functions-- like kill. ...a nice search window.

atMonitor's application drop-downs on the right side of your screen are not wasted either. there's a Utility drop-down from where you can launch Apple's Activity Monitor, along with many other Apple Developer Utilities if you have them installed. also there is a System Info drop-down with geeky developer information about your system, some of which you might need to know at one time or another --like how your mac is connecting to the internet or your Startup Services --
