BEMAC It's very simple once you know how :) ... to change the output of MacTheRipper into a video DVD that can be played in a DVD player. You don't need a third party software to buy... or any awkward other steps. Most Mac users already have Toast on their Macs, so it's just a matter of burning the VIDEO_TS folder. When MacTheRipper is finished, it will yield 2 folders (usually): a VIDEO_TS folders and an AUDIO_TS folder. Just open Toast Titanium (the Mac CD/DVD burning software from Roxio) and select the "Video" tab, as opposed to "Data" or "Audio". Then, on Toast, click on "VIDEO_TS Folder". Now, you simply drag your VIDEO_TS folder (from the movie or video that was ripped from MacTheRipper) onto Toast. Do not drag the AUDIO_TS folder. If you do, it may mess up the process. That folder is usually empty anyway. Finally, place a blank DVD in your Mac and click the red Record button on Toast to burn your DVD. I think this only works on Toast version 8 or later. The earlier versions didn't have the VIDEO_TS options under Video. You may also adjust your options on Toast prior to burning. I always do this. After dragging the VIDEO_TS folder to Toast, you can click on Copy Options for more control and options. Under the "Audio" pull-down menu, I usually select only English, since I won't need the other languages. Once you do that, it frees up more space on the DVD for better quality. On the "Video" pull-down menu, you can choose "All", "Main" or "Custom". In the nutshell, it lets you take off video items such as the special features, if you want better quality. Some folks may want the whole movie, special features and all and don't care as much about quality. And some folks want the best quality, but only the Main feature. If you have a dual-layer DVD burner, you can probably fit everything on the DVD anyway. But I've had great results with full-length movies going to regular single-layer 4GB DVDs. Whatever setting you choose, Toast will let you preview a bit of the video to check the quality of playback, so that's cool. MTR works on most DVDs, but there are some newer ones out now that won't rip or burn properly. |
