HEAVY_SHOWER Sorry about the delay -- just a note to say that TrailRunner, actually, since several updates back, has stopped causing all that havoc to my preference files -- all original .plist extensions remain as is. Thanks. On another note, TrailRunner is greatly appreciated, and is a fun way to keep stats on my jogging routes. (Version 1.9v325)

HEAVY_SHOWER The menu highlighting for Butler's items don't conform to iLeopard's settings. In iLeopard's Aqua, the menu highlight should be grey-blue instead of bright blue. And in Graphite the highlight is slightly lighter. Otherwise, everything else is just wonderful. (Version 2.1.2)

HEAVY_SHOWER I had to go through my Preferences folder, and normally I ignore the Size and Kind categories hidden beyond the Finder window, unless I open the window wide -- well, I decided this time to list everything by Kind. So, upon extending the window to access the column header, so as to view the Kind category, I was surprised to see that practically all of my preference files were identified as "TrailRunner Model Snapshots"! What's that all about?? (Version 1.8v295)

FREEZYJOSY Hi. Why so anonymous? We're still living people behind software and the internet. But regarding your issue with the preference files. The .plist file extension is a very common file extension like .txt and so on. The last application that registers on your mac to be able to write this kind of file will be recognized by the operating system and this is being displayed in Finder. But in general you are right. So I changed my application to be not recognized anymore as it does not make sense in this case to have TrailRunner register as the default application for files of kind plist. - berbie. (Version 1.8v297)

TrailRunner | Jan 4 2009 |
ROBBY.IS.ON Heavy_Shower, I thought you were quite rude. Remember, this is not the developer's forum; this is MacUpdate, a site that lists Mac and iPhone software. Very few developers actually look at the comments here, Berbie is an exemption. And while he/she didn't answer immediately (which you can't expect), you haven't either. (Version 1.8v300)

TrailRunner | Jan 24 2009 |
Being a developer myself I would recommend that you rename the plist extension to another of your choosing, it does not matter the name of the extension your software will still load the content as a plist dictionary. and this way you will not confuse the rest of the system. Regards. (Version 1.9v309)

Now my Inbox is empty, after filing my clippings, yet the menu bar's Recent Entries still list those 7 Untitled Notes. And must I really drag a filed clipping from the Inbox to the desktop just to view it? -- Not to mention having to first select Organize... from the menu bar's menu to access the Inbox when it remains listed in the menu bar's Recent Entries list? HEAVY_SHOWER Because of Scribblet I ran into this little app -- and so far I'm liking it. Unlike Scribblet, MeNotes has a drop down menu with a list of, or categories for different notes. Too bad though that the developer might have left MeNotes aside because it could use further user refinements: the window frame is much too fat. And I separator line before the "new note" item would be appreciated. Otherwise, I'm liking this, and seems to be handling itself well. Also, the menu bar icon is super. (Version 1.0)

HEAVY_SHOWER Something extraordinary happened. I had tried to update my new Little Disk, with the same catastrophic results as several users reported in the previous post. And for each time I ran the Update Tool, the software confirmed that it had detected a device that needed a firmware updating. I ran the Update utility many times hoping that it might eventually do its thing successfully -- but to no avail. So this last time I figured, what the hell, I'll try something different. Instead of choosing the Little Disk enclosure among LaCie's list of external drives, I chose the next best equivalent -- the Porsche Mobile drive -- and presto, the update ran its course successfully and my disk mounted on the desktop! If I'm in the type tool before and after switching to Fontagent to enable a font (or to re-enable it by activating the entire family), I'll switch into a different tool, or even deactivate a type layer, then switch back into the type tool -- apparently the font menu gets rebuilt (?). HEAVY_SHOWER When selecting multiple files (as I discovered -- such as, to send them all to the Trash), and the cursor remains put on any one of the selected files (such as, to switch to the keyboard to Command-Delete, or to Open), and if FinderPop's Control-Free is active, a single file of the multiple selection will become highlighted, the rest will loose their selection, and a hovering contextual menu (especially bothersome if a folder is selected among the multiple selected files: the folder's contents will be displayed) and a hovering contextual menu will promptly appear. (But on other occasions the control-free's automatic contextual menu does not *stick*, obliging a repeated, sometimes several repeated actions with the cursor). What I have to remind myself when selecting several files is to move the cursor AWAY from the multiple selection before switching to the keyboard or whatever. Is this normal behavior? JART Because the Mac version doesn't have a GUI, it's a little tricky. You have to edit the following file: /Library/Application Support/BFilter/config and add "page_cleanup = safe" (without quotes) somewhere after "ad_border = none". If you didn't have an earlier version installed, then you edit the option, not add it. The possible values are "off", "safe" and "maximum". They are documented here: http://svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/bfilter/trunk/bfilter/conf/config.default?view=markup Finally, you have to restart BFilter. JART When BFilter is installed, it duplicates your network locations, like this: Suppose "(BF) Automatic" is selected. In this case, BFilter finds the counterpart location "Automatic", to check if it needs to use an upstream proxy. The error you are getting means that "(BF) Automatic" uses a network interface (AirPort, Ethernet, ...) that's not configured in "Automatic". If reinstalling BFilter doesn't help, try uninstalling it, then make sure your network connection works, then install it again. The only change is the new way to enter your password, which is more secure. I made a mistake which caused that the new version didn't work for a while, it should be solved now. sorry (Version 0.2)

HEAVY_SHOWER I tried to retrace my tracks from the developer's site when I did somehow find an active d/l link a couple of days ago... but they obviously got wind of it 'cuz I can no longer find it. Anyway, I reverted to version 0.5.8. I'm not familiar with software design but the most obvious issue to hit the user is that I could never hook up with more than three hosts -- which limited my searches quite considerably. DRG The damn thing brought down my system because "charpalette" refused to let it restart. So I couldn't force quit neither the Finder or Suitcase. I did a force-restart, held option down, and had a choice to boot into 9 or into my X on the external drive. After choosing 9, my mouse went on steroids. So instead of booting back into X, I decided to boot with the DVD and run Disk Utility. Everything seemed fine until I rebooted... then I crashed at the grey screen! Needless to say, I cursed the author and trashed CSD! (Version 1.6.1)
