Batch Image Resizer | Oct 23 2009 |
FULMAR2 Thanks for the review. In response to your request, we added some features for version 1.2: We added the ability to save the images in different formats. We also added another "Fit To Box" resizing option. We added a warning so that users do not accidentally save the resized image over their original image. (Version 1.1)

Zip Mac Files for PC | Apr 8 2009 |
FULMAR2 FOLLERRC - Thanks for your straight-forward input, and good suggestion. I will see if I can change the header with MacUpdate to help people better understand the purpose of this product. Also, you're right - many (skilled) PC users have no problem figuring out how to deal with zip files created on the mac using the right click + create archive feature. Our website even has video instructions to help users use this (free) method if they want. Meanwhile, there are still many, many PC users who would get a zip file created in this way, and be "uh... what?" If you have clients / vendors who fit this profile, and you don't have time to spend educating them on the wonders of a Mac, and why Mac Zip files look this way, then this program can help you out. Also, as mentioned before, many of our customers use automation to process zip files - and their automation is expecting a specific directory structure. Rather than jam their automation, or make them re-write code, we simply cater to their needs by giving them a file that they can use. It's simple. (Version 1.8)

PDF Merge | Jan 9 2009 |
FULMAR2 Thanks for your review. The answer to your question - "why would you pay for this feature..." is because this functionality does not come with 10.4 tiger. If you want to combine PDF files in tiger, you need to download some 3rd Party PDF combining software. There are limited trial versions like PDF lab and PDF combine, but once the trial period expires, you must pay $30. So, your alternatives are upgrade to Leopard, or try any one of these free trials (including PDF Merge, which is less expensive than any of the aforementioned options). (Version 2.3)

FULMAR2 SHRALLDAM - thank you for your input... Depending on one's needs, this program definitely has time saving value. For example, one can make zip files for free if they wish using a number of free utilities. Furthermore, it is possible for a user to create a zip file from the command line - even one that does not have the .DS_Store files included. There are many options available. This program is for people who want to quickly and easily create zip files that will be sent to PC users. For people who will sent Zip files to Mac Users, they can use the "create archive" feature built into their mac. If they want to use the command line, they can do that for free as well. Lastly, users can download similar freeware or crippleware, and make donations to the author. The choice is up to the end user. (Version 1.7)

FULMAR2 Combine PDFs is no longer free. It is great software - but now I see that they are charging $30 US after the trial period expires. Another reason to chose Merge PDFs is that the Merge PDF software comes with the PDF libraries - and thus does not depend on the PDF libraries installed on your Mac. PDF combine is an excellent piece of software - easy to use, and it works on most Macs. If PDF combine does not work for you, here you have a less expensive alternative. (Version 1.0)

FULMAR2 Thank you for your comment. Preview will allow you to open PDF files, however for those who have Leopard OS 10.4, it is not possible to merge the PDF files into one file without another application. (Version 1.0)

Zip Mac Files for PC | Nov 3 2008 |
FULMAR2 BEIGE - Thank you for your input, though I don't appreciate your final comment about getting another job. I agree that the "Create Archive" feature that comes with Mac OSX is fine if you need to send zip files to other Mac users. The point of this program is not to replace that fine feature. When you create zip files that you send to PC users (you know WINDOWS users) they discover files that most of us Mac users cannot see. Prior to the implementation of this program, some of my customers would call to ask about the .DS_Store files, or the __Mac_OSX folder. Worse yet, customers who used automated methods for dealing with zip files would often be unable to automatically process zip files that I made using "Create Archive." The reason was the hidden files. Windows users are accustomed to receiving zip files from other Windows users, and they code their systems accordingly. This program makes zip files created on your mac work seamlessly with their systems. If you don't need to send zip files to windows users, you don't need this program. If you do, it is a wonderful solution. (Version 1.0)

FULMAR2 Thank you for your review. After reading your review, I downloaded PDF combine, and found that it beautifully performs the same task as my PDF merge program. So, yes, you are correct - you can have the same thing for free from another author. Nevertheless, your comment is kind of paradoxical in the sense that you encourage others to pay for something that you plan to download for free. Anyway, I agree, this program does not do anything more than PDF combine. (Version 1.0)

FULMAR2 Andrew - yes, you are correct... somewhat. For those who are running Leopard, this option exists in preview. There are still many people using previous version of OSX (and preview) that don't have this feature readily available. In fact, it is possible to create an automator action to do the same thing as my program (more-or-less). The advantage to this program, besides the fact that it helps people who don't have 10.5, is that it is a drag-and-drop app that makes quick work of the task to combine PDFs. Even with Automator and preview, it would be difficult to specify the order in which the PDFs are combined. Thank you for your comment. (Version 1.0)
