IDESIGN74  Unfortunately all I can provide is 1st-hand experience. There are no urls, just a police report stating an investigator used limewire to do "specific" searches of particular files. Of those results that came back, the investigator records the IP address and does an IP search to see what the user is "sharing". Based on the the results, the officer gets an order from a judge to pull records from their ISP and then serves a search warrant to find said files.

IDESIGN74  FYI, Investigators are using Limewire to bust people. A relative of mine had a search warrant issued and all his computer equipment, discs, and peripherals have been taken as evidence.

MACUPDATE ADMIN  When you post something as alarming as this, anecdotal evidence is not sufficient. You should provide URLs to prove this is occurring, otherwise you're just spreading FUD, and that is irresponsible.

BROCK SAMSON  What does this have to do with Limewire specifically?

The same thing can be done with almost any PTP program. This is the risk you take when you share copyrighted material.

KKNOPP  Someone is listening to p2p FUD. Any application or system where you illegally download stuff is probably being "watched" Limewire, bit torrent, or any other service or application is no exception. The really only safe way to get downloads without anyone seeing it is maybe on IRC through DCC connection.

But to say Limewire is more dangerous than the others is pure FUD.
