Cheap Impostor
Feb 10 2010
*****

HAMISHMACDONALD  This program is the most visually friendly and non-confounding imposition application available for the Mac.

Please, Dylan, add N-up settings to Cheap Imposter, or even produce "Expensive Imposter", and if it's anything like this application, a grateful community would be happy to throw money at you.

Dock Spaces
Oct 19 2009

HAMISHMACDONALD  After a lot of trying, I just can't get this to work (under Snow Leopard on a MacBook Air, using the latest version of DockSpaces, 3.01).

I've linked my docks to different spaces, but each time I change one dock, all the others change -- even if I specifically load one dock, make changes to it, then load the next, change it, etc. As soon as I change Spaces, the dock messes up, with dock #2 becoming dock #1, and so on. So I correct all the docks, and as soon as I switch Spaces again... a mess. My Work dock is now my Play dock from two sets of changes ago, etc.

This is a beautiful app, and the theory of how it works is great, but in practice I can't get it to behave as it says it will.

It seems to be working for others, though :(

Tumblr Stack for RapidWeaver
Aug 26 2009
*****

HAMISHMACDONALD  2bits have done it again! It was amazing to gain this functionality at all through Stacks, and now they've gone and added every possible feature I wanted, and more to boot.

I'm grateful for this, as it gives me an easy way to add semi-disposable updates on the home-page of my RapidWeaver-generated site. (You know, something between the disposable, constantly-changing Twitter updates and the more involved blog posts that are buried deeper in the site 'cause they're not the first thing I want people to encounter).

Thanks, 2bits!

RapidCart
Jun 12 2009
*****

HAMISHMACDONALD  I've used GoogaLoom, PayLoom, and now RapidCart. RapidCart blows the other two away, because it doesn't require users to interact with an unexplained pop-up PayPal window every time they add something to their cart. Instead, items' icons swoosh up into the cart icon, and all the shopping cart functions are integrated into the page, hovering there (through Ajax or whatever magic is running it).

I switched to this plug-in and am very happy with it. I think it provides a much more graphically polished and pleasing look on my site, and must inspire more confidence in users because of the visually self-evident way it carries out the shopper's selections.

It also allows for pop-up menus that change each item's features; my only wish is that these could affect the price (so I could have users choose local or international shipping, for instance, instead of having to host two separate shops on my site).
