Adobe Photoshop Elements

HARRY MACBETH  Doubtful that I'll bother with this dreadful company any more.

No wonder they are haemorrhaging customers.

With no upgrade paths for new customers, and astonishingly poor customer service, there are compelling reasons for Mac fans to cut this shiny, but ultimately rotten bait.

Fool me once, Adobe: shame on you.

Fool me twice: shame on ME....

HARRY MACBETH  Exactly, TICE!

Needs some layout development, agreed; but does just what it says.

Thanks for the charming little Poladroid-type app Manuel.

Things
Jan 12 2009

HARRY MACBETH  It's great to see "Things" roll off the line at last.

It's a "Getting Things Done" app that I actually use; and I'll be purchasing it as soon as I "Get Things Paid For" in the month or two after Christmas.

Congrats to the developers!

Red Pill
Jan 4 2009

HARRY MACBETH  I think that this developer is onto something important here: ten basic tools, and sliders for view zooming & brush size.

It seems that there are many image editors with lots of features, but VERY few with just the tools that folks like me (and other seniors, perhaps) with basic skills can use with speed and satisfaction.

The ability to preview the brush size (for instance in the clone tool) before selection will be a welcome feature at some point; but, though it's clearly still in development, I look forward to owning Red Pill when it's rolled out the factory doors.

Well done, Jakob; 5 stars for the great idea!

HARRY MACBETH  This is a very, VERY nice recipe organizer/presenter.

Sharp-looking interface; easy-to-use; and a good feature set.

The full-screen display in reversed-colour text is particularly effective.

A good solid debut that I may well purchase even before the first point upgrade!

Speed Download

HARRY MACBETH  First class file download/transfer optimizer & manager.

I've been a customer and enthusiast of Speed Download since version 2 and the developers have always been prompt, courteous and helpful with any questions I've asked of them. This quality of product and service is important to inexperienced retirees like myself that might not know much about networking and file transfer and prefer that kind of machinery "under the hood".

Another outstanding representative of the Mac software development community.

Thanks again!

CallWall

****.

HARRY MACBETH  Actually, I've had great results from CallWall. And, like the former reviewer, bought it while it was still in beta. I'm very pleased to see that it's still being worked on. With thanks and good luck to the developers for providing a bare-bones, but extremely reasonably priced alternative to the feature-rich, and correspondingly priced products from Parliant & Ovolab.
