JIMBLU this has become my favorite application of this type. i've been a macuser for around 20 years so i've used many of them as i've wondered the hallowed halls of versiontracker and now the better mactracker. i'm not a developer or anything like that, but i like to keep an eye on things like cpu, ram, network, etc. --and i can sure see how every developer would love and need this app. man where to start... this little application is so customizable in every way and does so much... --i'm a minimalist and i love how i can shrink this thing down to my single favorite process in the menu bar and then expand it to the favorite ones of my choosing--collapse/expand. and the nice intuitive options to further change the menu bar view by right or left clicking, depending on how you got your mouse set up, right under each process is very nice indeed. --the wealth of information in the drop-downs under each menu bar option is perfect-- not too much, not too little. --very complete and easily understandable information under the Net View drop-down --more complete than even iStat Menus --essential information. --the ability to purge my ram under the Ram View --helpful in so many ways. for what this application does in the menu bar, it is so customizable it has a small learning curve and it might cause some users to shy away from it. the drop- downs are not only filled with helpful and essential information but they are useful too-- like the option to purge your ram. --the floating window is just as nice if you like that type of thing. --the dock icon is also customizable. if you like to keep your dock viewable, you can keep an eye on the cpu in the menu bar and the ram in the dock with the smallest possible loss of screen real estate. --or vice -versa, or an amazing combination of two processes. if you want to use up desktop space the Top Window is as thorough as it gets -- this is where i imagine it shines as a developer app. i use it for the occasional kill of an app that's hanging--but each process in the Top View has six columns of information with it in the bottom half of the window and the top half has everything you could possibility want to know about what is highlighted in the bottom half, and all its associated files-- all in a window that is very, very well organized. above that is a row of seven buttons with common and useful functions-- like kill. ...a nice search window. atMonitor's application drop-downs on the right side of your screen are not wasted either. there's a Utility drop-down from where you can launch Apple's Activity Monitor, along with many other Apple Developer Utilities if you have them installed. also there is a System Info drop-down with geeky developer information about your system, some of which you might need to know at one time or another --like how your mac is connecting to the internet or your Startup Services -- (Version 1.19) |
