Just change the frame size to 480x360.

Or crop with Preview.

Ripped "Complicated" music vid from Avril Lavigne "Let Go" (enhanced disc). Used 1_avi.avi from the disc. Worked great. Currently converting "He Wasn't" music video from CD single.
