Carbon Copy Cloner
Apr 17 2009

FSCKTHEMEMBERSHIP!  I've made donations over the years to the developer especially during the early years of Mac OS X when the transition from Mac OS 9 was rough (i.e. restorable images, clone, etc. for the lab) but, the advertisements for OWC (I purchase from this company often) while cloning is less than professional.

Make it shareware, retail or opt-out of the banner ads...

Keep a simple program simple…do not create a CPU resource hog!

StuffIt Expander 2010

FSCKTHEMEMBERSHIP!  Returning to version 12 for the following:

1. Installer - why?

2. Icon - confusing, previous version actually looks like what it's suppose to do.

3. Only reason to keep v12 is for the pre-OS X files, Windude attachments or eck .sitx files.

SmithMicro just ruins the 'Mac experience'...when they get there 'PC mitts' on software (e.g. FAXstf was great then there first post-SM update -> crap)...back to StuffIt.

If you have version 12 then keep it for retrieving your pre-OS X files.

FSCKTHEMEMBERSHIP!  Lets see...

-paid cash

-workstation at home

-can't install the software without internet access and phoning home to activate

-Adobe will not now nor in the future even receive my IP or MAC address!

-oh, did I mention I pay cash...people need to understand staying within a budget, investing well and controlling your own destiny...

-I stand behind my comment, review and early retirement managing a self generated 'trust fund' at 37 yo!

Thank you...

FSCKTHEMEMBERSHIP!  Been using it since the beta and it's first rate for a 'non-PhotoShop as a living' kinda person...that said PhotShop Elements was okay but I refuse to buy any Adobe product that now forces you to activate via their servers...period! This is still the United States and it was built on freedom (barring nobama gets into office) so I want the privacy!

Frequent updates, friendly support and nice interface.

CREATIVE GUY  You people who complain about the two and a half seconds to activate Adobe apps crack me up. If you wouldn't pirate their software, there would be no need for activation. If you didn't pirate it, then they already have your personal information when you purchased it. Either way, they have your info, so get over it.

Logitech Control Center

FSCKTHEMEMBERSHIP!  I've used Logitech products since the beginning!

Still use the TrackMan Marble on the Platinum Mac and OS X without any additional software.

The TrackMan Wheel is a PC mouse POS without 3 finger buttons and ever since the change in software from MouseKeys (which was great in System 6-9) it's been down hill. MouseWare was the start of crap programming and whoring the company out to the Wintel crowd! With Logitech Control Center is just crap...where's the uninstall feature? Where's the stability? Where's the Leopard compatilability?

Feature state a lot of control if it worked!

Ease of use...well it's zero because most of the time we're waiting for a fix.

Stability is a minus 1 or 2!

FSCKTHEMEMBERSHIP!  Finally, death comes to Adobe PhotoShop Elements!

For a 'non-photographer' (i.e. I earn a living in a different field) this seems like the perfect solution while on the road with my MacBook Pro (i.e. allow the GPU to run the application freeing up the CPU for other tasks).

I appreciate the 'Mac only' approach and will only support these types of companies/individuals (e.g. PhotoShop came with the scanner)…especially younger folks hunger to make a mark in this world!

The user interface is fresh with Mac-like icons which if your looking at the screen for most of the day then who wants to look at crap just for an intellectual excerise (i.e. think line commands in DOS or Unix…geez).

FSCKTHEMEMBERSHIP!  Dear Roxio,

As an owner since the being of your software (including all previous companies), this is coming increasingly less "Mac-like"!.

1. What about Apple software developers guidelines?

2. Butt ugly User Interface - how about a preference or sheet to eliminate the "busy" stuff?

3. Why is there "Window" software within the package?

4. What is with all the dang animation? If I was to burn a disc then I should do not want to look at what appears like some Windows Vista Flash addition!

5. Animation - enough with the CPU sucking backhole.

6. Media Browser couldn't be put into a sheet or side bar?

7. Dang by the time the animation is done, I could have all ready burned a disc! What buy a new video card to feel like the application is speedy? Big step back!

8. I'm getting motion sick with the animantions...even with the enhancements turned off.

9. The left side needs to be adjustable! I'll need to buy a 30" Cinema display if I start having multiple applications open.

10. Thank goodnes for Disc Cover...a wooden stack into Discus!

11. Disc Catalog Maker is a nice touch for a freebie.

If you really need Jam, Popcorn, Tivo or "underground" Divx funcationality then buy it but this makes me want to beg Apple to create a more intuitive application.

FSCKTHEMEMBERSHIP!  I've used this program since the beginning but have become increasing frustrated with the "Windows-ish" interface, corny included art work and limitations when adding my own pictures (i.e. size limits without auto cropping). The speed is horrible!

I found the best of the best with BelightSoft Disc Cover (http://www.belightsoft.com/products/disccover/overview.php) - no affliation to this company! This is the most "Mac-like" program available and intergrates well with other iLife applications.

Discus was great for Mac OS 9 but has not keep pace with the iLife, Mac OS X and overall interface changes the make for a pleasurable user experience.

SJK  Based on some older comments from Magic Mouse (http://tinyurl.com/q3wnq) they're proud of the Discus UI.

To my eye, V4 is still aesthetically "cartoonish" like previous versions. Apparently that doesn't matter to MMP since they have enough satisfied customers who don't mind.

The overall usability is reasonable for things I've done (with the Toast-bundled V3), even if its feels so un-Mac-like. Some commonly used features are goofy, like the font chooser.

The UI could be more "sophisticated" and comfortable for OS X, without compromising easy of use.

FSCKTHEMEMBERSHIP!  Great they fixed the "oh, crap my serial number needs to be reentered"!

TTP 3.0.9 and previous versions are classic must have applications even in todays OS X environments because they work and can be trusted as for TTP 4.x…well why are things moving in reverse?

What is installed - if the application just needs to be copied then why the restart? Why install other language files, does the "installer" recognizing I only want English?

To the programmers, take a physicians approach…"first, do no harm"!

Speed - the only direction this appl could have gone was up (it was dog slow)…was it "improved and efficient" programming or just the "users perception"?

Why is the serial number transmitted to the mothership without being on a secure URL? Why should my personal s/n be "tracked" at work by some pimpled face high school kid watching traffic on the server logs?

Interface could be more "Aqua-ish" instead of the Windude sheet approach…geez!

Any control over the files that are generated? What's with the TechTool Pro 5 Preference folder? A free upgrade? Easter egg? Screwup? Trojan horse?

What files to repair? Bad File DatesBad File DatesBad File DatesBad File DatesBad File Dates

Didn't identify a section of "bad blocks" on an external FireWire HD…
