The Hit List
May 19 2009

GRIZZLER  At the end of my 14-day trial with OmniFocus, I thought I would give this a try. I'd already used Things and wasn't particularly fond of the way it handled attachments to tasks or the interface itself. I like The Hit List for both ease of use and functionality, better, in my opinion, that Things or Omnifocus.

Mailplane
May 19 2009

GRIZZLER  I hesitated to buy Mailplane. It seemed that the web browser and Mail could do the job managing gmail. But I took the plunge, plopped down $25, and I think it was a good decision. Mailplane definitely improves efficiency for me, with my two gmail accounts. Switching between one account and the other is easier than using Firefox or Safari. Mailplane handles attachments and photos better. Bottom line: It's a good interface for the gmail app, money well spent.

Backblaze
Apr 15 2009

GRIZZLER  it does work outside the U.S. although you may have to have a U.S. billing address to sign up. Not sure. Also, not sure if you need to restore via the USB drives, whether they will mail them out of the country. I live in Europe most of the year and use Backblaze to backup my entire computer. I occasionally have to restore from the web interface so having the USB drive shipped has never been an issue for me.

Backblaze
Apr 15 2009

GRIZZLER  I've used Backblaze for several months, and I love it. The key selling points for me were that 1) it backs up my computer in the background; 2) unlike Time Machine, it backs up my data offsite; 3) the user interface and functionality were better than Mozy's, which I also used for several months; and 4) the restore options are great, including the option to pay for overnight delivery of a USB drive containing the backed up data.

YOGI COACH  I live in Canada and had no trouble subscribing using my Canadian VISA card and mailing address. As far as I can tell Backblaze can be used just about anywhere in the world.

NILAYP (BACKBLAZE)  Nilay from Backblaze here.

Yes, you can absolutely use the product outside the US. We should accept your credit cards from anywhere in the world.

Also, we have and will ship USB hard drive restores to anywhere FedEx allows us to. So far, we've sent them to exotic destinations such as Belgium, Ireland, and Australia. (Well, for us, those are more exotic than San Jose, CA...)

Good luck... and if you need more assistance, email us - helpme at backblaze dot com.

MailSteward
Jan 7 2009
*....

GRIZZLER  Buyer beware! I too purchased MailSteward for $50 with free upgrades, but the next major upgrade, which was less than a year after my purchase, would have cost me $20, even though my original order acknowledgement read:

* If you ordered MailSteward, you are entitled to free upgrades. *

I wrote the developer, but he would not budge. So I abandoned the software altogether, effectively losing the initial investment.
