MYSTERY TRAMP  The makers of MacFamilyTree have gone through public betas for at least the last two upgrades. During this upgrade, new versions were posted here at MacUpdate and on their web site. The software, however, did not notify users of new versions. So I guess in response to the couple of complaints, users could be delightfully oblivious to new versions if they chose to be. I'm not sure how this is a step in the right direction, but there it is.

DONMONTALVO  Why on earth would you complain about frequent updates? There's no need to jump on the updates if the application works. Ignore them until you NEED to update. The point is, if you NEED to update, you CAN because more than likely the issue you're running into has been reported, fixed and redeployed. Think about it, would you rather wait a month or three until a combined update is released, or would you rather have your cake NOW? :)

I haven't tried this application yet, waiting for my family members to agree to contribute. But I have been keeping my eyes on this application and from what I've seen and read, it's a great application. And the group that makes it is on the ball.

SPLUNK23  Do you have NetBarrier installed? If so, it is the Banner Filter causing the problem and you must turn it off or the download won't start. There are several programs that have the same problem from my experience…

SOOB  I, too, have problems downloading files hosted on MacUpdate (from any browser). Is there an alternate DL location?

SPLUNK23  When downloading from sourceforge with NetBarrier's Filters enabled, just change the beginning of the url from to easynews.dl instead and it will work with the Banner Filter on.
