JB4 Camino not "keeping up?" It still loads faster from the dock than any browser I've tried. Safari? Not for me.... it's faster than it was, but won't load all the sites I need... (Version 1.6.5)

M85 Try updating to the 2.0 Alpha. I've been using it for almost a month and it's very stable and more site-compatible. Only caveat is to save your 1.x prefs and bookmarks somewhere separate because they'll be overwritten and you can't go back. Also update to the latest flip4mac for better handling of flash. (Version 1.6.5)

ROBERT Well... Camino 2.0 should be a major update, as it finally gets the page layout, js, and graphics backend that's in Firefox 3.x. (Version 1.6.5)

JB4 I've been using this as my #1 browser forever. For those that want daily (almost) updates there is "Camino Knight" and for those who want to customize the "look & feel" there is "Caminicon." These two pieces of freeware are developed by Reinhold Penner and are indispensable for me. I don't know why this browser does not get more attention.... all the tests I've seen has it near or at the top in most categories. My very grateful thanks to all the developers who work on this project (did I say there were daily updates/ ;>) in their free time. (Version 1.6.4)

TUISHIMI Camino really is a slick browser. I download the nightly builds. But firefox and derivatives do have some nifty plugins. I think that is the only way Camino might become more popular, if the authors can figure out some easy way to translate/port plugins to Camino (which is understandably difficult because of the UI aspect - big difference). (Version 1.6.4)

Camino | Nov 18 2008 |
STAR-AFFINITY I also really like Camino, but I find the scrolling when two-finger-scrollling on the MacBook Pro is a bit smoother in Safari. I don't know why there is a difference in the way scrolling behaves, but I much prefer the way Safari does this. Same goes for Safari vs. Firefox by the way... (Version 1.6.5)

GUILLAUMEK Camino used to be awesome. But it just can't keep up anymore. It was my #1 browser for 4 years, when Safari was not yet an option and Firefox was too clumsy and bloated. I know Camino has never been about packing every possible feature, but it's now starting to lag seriously. I've gone Safari+Glims+AdBlock. It's incredible. (Version 1.6.5)

Opera | Sep 11 2008 |
JB4 I also use Firefox and Camino, the Gecko browsers and Opera is pretty close in, loading from the dock, speed, but for loading a page full of photos, Opera has been tested much the fastest. As for appearance there are loads of skins...you can change the intensity and the size of the icons by grades...what more could you want and it loads the new skins five times faster than Firefox...I hate waiting for those to load.... The most given reason though for using Opera is standards...it works through literally all sites and stability...I've never had it crash.... On a personal and subjective level, the dock icon is the most striking ever used on any application... (Version 9.60b1)

JB4 This just gets better and better. The developer has created a very nice app that does everything I want my iTunes controller to do (and he has ironed out the bugs....), with just the only interface, a simple translucent slider/volume controller that rides on my menu bar....when I want to see the album cover or details...I just ride the mouse over the slider....perfection. JB4 Not withstanding the information on this page, this version of NNW needs Mac OSX 10.4 and higher. I tried to load it on my lap top running 10.3.9, which failed and it was confirmed by the developer. (Version 3.1b16)

JB4 I've tried several RSS readers, including Vienna and only NNW allows emt o read the already loaded feeds while new ones are still loading. The others lock up until all my 179 feeds are loaded. Intolerable waste of time! (Version 3.1b16)

Skype | May 23 2007 |
JB4 It works very well for me, both as a phone for long distance and as a conferencing tool for a three person hosted, live web cast. Since we are live,we could not tolerate any crashes. We talk to each other through a Skype connection, run that feed through a mixer with an "800" phone line and stream away. After trying several chats, Skype's sound quality far exceeded all the others. One thing I would like though; with my two partners who are using PC versions, we can only video conference one at a time, not all three together. Thanks to all! (Version 2.6.0.140)

JB4 This new version is fast...faster...fastest. I've run it three times and have had no stability issues. This application does exactly what I need. Flexible and complete rendering of RSS feeds, with the option for built in or remote browser. I've been using this for three or four years now, one of the earliest users, me thinks and have tried several others, but none have the sorting flexibility and the numerous appearance options and now the rendering speed of NNW. Thanks to all who have worked to make this the best. (Version 3.0a8)

JB4 Thanks to the developer. I use it daily. Always works. I love the "random" alarm option and the variety of choices of wake-up music which can be set with each different alarm. I'd love to be able to set the wake up music to an individual album in my library, instead of a folder at the top level. Mon: Joanie Mitchel- "Blue." Tues: Ray Charles- "Greatest Hits." That type of thing. (Version 3.3.1)

JB4 I find it very usefull. Does just what I want and is very unobtrusive. If I don't want the album cover I don't have to have it and the slider can be made so very small. One thing with this newest version, the Slider no loger goes horizontal or above the menu bar. I'm sure it will be fixed quickly though as the developer is working with this app. constantly. Thanks for a useful tool. (Version 8.7.6)

JB4 After several updates, it is the best of the lot. It works, every time, it is flexible enough to allow me my idiosyncratic sleeping patterns and allows me to wake to whatever music I choose. One feature I'd like, if you ever get around to it, would be to go one level deeper into my music and allow me to choose individual albums. Thanks for a great and (everyday) useful app. (Version 3.2.2)

JB4 I'm now using it permanently, over the few other similar apps. Very convenient (size and information)and practical. I use it to turn on iTunes and control the volume, as well as display the album art. There is a new bug in v8.3.3, though. I can not un-select the artwork and info window in the view menu, so they are both always on my screen, even though I'd prefer to see the info and/or the art, only on the mouse over, as it I did on the earlier versions. Thanks for the great app. I'm, sure this will be fixed soon. (Version 8.3.3)

JB4 Camino has been my 95% browser for years now. With Rheinhold Penner's Camino Knight and Caminicon, it just looks and performs the way I want a browser to. Recently, I've been involved in regular writing for a blog and of Camino, Firefox,Safari and Shira, only Camino renders the tools in the editing block. Score another victory for the Camino team. Thanks all. Keep up the good work. Ps. I read MacWorld and more and more of their editors and writers are referencing Camino as their browser of choice. (Version 1.0.3)

ST00P!D M0NK3Y I don't have a clue what you're talking about. It renders fine in both Firefox 1.5.0.6 in Windows and 1.5.0.7 in OSX. Sounds like you need to change some settings on your computer. Maybe an extension you have installed is interfering with the page loading. Or maybe you're using some kind of cookie blocking, firewall type app like ZoneAlarm. Don't blame the program for this. There's something else up with your computer that needs to be addressed. (Version 1.0.3)

JB4 While I loved this app. before I upgraded to 10.4, I've found a few others that accomplish the same as this new version. iTaf was my favorite because it let me choose individual albums with each alarm. JB4 A relase from the author: Just to prove it’s a beta... We have found some bugs in the NetNewsWire 2.1 beta just released today. Which is completely expected, and just proves that it’s a beta. Here are the two main ones, just so you know we know about them... The first is that it doesn’t run on 10.3.9. It was working on 10.3.9, but a recent change stopped it from working. We’ll get it fixed for the next release. The second is that, for some people, they can’t refresh at all. (We have a lead on the cause, but we’re not positive yet of the fix.) We’re working on both bugs, of course, and there will be new betas. (Version 2.1b16)
