GHOKIE  This looks like exactly what I've been needing... however, when downloaded from the developer's site and launched, there is a reference that the Beta version has expired.

Would love to try a working copy.

GHOKIE  Looks like a helpful little program but could not get it to launch (showed up in the menu bar, but that was all).

Tried both v1.2 and v1.2.1 today. OS 10.4.11.

THATINKJAR  Hi,

Thank you for letting me know about this. Could you e-mail me at thatinkjar@googlemail.com with any more details?

I will be installing a copy of 10.4 on my second Mac before the weekend, so that I can thoroughly test Tiger compatibility prior to future releases.

Thank you,

Jon

HAZMAT  When it's open, hit Expose. I found it popped up a welcome window in the background, so I couldn't use any menu items until I clicked OK.

Dev: please do something about this. Most people probably won't think to check for something like this and just think the app doesn't work.

THATINKJAR  Hello hazmat,

This should be fixed in the next version, which is due for release this weekend. Thanks for your help.

GHOKIE  Nice idea, and pretty to look at, but I couldn't enter any stocks. Tried "aapl" for my favorite company, and "T" for AT&T, but the widget couldn't locate either issue. Also couldn't determine where to define the exchange as the developer claims.

Hope these issues get resolved.

GHOKIE  Nice, simple, easy to use. Does what it says it will do - and the price is right! Thanks for sharing this.

GHOKIE  I used to use MenuCalendarClock, but was annoyed by the constant reminders, even though I always disable the extra features.

All I want is a small little calendar that lives in my menubar and is there when I need it, and not when I don't. MagiCal does just that.

CHAS_M  Re: the comment about MenuCalendarClock

I'm not knocking MagiCal, but what you said about MenuCalendarClock simply isn't true. I own the program and get NO reminders (because that's how I like it) unless and until I click on the menubar icon.

MagiCal looks nice and is free, so it's perfect for some. MenuCalendarClock has a few more tricks up its sleeve, however, and some may feel it's worth the small shareware fee.

I entreat any readers to try them both and make up your own mind.
