WIFITUNES It works like this:

When you select a playlist in wifitunes, the playlist is selected in iTunes. If iTunes was playing a song before selecting a playlist, it will play the current song from the now selected playlist. If iTunes wasn't playing, wifiTunes will check if the current song is playable.

In both cases, if the current song is not playable by iTunes, wifiTunes will return to the playlist selection.

In both cases, if the current song is playable, you can press the "arrow left" to get to the track list of the selected playlist.

Now if, and only if, your playlist is not longer than 500 tracks, it will be shown in the order iTunes will play the tracks. You can select a track and it will start playing. If your playlist is longer than 500 tracks you will see "too many tracks", that is A) because Apple Script, which is used to interface iTunes is a bit slow in getting the track list, and B) 500 tracks are allready way too many to scroll thru in mobile Safari.

That is why we plan to incorporate a track search in a future release.

But I do have lots of playlists, if I pick ANY playlist it goes to a particular track from an album Drum and Bass Arena. It shows the album artwork for this album and thats it. I page back and get a comment 'too many tracks' then page back to my playlists pick another and bang, straight back to drum and bass arena. I tried restarting itunes. Have you tried to start playing a song manually and then start using wifiTunes?

WIFITUNES As we mention at http://wifitunes.wordpress.com/limitations/ the list of track in the current playlist is limited to 500, cause it would take ages to scroll thru all the tracks with mobile Safari. If it is larger you see "too many tracks". The only usable way to select specific track would be an search feature, which is planned for a future release.

DOUG S. I also have quite a few playlists with over 500 songs, over 1,000 isn't exactly uncommon either. You should make the song-limit a variable that can be set by the user, or at least make it something you can disable.

WIFITUNES If you really want to change this number, find the file gettracklist.scpt in the wifiTune.prefPane bundle and change it in the line "if (count each file track of current playlist) is less than 500 then" to whatever you like.

But you will see that higher numbers are not practical.

TOFERGREGG Yes, it seems that there is still a problem for some users. It normally works if you double-click on the site name _twice_, and you close iWeb between each click.

DIGITALCLIPS Actually, Easy iWeb is slightly different from most FTP apps. I use many FTP applications and the problem with them is they cannot tell which files have been changed in an iWeb 'Publish to folder' action. You will find all files seem to have changed and all will get uploaded even if you only changed one (unlike publishing to dot Mac where just the changed files will go up). Even the folks at Transmit, my favorite FTP app, are still trying to solve this last time I spoke with them. Easy iWeb will only upload the files you changed no matter how large the site and it is very useful for this reason.

MUSASHI I experienced the same problem. I tried multiple times, downloaded it again and still had the problem, so it wasn't a corrupted download. I've tested plenty of alpha and beta software over the past 10+ years and never ran into any that couldn't even install properly. I had never had a previous version installed.

1) Launch Disk Utility.app (from /Applications/Utilities) and do a "Repair Disk Persmissions" for your startup disk.

2) Download Little Snitch again at:

http://www.obdev.at/products/littlesnitch/download.html

3) Reinstall Little Snitch Do _not_ move the installer anywhere! Launch it right from the virtual disk!

ICEBREAKER I had the same problem as you were and the screen saver kept telling me it didn't have any pics saved and that I might want to lower my picture frequency. Anywho, checked my log, had simmilar errors as you, most importantly

I figured it's a permission error so I went to the directory only to find the user didn't have a screen savers folder yet (they all went to the root library) I just created a Screen Savers and TimeLapse Images folder where they should've been and the thing works like a charm. Good luck!

However it does not seem to allow for folders in the bar, this is a serious oversite for me and deal breaker, I should not have to multi click to find my sites, and frankly I cannot get to grips with all this deliceous nonsense, why can't I just drag a preferred site to a folder in the bar like EVERY other browser? On the up side, it looks slick, and looks like an OSX app, where as firefox out of the can looks like crap. I really like the integration of flickr which works really well, but part of me just thinks, I keep on using the free one which plugs right into iPhoto where all my pictures actually reside, this is indeed the problem with all these applications which try to do everything but land up just being a pain. MACNORSK There are updated drivers. If you open the package and dig to the resources folder, there is a dmg with the drivers on it. Instead of wasting a CD, I mounted the DMG and dragged its contents onto a flash drive, rebooted in Windoze and installed them. The updated drivers are better. Screen dimming now works better and it seems more zippy. One thing I wish it had though was support for multiple screens. I can't get my MBP to turn on my second screen in Windoze.

VALENS ...X11 is the most cross-platform windowing environment of all, supporting architectures from your run of the mill x86 to DEC Alphas running BSD. X11.app is universal, and trivially so because Xfree86 has been supporting numerous architectures for a long time.

X11 shouldn't affect your current windowing system (bveyond taking up a few megs of disk storage) at all, once you quit X11.app. All it does is run a Xserver.

JCTULL I would agree with the previous reply comments. Additionally, there is no reason why your system would be slow because of X11 unless you were running a cpu or vide-intensive X11 app and your machine is underpowered (or short on RAM, etc.).

Xfree86 is a very low overhead windowing environment. My guess is you had something fairly messed up that happened to co-occur with your X11 experience. Based on your comments, it is clear that there is plenty of room for error and misconception.

DP-G4-450GUY You must also realize that X11 is a part of OS X - "universal" has to do with being both PPC and Intel hardware-based Macintoshes, not excluding X11.

X11 brings a whole range of 'nix based software to the Mac and should be embraced warmly.

NO ONE ..... is going to re-write GIMP as a Cocoa application. GIMP is open-sourced and HUGE. It would be a massive endeavor to re-write it from the ground up. And I would estimate that without funding . . .

JCTULL Although the Seashore project is a partial port of Gimp (or gimp-based) code to Cocoa. Certainly not nearly the feature-set of Gimp, but I nice little app for occasional use, like adding text to an image, etc.

VOISINE Actually there is a quartz port in the works for gtk, the windowing toolkit used by gimp. I was able to compile a version of gimp.app that did not have any X11 dependencies, however it crashed when displaying the initial tool window. When the quartz gtk port is stable I will be able to eliminate the X11 dependency just as the wingimp port does not require X11.

JCTULL I just spent a little time looking over the mail list archives for gtk devel. Unfortunately, a key leader in the port project was hired by Apple and can no longer work on the project. (Unfortunate for a native gtk2 port, but good for Anders.) I am not sure if progress is as rapid as it was late last year, but let's hope for the best. If this succeeds, an X11-free version of the gimp will be possible on the mac.

MAGNUS N�SMARK If MS made their Codec Open Source, or at least provide details for developers of Open Source apps, I am sure it would be in VLC, but they don't. That is also the reason there is no support for Real either.

CoverTunes	Apr 3 2006	GARYI Umm, it has potential. The main gripe would be that this needs to work a little like front row. The developer needs to see if as a product that would be used across the room. There is so much free space in the middle which could be big text for each song. Getting to a track is not intuitive, you have to start a whole album before getting to a track number = Bad. The search is quite poor, if you start typing for something and make a mistake hitting delete simply gives and alert you have to escape the whole search and start again. The rendering is pretty poor. GAND Gimp.app need X11. Portable Gimp.app means that you can have it on your portable drive, iPod or USB thumb, and run from it without install on the machine you are using. Instead, you have to install X11 if is not present.

It looks like a directory in your Library folder has unexpected permissions, making the install fail. Try executing this in Terminal then installing again:

Apple Front Row	Mar 2 2006	GARYI I have a couple of issues with front row: in the music section I have around 9000 songs lots of different artists and albums, scrolling though takes a long time, you also have to go A>Z Playlists show up only as the songs, I tried setting a playlist of Artists beginning with A, within itunes you would see them artists and there albums and songs, in front row it goes straight to songs which is useless. If you accidentally page back from selecting and go back, your right back at A! No proper separate monitor support, I have to get up and change the iMac to mirror display, so basically you have to make settings on the computer before using the remote. This renders the programme a half arsed waste of time. (Version 1.2.1)		0

EXILIO I agree about the spell checker, I am addicted to having it. And I prefer it over SpellChecker. Plus, I like that my bookmarks in Safari sync with my .Mac account.

If more browsers made the transition from a crappy browser like Safari easier, more people would switch; myself included.
