HYPERT I just saw this comment this week, while I was posting rev 1.14 here. Sorry for not noticing/replying earlier. This app uses "curl" to download the MP3 file(s) listed inside the M3U file(s). Curl does provide an estimate of the time remaining like: % Total % Received % Xferd Average Dload Speed Upload Time Total Time Spent Time Left Current Speed 7 2935k 7 222k 0 0 103k 0 0:00:28 0:00:02 0:00:26 122k If the format of those columns comes out OK, you'll see the Time Left (26 seconds) as the second-to-last column. HYPERT I forgot to check the requirements (10.5 only), so it crashed when I ran it under 10.4. :-( Why is it so hard to support 10.4 in apps? (Version 2.0)

DNELSON Well, likely you're not missing anything (read up). But as for the cause, Leopard added many new things like drag-and-drop IB toolbars and HUD panels that Tiger doesn't support. A few apps have special Tiger versions to deal with those issues but sometimes it's just because the developer is lazy and didn't try to support Tiger. Once Snow Leopard comes out you Tiger users and us PPC users will have more and more trouble finding compatible software. (Version 3.0)

SAMUCO Tiger is outdate. It has been now for over four years. You cannot honestly expect software to be created for very old operating systems. Apple doesn't even support Tiger anymore, as it is over two operating systems old... Time to upgrade ;D (Version 7.0)

JollysFastVNC | Jan 13 2009 |
HYPERT It's been a while since I tried this. Glad to see that it can connect to RealVNC on Windows finally. I prefer Full Screen VNC clients, as most of my systems run at the same resolution. But, once I entered Full Screen, the only way to "get out" was to Cmd-Tab to another app, and then click back on the Jolly connection dialog box. Is there another/easier way to close the current connection without doing that? (Version 0.96.76)

HYPERT Apparently, this IS standard behavior in 10.5. However, I'm still running 10.4, and this looks WAY out of place! (Version 8.0.2)

Apple iTunes | Oct 22 2008 |
HYPERT Just upgraded to 8.0.1 on Mac OS X 10.4.11. Now, whenever iTunes is placed in the background (it's no longer the app in the foreground, but it's still partially visible), the entire window border goes from the normal brushed metal gray to a milky white. It's very distracting, as none of the other Apple windows do this (Safari, Finder, etc.). Has anyone else seen this? Is this intentional, or a bug? (Version 8.0.1)

HYPERT I'd like to 2nd this request. The last time I tried this SW (a few months ago), it refused to connected my PCs running RealVNC. Isn't this a common thing for others, needed to reach a PC from their Mac? (Version 0.96.42)

Apple Safari | May 6 2008 |
HYPERT I found the same problem w/ 3.1 (I think) and just today with 3.1.1. The first time I ran into this (again, Safari 3.1 I think), I deleted all my AcidSearch preferences, and I got AcidSearch working again. Of course, I had to recreate all my searches. With the 3.1.1 break I upgraded to AcidSearch 0.7b4 (available online, but not from the developer?). That didn't work, so I tried something different. I removed the AcidSearch folder from ~/Library/Application Support, and that did the trick! I didn't lose my searches, either. Hope that helps someone! (Version 3.1.1)

HYPERT I'd also like to see support for folder-based playlists. Not many apps do this, but I'd like a player which just plays my Music Videos folder or my Home Movies folder, without me having to go add new files to the app/playlist all the time. Reply to this if it's something you think can be included.

Combine PDFs | Oct 26 2007 |
HYPERT This could NOT have been easier to use! Not only does it let you combine/merge PDFs, but you can see the original filenames and page numbers, re-arrange them, preview pages, AND delete pages. Very nice job! (Version 2.1)

HYPERT SiriusMac 1.1 doesn't think that Mac Python 2.5.1 isn't installed, but it is. The message says: File Tiger:usr:local:bin:phython wasn't found. Well, /usr/local/bin/phython certainly does exist, although /usr/local is a symlink to somewhere else in my filesystem. It does work is python itself is a symlink (i.e., python -> python2.5), but not if there's a symlink in the path to python. Is there a way to support symlinks in the path?

GOODTIME At this time, Symlinks within the path to python except for the python symlink is supported. This is a non-standard install. I tested 6 machines and none of them have /usr/local as a Symlink. Why is /usr/local on your system a Symlink? Can you please explain?

Mail Unread Menu | Jun 18 2007 |
HYPERT I assume Mail has to be running for this plugin to get its info? Forgive my ignorance, but why not just look at the Dock? Why clutter the menubar with something that you should be able to get just by looking DOWN instead of UP? (Version 2.4)

LOGANROCKMORE The icon in the Dock only shows new messages in your Inbox folder, whereas Mail Unread Menu shows new messages in all of your folders. Also, many folks like to have their docks hidden, but the menu bar is always shown. developer, Mail Unread Menu (Version 2.4)

Mail Unread Menu | Aug 16 2007 |
NEUTRALZONE The developer is right. The Dock is hidden on all my Macs, because I launch and switch apps faster using the keyboard. I use the menu bar for ALL status information: unread mail, network throughput and CPU load (thanks to MenuMeters), Airport, battery life, time, etc. I do not want to un-hide the Dock just to see one or two pieces of data. Mail Unread Menu helps keep all my status info in one place, the menu bar. (Version 2.5.1)

HYPERT Sorry about that! I released rev 1.07 as the first release last week, followed by a bug fix (1.08) and a feature enhancement (1.09). I didn't think this was "spamming" as this is how I release SW at work too (as soon as possible), but I can see your point. There are some packages on MacUpdate that I don't use and I don't like seeing multiple releases for them either. Next planned feature is support for XSPF playlists, but it will probably take a week until I get around to it anyway... (Version 1.0.9)

HYPERT Thanks for reporting that. Looks like that M3U contains http://www.wefunkradio.com/mirror/stream/2007-02-09/458, which gets redirected to http://wefunk.codron.org/WeFunk_Show_458_2007-02-09.mp3. So, that webserver is using "redirection" and isn't listing the direct MP3 files in the M3U. I've released rev 1.08 to fix this bug, but the resulting MP3 files after redirection may not have an MP3 extension. This example would be saved as just "458" instead of the correct "WeFunk_Show_458_2007-02-09.mp3". This is a limit of curl, though (the underlying download tool). (Version 1.07)

"What's an "internet-enabled" disk image?(...)" You might find this link useful: http://developer.apple.com/documentation/DeveloperTools/Conceptual/SoftwareDistribution/Concepts/sd_disk_images.html God's clown (Version 1.0)

DMG Enabler | May 4 2006 |
ERICOB Reading the Apple documentation, "Internet Enabled" DMG files have nothing to do with their transportability over the Internet. "Because read-only .dmg files use a flat file format and Disk Copy can create compressed disk images, it is unnecessary to convert a .dmg file to either StuffIt format or MacBinary format." FolderGlance | Apr 12 2006 |
HYPERT Another terrific update for FolderGlance. Keep up the good work! If for some reason you find that you have to work on Windows and really miss this functionality, check out KO Approach, Fake!, Fast Folders, and PowerDrawers. Of them, KO Approach is by far my favorite - and it's only at rev 0.2! I have reviews and links posted at http://hypert.webhop.net/win/index.html?utilities. (I don't have any connection with those utilities; that's just a page of stuff I find useful, and thought others might too.) (Version 2.0)

HYPERT For some reason, I had to go back to an old copy of StuffIt Expander (version 9) to unstuff this SIT file. Kept giving me errors w/ SuffIt 10, and the resulting PKG file wouldn't run. (Version 1.8.4)
