HOTFREAKS Too many designers ruined the soup on this one. Flock is now in the same class as Opera; a good idea gone awry. There are buttons all over the place on this browser, for god knows what. Also, anyone who thinks Flock is faster than Safari is drunk. At this stage of the game, webkit is simply faster than mozilla, end of story. If you are perceiving it otherwise, it is either alcohol or wishful thinking (or both) that is to blame. (Version 2.0b3)

HOTFREAKS The main issue I have with LaTeXiT is that often the very top, bottom or side of an equation will be cut off. I have tried modifying the font size, but this does not fix the problem reliably. Is there a solution to this? (Version 1.15)

I had the same problem as Hotfreaks: sometimes the edges of certain equations were cut off. I found the trick to fix this within LatexIt there go to the menu Palettes -> Margins and set the margins a little bit bigger. In my case this fixed the problem.

FONNESBECK I dont know what some of these reviews are going on about. This program looks and behaves like it was made 10 years ago. Indeed, the developers could not even be bothered to port the app to the Intel platform. If they were giving this away, that would be one thing, but to charge for such a passé application is laughable. Why can't someone (anyone) make a decent equation editor?? (Version 5.73)

FONNESBECK I've pretty much given up OW for dead. There are "Sneaky Peek" versions of 5.7 available, but they dont seem to have progressed much past 5.6. Many very sloppy bugs remain unfixed, particularly on the RSS handling front. Once far and away the leader in innovation for Mac browsers, OW now lags far behind. Even the UI, for which OmniGroup apps are famous, is disjointed and incoherent, not quite in Leopard and not quite in Tiger. I recommend Camino or WebKit nightlies for power browsing. FONNESBECK While I'd love to have search access to my Gmail while offline, the damn Google Updater and its associated daemon prevent me from installing this software. TRONDAH Huh, I certainly didn't know this. I'm using Spotlight every day and didn't notice it was slow or useless. It finds my searches before i put my hand on the trackpad. (Version 1.1.0.520)

Google Desktop | Sep 3 2007 |
TUISHIMI I've tried both LaunchBar and Quicksilver and like them, tho' I have not become accustomed to working by that method. I still tend to do things the "old fashioned way" by organizing my files in what I consider to be a logical layout and use spotlight to find text within my source code to pinpoint modules I need to work on from time to time. I find Spotlight to be sufficiently quick. While I can see why you mentioned the worth of LaunchBar and Quicksilver, they are far more feature inclusive applications than Google Desktop for Mac. (Version 1.1.0.520)

ORION MK. V Strange, Spotlight works just fine -- and quickly for me -- with tons of files going back many years. The two builds of Google Desktop I tried were slow, buggy and felt like bloatware. PETER DA SILVA Spotinside's author is resistent to going Open Source, but he is very responsive to suggestions. It's a nifty add-on for spotlight, and I hope he either polishes it up so it's friendlier to the average user, or open-sources it so I can. :) (Version 1.3.0.748)

FONNESBECK I'm not sure how the developers can call this a release. This is beta, if not alpha software. Its not even clear how to rename a bookmark folder. How about adding an RSS feed to the feed HUD. I tried for 10 minutes, and could not successfully add one. Tooltips dont seem to be working. This is a promising browser, but you need to put a little more work into software before you release it. (Version 2.2)

NEUTRALZONE Even though I switched to Apple Mail some time ago, it's obvious that Eudora is superior in many ways. It's just that the ways in which it is superior have become less and less relevant to the general user base (which includes me) as Apple Mail and other have gotten better and better. I held out with Eudora for a long time before Apple Mail reached the point where it could replace what I did with Eudora, and with glitch-free Secure IMAP. I do not agree that they should cease development of Eudora. Reducing user choices is never good. If they modernized the UI, not just cosmetically but also functionally, the underlying great power of Eudora could be made accessible to everyone. I might even go back. But right now, although Eudora has some features that others don't, the features that are most important most of the time to most people are currently implemented in a more usable way in other mail clients. (Version 6.2.4b6)

Eudora | Aug 29 2006 |
PLATYPUS In case the developers are reading this, ignore the first poster. Eudora does many things that other programs, including Mail, still don't come close to doing. I don't care about cosmetics. I want a powerful, fast program that works, and that's very flexible. The filters need some enhancement; everything else is great. (Version 6.2.4b6)

FONNESBECK This is a shoddy piece of software; I recommend looking elsewhere for personal data storage software.
