HEEPFAN  Nice program but don't expect to be able to import in your existing data if you don't have the ASIN. Useless to me without lookup from UPC on import. Import is overall just half-baked but other than that I like the program. If you don't have a large library or no need to bring in your old data this is a winner.

****.

HEEPFAN  Brilliant! Far less complex than QuickSilver but does a great deal. Would be nice to have triggers that would search only a certain context but I will use this frequently. Plug-in support will make this HUGE. Probably not my favorite way to search the web but I prefer this to Spotlight for finding apps and documents on my hard drive. Everyone should give it a try.

HEEPFAN  7.4.1 released JUST to break the m4r ringtone pseudo-hack. Maybe Apple IS the new Microsoft. Sell ringtones...fine. But to be the exclusive source of them is just bogus. We griped about the price drop and got action - NOW we need to gripe to get Apple to let loose of the ringtone monopoly. I expect iToner's days are numbered too.

MUDFLAPPER  Paying $.99 isn't a big deal either. Apple would probably give the service away for free if the labels didn't demand a cut of every track (in every format) that they sell.

When you purchase a song from iTunes, you're not purchasing the actual song. You're purchasing the right to play that song on your computer and your iPod. That's it.

Legally, we're allowed to make one backup copy of any song, I believe. Converting it to a ringtone qualifies as a completely different usage, so the labels want their dough.

Apple isn't turning into Microsoft. They're just abiding the laws.
