Very confusing since there's already an iSight utility called Iris. Here's the link to that utility:

Doesn't seem compatible with Leopard 10.5.3. Uses nearly 100% of the CPU. Tested on two different Macs.

Absolutely love this. Played with the demo and instantly bought it. The control over grid, borders, size, cropping, rotation, and rollover effects makes this one of my most valuable RapidWeaver plugins.

I love MailSteward, but the $20 "upgrade" to version 8 has me puzzled. It seems that the only new features are the new licensing/update scheme and the archive history. The rest of the features listed are bug fixes. Not sure I'm going to upgrade. The jury is still out on whether it's worth it or not.

iClip is very pretty. However, in terms of being updated (last update was January of 2007), and current features, iClip has been passed by by PTHPasteboard Pro and iClipboard. I have to admit with another reviewer here that it appears to be abandonware.

You obviously have never heard of a screensaver called Fracture then. I have created some very beautiful desktop backgrounds with this program. Give me your email address and I'll send you an image I created with Fracture. It's not just the run-of-the-mill Julia and Mandelbrot types.

This program simply amazes me. I've been using it now for over 10 years, and the amount of time it saves me in repetitive tasks is phenomenal. The ability to create custom palettes is very essential to my workflow at work. I design 2 different magazines for a non-profit organization, and have macros set up for many different phases of design. One macro has 27 steps, and completely formats the magazine text, and takes a just few seconds to complete, instead of me having to do it manually and possibly forgetting a step (a couple of minutes at least, and it adds up). Highly recommended for anyone tired of doing the same computer tasks over and over. To me, it's worth every penny.

You seemingly contradict yourself here. Big debts are your first two items. And broadband internet? Did you post your comment from dial-up, or did you use one the computers at your local library?

Used version 5 all through the beta process. Many parts didn't function as expected, or at all. Settings wouldn't stick. Now the author want to charge me for the "upgrade." I'm sticking with version 4.

When trying to update to 2.0.1, I get an immediate message stating "The were errors installing, please try again." Reinstalled from my original Halo UB disk, then tried the updater again, and I get the same error message.

Looking at your past reviews/comments, one would think that the only program you like is Scrivener, while bashing everything that competes with it. Actually surprised that you didn't mention how much better it was than SOHO Notes! Sure glad your not overly opinionated.

Lord Lightning: Can you back up your claim? Do you only have one or two notes to manage? SOHO Notes is a key part of our design business. We manage thousands of notes including databases of the serial numbers we own, business info, notes on design projects, etc. It also stores files, photos, pdfs, and websites, and all can be found quickly using the FlashNote feature. The DockNote feature is the most innovative feature of all the note-taking programs, and it adds an outstanding clipboard recording feature to boot. Version 5.7.1 was a bit buggy but still worked. I contacted the developer and they instantly sent me a beta to try, which fixed the problems. If your needs are simplistic, then I suggest looking no further than Apple's own Stickies, or even the free xPad. But if you need a complete note and file management system, then SOHO Notes is the best of the lot. I'd much rather drive a Sherman tank than ride a unicycle. After using 5.7.2 for the last few hours with no issues, I'm giving this 5 stars.

Seems to me that with the dog-eat-dog competition of Quicksilver, Butler, and LaunchBar, that this app is going to have a tough time competing in its present form, especially considering the $16.95 price when Quicksilver and Butler are free. Quicksilver does it all for me.

How does this compare with NeoOffice, which doesn' require X11? The new version of NeoOffice is pretty spectacular. Can anyone give some objective comparisons?

And for us mere mortals, here's a viable solution, although not as elegant as Spanning Sync, but it's free:

It's getting harder and harder to justify the $15.00 for this app when there are free programs out there like Onyx, IceClean, and MainMenu. Even TinkerTool System is a better value at $7.00. Cocktail is a good app, but the free competition should make the developer rethink his pricing strategy.

All of the Unsanity "haxies" have made my Mac unstable. Application Enhancer conflicts with so many other utilities including QuicKeys and Synk Pro, which we use in our production workflow. With Application Enhancer installed, QuicKeys will freeze during macro creation, and Synk Pro quits as soon as it's launched. Unfortunately, I purchased most of their haxies before finding this out. I've tried to find a workaround, but the only workaround was to completely remove everything from Unsanity. Buyer beware if you want a stable system.

Wow, that was fast. Just two days ago I commented that Gmail Browser didn't save window sizes or positions, and now, with this update, it does. Thanks to the developer for adding this.

This could really be useful to me if the developer would add the capability to remember window positions and sizes. Until then, I'll still have to access Google Calendars through Safari.

UB today! Hooray!

This is a very nice app, and I've been using it for over a year now, and even when running through Rosetta, it was pretty fast. Some of the effects can seem "canned" or "cheesy", but overall, there's a lot to choose from when it comes to some pretty cool effects, and all without have to touch Flash. Well worth the money, and definitely a time-saver.

Nice and quick CD/DVD burning utility, but it still doesn't replace Toast for me. Agree with earlier comment on black interface though. It would be nice to be able to change the color of the window and text. The smoke is just eye candy, so I don't see why there are negative comments about it. Just turn it off.

To me, this was a life saver. With over 5,000 photo in my iPhoto library, I had used the free Keyword Assistant to keyword most of the library, but it still didn't seem efficient enough. To those that haven't tried Keyword Manager yet because they were afraid of the $19 price tag, buy it at the developer's $12 promo price. After an hour or so, you'd probably agree that it was worth $19 or more if you have a sizeable iPhoto Library. With Keyword Manager, I keyworded nearly 500 photos in less than 15 minutes. I truly could not use iPhoto without it now.

Wow! Are you sure you want to charge only $139 for an XTension that scales? I hope this is a typo. You can get suites of XTensions that include a Scaling XTension for nearly the price of this individual XTension.

Excellent piece of software. Works fast, smooth, and flawlessly on my Intel iMac 20". Did someone really compare this to Backlight (last version was December 11, 2003)? Is Backlight continuosly being developed, and is there a universal binary yet? I'd gladly pay for low price software that's continuosly developed and improved rather than use free abandonware that's 3 years old (Jaguar-compatible?).

Version 7.0.2 fixes our last remaining issues. This is a good update, and thank you for the Universal Binary. I especially like the ability of creating a gradient blend of 2 different colors where only one of the colors has transparency,

Still easier and faster to use than InDesign CS2 which I can now dump off of our computers.

Version 2.0.1 still has problems with QuicKeys. QuicKeys will lock up after choosing the "Choose Menu" button in creating a new macro. I've sent reports of this to Unsanity, but most of my emails to them go unanswered. I really wish they would fix this. At this point I need QuicKeys more than I need Unsanity's products, so off they go.

For those of you who think this is a "joke", you might want to read a review by MacWorld here:

http://www.macworld.com/weblogs/macgems/2005/04/screencleanerpro/index.php

Just because Ambrosia put entertaining animations in it doesn't make it a joke or a hoax. It really does adjust the gamma of monitors.

I'm having a problem with 1.3.2 that happens in several programs. Font styles in submenus cannot be chosen, it only defaults to the main listed font in the main menu. If I'm using ITC Berkeley, and I want to choose the italic version, it won't accept the change and keeps the regular version. The font set is complete, but FontCard won't allow the style change. I have no problems with You Control: Fonts, but I like the fact the FontCard works in the app's own font menu and not a separate one. I've contacted Unsanity twice in the last month via their email tech support and have yet to hear a word. Terrible support!

Very nice little tool. I just paid my $8 for it. One feature I'd like to see however is the ability to view a group of images at thumbnails (aka Apple's own Slideshow CM feature).

TypeIt4Me used to be the only show in town, but now there are a couple of others: Typinator, which has a of $19.99, and Textpander, which is free. I have been using Textpander for a couple of months, and must say that there is no justification in paying $27 for TypeIt4Me. Textpander is the best of the lot when you consider price, functionality, and integration with the OS. Textpander is also a preference pane, which what the others SHOULD be. Before I get flamed by the users of TypeIt4Me, remember, this is my opinion, and I have used all three.
