HAUNTEDTAPEDECK I don't particularly favour Things or OmniFocus, but that was a terrible comment. Obviously Things, while different from OmniFocus, is not garbage. (Version 1.2.2)

Video Monkey | Jul 28 2009 |
HAUNTEDTAPEDECK I agree with the reply above. Video Monkey hasn't failed on many encodes for me either. The interface is not bad at all, despite having a few obvious, easily remedied errors (for instance the "Overall progresss" spelling error, still apparent in 0.3). I like the simple yet, flexible encoding options, for example, selecting iPod touch then tailoring it for TV output at high quality with a 2 pass encode. It makes it very easy to achieve your desired outcome. Other encoders often often too few choices, or are so configurable as to be overwhelming. I think Video Monkey shows quite a bit of promise. HAUNTEDTAPEDECK Hm. I note they may not see fit to answer customer emails, but can manage to advertise their software in the review section of competing applications. http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/30463/astoundstereo-expander (Version 3.1)

BRSMA So what? The virtual memory size you are talking about is not this important, actually. This is not equivalent to what is used in RAM and on disk, and AFAIK does not really deteriorate your machine's performance. (Version 1.3.5)

The Hit List | Mar 16 2009 |
HAUNTEDTAPEDECK Yes, so you said last time. 'Egomaniacal'? Seriously? What's your evidence for that, and, for that matter, the many free/shareware alternatives 'galore'? AFAIK, the only serious competitors are Things and Omnifocus. I've been beta testing this app, and while it has a few drawbacks, it _is_ in beta, and shows a lot of promise. Your criticisms seem really unfounded to me, and I'm puzzled as to why you felt the need to post basically the same review twice. (Version 0.9.3.3b)

The Hit List | Mar 11 2009 |
HAUNTEDTAPEDECK I can't think of any free competitors that are near the quality of these paid apps. Furthermore, The Hit List is priced between Things and OmniFocus, so the cost is hardly "thoroughly obscene". Try and maintain a sense of proportion. (Version 0.9.3)

HAUNTEDTAPEDECK Hm. A paid upgrade. This app had a well documented memory leak back in version 2 that caused many people to not be able to use it. No one who emailed support could get a reply. Then there was the issue with serial numbers. Now the app reappears, and it's a paid upgrade? Version 2 sounded great back when it worked, but a lot of goodwill has been lost for me. HAUNTEDTAPEDECK If have little to say other than that this has become an essential and trusted piece of software which i use regularly to write essays and assignments. Each update brings a significant number if fixes and new features, and, as mentioned, the forums and lively and informative. Highly recommended. (Version 1.12b1)

HAUNTEDTAPEDECK I'm not sure what has caused it, but i can no longer bring the iWow window up, trying to do so causes iTunes to lock. This then triggers the documented "genredetection" bug, and additionally each time creates a blank "untitled playlist" in iTunes. Pretty darned annoying, overall. (Version 2.0.2.255)

MACUPDATE ADMIN You should contact the developer so that this issue might be addressed: http://www.kerstetter.net/page0/page0.php (Version 2.2.8)

MRMACINTOSH MAJOR BUG ALERT! Once you use this program to modify your metadata, you can ONLY use this program to modify your metadata. I used MetaX to add metadata to about 200+ of my ripped/converted DVDs. Now, if I don't like the DVD cover and want to use a different one, I have to use MetaX. If I just do a "get info" in iTunes and change things that way, iTunes will DESTROY the file and make it unplayable. iTunes ONLY does this with files modified with MetaX. MetaX takes an incredibly long time (nearly as long as actually encoding MP4 files). I now just modify my metadata within iTunes. It is WAY faster, easier, and modifiable if you need to make a quick change. Just use Google Images to find the DVD cover, and IMDB for the descriptions and other info. The only downside to this is if you, say, give a copy of the .MP4 to a buddy, it will not include this metadata since iTunes keeps it seperate from the file. MetaX actually modifies the files. Schoolhouse | Sep 7 2007 |
HAUNTEDTAPEDECK I just installed this as I'm starting school next week. Same thing as everyone else, though in my case it happened quite soon after trying to publish via FTP. I have no idea if this is just coincidence. I hope this gets resolved soon, looks like a great app. (Version 2.1)

LOGANSCOLLINS There are a couple bugs that have popped up recently, either due to 10.4.10 or now some from 10.5. I am working on an update release, please be patient. I have been really busy with class lately, so I haven't has as much time to devote to Schoolhouse as I'd like. (Version 2.1)

HAUNTEDTAPEDECK As of the latest version (2.2.4), the app isn't working for me: search does nothing, the iTunes plugin likewise (it does launch the app, but without any auto-fill or, again, search). I've got to really value this app, I hope any issues are resolved soon. (Version 2.2.4)

HAUNTEDTAPEDECK I'm unable to register this after installing on my new MacBook (I bought it months ago), and the developer (unsurpisingly, it would seem) isn't replying to emails, and the iChat link on his blog is never online. It's a nice app, but I'm sorely unimpressed by the general attitude. (Version 2.6.2)
