This is indispensable for anyone that works with georeferenced data. Personally, I have been hoping for something just like this. Now it is hear.

The simple installer will give you access to several common formats so you can preview them in the Finder. This is very handy.

Unfortunately, the formats that are supported are quite limited. Apparently, gdal is not being used to provide format support. If it were, information on geotiffs, qml, kml, gpx, and numerous other formats should be available. On the other hand, the file size is very small and resource use seems to be quite low.

I got the intel version today and it worked (was that link there yesterday?). Regarding the functionality of the product, I tried to convert a relatively straightforward table from pdf to Excel and it did not do real well. Several columns and many rows were missing, although the cells that were present looked good. It might be worth a try for these conversions, and it is probably the best option currently available on the platform. But I would not pay the price given that it did not get the job done correctly. I tried no other conversions.

The program crashes the Finder if run from the disk image.

This is a great tool that has similar free offerings on other platforms, but was lacking a free/oss version for OS X. Kudos to the developer for providing this tool. Worked perfectly for me in my two applications to date.

This is a wonderful tool, and it makes great use of the also excellent MacFuse project. Thanks for developing this and making it freely available!

This is a simple yet effective application for turning pdf documents into filled-in forms. Yes, you can use Acrobat or Preview (with frequent problems) if you are filling in pre-defined forms. But many forms are locked, such as the passport forms from the US Government. Using this program, you can create modifiable forms in short order. I hope this program continues to work in future OS X revisions.

What a great idea. This really makes an American feel closer to the action (although this is probably a false sense of reality), and it enhances civic engagement simply and effectively by allowing one to easily track actions in Congress.

Currently, the archive is ill-structured, but that does not effect the product performance. As far as I can tell, it seems to work well. I used my zip code + 5 and my rep and 2 senators were added to vote tracking.

Thanks for making this one!

I am getting out-of-sync issues with Perian on avi files containing Generic mpeg-4 video and mpeg layer 3 audio. If I switch to the Divx codec or use VLC, the sync problem is gone. My hardware is a MBP C2D running 10.4.8. I will post this same comment to their mail list.

This is a great game, open source or otherwise. For those of us from the side-scrolling era of game greats, like Super Mario Brothers, this is an excellent stand-in. I am glad to see that development progresses and that it is compiled as a universal binary. Runs great on my MBP C2D. Looking forward to Milestone 2.

This is a nice, simple screensaver that manages to produce interesting images using OpenGL without a ton of CPU overhead. Good job.

If you downloaded the update when it first was available and you had recipes from a prior version backed up and needing to be re-imported, download the application again. I had a minor error in the import script that was not adding unmatched recipe files. Sorry about the inconvenience. (This was corrected within the first hour of the update announcement.)

Also, you will note that the field "Recipe Type" was not being honored between export/import. This was one of the fixes in this version, so now that field will be correct between upgrades.

I never have dependable cellular access when driving mountain roads that are dirt or gravel, 40 miles from any signs of civilization. If you want to do anything more adventurous than an interstate highway road trip, you are likely to lose access to the internet if you have it at all. How many National Parks are littered with cellular towers?

I have read elsewhere that you can try to max your cache and view your route while online. When you take your trip, GE should pull from the cache and access your coverage. This will depend on how much terrain you plan to cover, resolution, etc. I have not tried it myself. Alternatively, check out MacGPS or GPSy for your needs.

I just spent a little time looking over the mail list archives for gtk devel. Unfortunately, a key leader in the port project was hired by Apple and can no longer work on the project. (Unfortunate for a native gtk2 port, but good for Anders.) I am not sure if progress is as rapid as it was late last year, but let's hope for the best. If this succeeds, an X11-free version of the gimp will be possible on the mac.

Although the Seashore project is a partial port of Gimp (or gimp-based) code to Cocoa. Certainly not nearly the feature-set of Gimp, but I nice little app for occasional use, like adding text to an image, etc.

I would agree with the previous reply comments. Additionally, there is no reason why your system would be slow because of X11 unless you were running a cpu or vide-intensive X11 app and your machine is underpowered (or short on RAM, etc.).

Xfree86 is a very low overhead windowing environment. My guess is you had something fairly messed up that happened to co-occur with your X11 experience. Based on your comments, it is clear that there is plenty of room for error and misconception.

That's why you can choose to be an early adopter or not. Seriously, any new product, software or hardware, is going to have issues. If you are concerned about those issues, you let everyone else be the guinea pigs and wait until things get sorted out. This is not what I would consider to be a serious problem. It is just a fact of life, and it applies to all OSs.

Let me test this on another machine. It worked fine when I tested on my own system prior to release last night. (Worked fine on my other machine from 2.5.9 to 2.6.0 with 25 recipes.)

Try doing a manual import from the File menu. You should have an exported version in your Library from a prior update.

I do recommend you always run a manual export prior to running an updater, but I am real sorry about your data loss.

If you look under Manage Databases, there is a 'View as Form' item. Select that to get back to the form view where you can click the 'Close Table' button. This is a constraint of creating a Filemaker application where you need to control access to background databases.

As far as the metric units, this is not configurable. Unfortunately, to convert the program to SI would require a ton of extra work that cannot be done currently. FWIW, I do have tooltips that pop-up for most non-metric inputs to show the metric equivalent. This is not at all ideal, but it is something. Sorry about the limitation.

There was a fairly serious problem with the import/export routine on the last upgrade. I have been trying to deal with it, but it will take a day or two. Unfortunately, "developing" in FileMaker is not always straightforward.

My apologies for a false release that should have undergone more testing. Luckily, the issue was caught quite soon. Meanwhile, hold on to your prior version and I hope to have this one out quickly.
