HAMIDLMT  Looks promising. I was able to convert one video clip in the demo mode. After that, it keeps crashing when trying to convert.

HAMIDLMT  Thank you so much for the update! I was heartbroken when the widget stopped working awhile ago. It's one of my most used widgets and it just happens to do it's intended job wonderfully. Thanks again!

HAMIDLMT  A brilliant waste of time! However, this really should be a widget.

HAMIDLMT  Once I finally got it to work with a restart (rather than a cold start), it worked brilliantly!

Useless! Excellent! Dig it!

Now, I just need to meet up with another 15" Powerbook user... I see your Shwartz is as big as mine!

HAMIDLMT  The absolute worst on-screen text rendering I've ever seen. Kerning seems randomly off. Text input is sluggish and jerky on a 1.67Ghz Powerbook. I can't even get into deep features; the surface is inhospitable to any sort of work. Word processors are all about the input and output of text. So far, Abiword has fully missed the point.

HAMIDLMT  If you don't dig the X11 dependency of OpenOffice, then try NeoOffice.. it's great! NeoOffice is the port of OpenOffice without the need for X11.

DKELLEY  Thanks, but I'd take java over X11 any day!!?? X11 on a mac is a user interface running WITHIN a user interface, and while it works great, it's annoying to have to quit X11 after you quit an X11 application, and have X11 ask for confirmation before quitting.

Java is a programming language and runtime system. It's completely different. It doesn't require you to run everything within a second user interface (thankfully), it is VERY FAST (has been for the last couple of years at least now), and you'd be surprised how many major apps for OSX are written in Java.

Ever used the #1 FTP application called Cyberduck? Just an example...

Anyway, back to the comments about this - THANKS to the person(s) who compiled this for intel. Obviously it's not an official release yet on the open office site, which is a pity, but it's what the users of new macs need - a native, high speed, major, complete office suite that is completely MS compatible and completely (legally) free! This should be installed on new macs by default... but then I guess Apple would never sell iWork '06. (Which I have by the way and is nice, so kudos to apple for improving Pages some).

Cheers,

DBK

DKELLEY  oh yes - and Neooffice isn't native for intel macs yet. That's the whole point of this release - it runs natively on intel macs, so it's FAST FAST FAST. When neooffice does the following:

- makes a native intel version

- releases version 2 of open office

That's when I'll move to the neo release. Otherwise I'm sticking with this one from now on.

HAMIDLMT  I agree with some of the other reviewers... slow once you get into mildly complex edits. I bought this for a project. I so rarely have a need to modify a .pdf, but a need arose. I downloaded the demo and started making changes... it worked brilliantly! I thought... hey, this works great, I'll buy it! Shortly after the purchase, the slow crawl to virtual unusability began.

The program bogs down quickly. I sent an email to the developer and they quickly responded. They asked for a sample file and I sent it. So far, the issue hasn't been addressed and it's been months.

It got me through a problem... but, it was a pure pain to use.

PEANUT BUTTER  I agree. So slow, it hurts my wrist, arm, and shoulder.

Took me 25 minutes to fill out a 2 page form that would have taken less than 2 minutes with pen and paper!!!!

Text is slow, adding an image is worse. A 4K image causes a rainbow pizza wheel of death each time i move it anywhere on the screen.

It would be faster to open the file in illustrator or photoshop.

$50 for this? They must be kidding.

HAMIDLMT  Plays movies great... but... When playing in a browser window or tab (tried Safari and Shiira) and that window or tab is closed it quits the browser. POOF! Tis unacceptable.

Get rid of this bug and it'll be a great proggie.
