FRODO_LIFE yes can only agree to this have it rolled out on six machines and never did I have so many crashes. I was really applauding apple when they announced there would be no feature but all effort would be putting in creating a stable system but what a disappointment 10.6 was buggy as hell and the least stable system in years (Version 10.6.2)

FRODO_LIFE worst apple system release in years. Rolled this out now on six machines and never had software crashing that frequently from iPhoto, Freeway, Photoshop etc. I was really happy when apple said no new features but stability and usability improvements :-) I wonder what apple did over the past year??? LEE123 I totally agree. I never had so many crashers including kernel. Those who say nay are probably just not paying attention. MUDFLAPPER I'm curious, did you do any research before installing Snow Leopard to make sure your apps were compatible first? I was worried about Adobe CS3 but I haven't had any issues, yet. The only problem I've had is font related. I'm a designer so I always have problems with conflicts between Apple's fonts and my own Postscript Type 1 fonts when I make a major OSX upgrade. Otherwise, Snow Leopard has been great. I especially like the quick shut down and boot times. :) (Version 10.6.2)

Apple Mac OS X | Nov 9 2009 |
LEE123 Research before upgrade? What is this windows xp, vista? No, I just upgraded and will continue to just upgrade. It should "just work" as somebody said once. (Version 10.6.2)

Apple Mac OS X | Nov 9 2009 |
MUDFLAPPER Well then, there's your problem. Snow Leopard was a major upgrade. Adobe made it known that their products may not work properly under 10.6. OSX does just work. But it's common knowledge, and common sense, to make sure your apps are compatible with a major OS upgrade before you actually go through with it. (Version 10.6.2)

Apple Mac OS X | Nov 9 2009 |
LEE123 ahh yeah, I am gona check some 25 apps and pref panes? Come on guys give me a break. Is this what apple would want me to do, research for a couple of weeks after it comes out before upgrading? I dont think so. (Version 10.6.2)

Apple Mac OS X | Nov 9 2009 |
MUDFLAPPER No Lee, all you had to do is Google "software compatibility list snow leopard" and you would have been presented with a list of apps that didn't function properly under 10.6. Apple had a page on their site dedicated to the subject, as well. (Version 10.6.2)

Apple Mac OS X | Nov 9 2009 |
SNOWWHITESICKETTE Lee123, there was an update several years ago that wiped a few people's drives. I doubt that would happen today, but it's worth the time to research the upgrade. Making a full, bootable backup prior to installing an update is better. That way if anything goes wrong, you can fire up the backup and you are back in business. (Version 10.6.2)

Apple Mac OS X | Nov 10 2009 |
RICHARD HALLAS "Lee123, there was an update several years ago that wiped a few people's drives. I doubt that would happen today" Um, did you not notice all the talk about how logging into a guest account could totally and irretrievably wipe your main account on Snow Leopard? That's the primary bug that 10.6.2 fixes. Seems not that far removed from the case you're talking about, so yes, it certainly can happen today. (Version 10.6.2)

Transmit | Nov 24 2008 |
FRODO_LIFE good FTP client if it would not delete your files. Transmit has the habit to first delete a folder on your server and then replaces it which made me lose all my shopping cart settings. Say you need to update your cart and replace the folder admin I delete the config.php file from my updated folder and then drag the folder which does not contain the config.php file on my server so what does transmit do it deletes the whole folder on my server and replaces it with my new one without the config.php file. Any other FTP client I have used like Captain, Yummy, Cyberduck will only replace the existing files but will not delete the whole folder first which also deletes your config file. So be very aware. Transmit | Nov 25 2008 |
TEXINICK I can understand your frustration... the same thing happened to me. Upon further inspection though, when you upload a folder, you are given the option to Replace or Merge. Choosing Merge will do what you want. I just uploaded an update to Joomla, and even though I chose Merge, I was then asked for every file whether I wanted to Resume/Replace etc. I had selected Apply To All, and clicked Replace, and still I kept getting asked the same question for each file. So it WILL overwrite the changed files and retain the rest of the folder, but the problem with Transmit, for me, is that you are given too many prompts. You are in danger of hitting the return button, or mouse button, on an incorrect button just because you are going through the motions for each file. If I select "Apple To All', and then click the Replace button, I don't want to see that prompt again. (Version 3.6.7)

Invoice | Nov 3 2008 |
FRODO_LIFE I had a chance to work a bit more with the software and hence updated my previous review from 2 to 4 stars. To receive 5 stars the software would need the ability to send invoices via email straight out of Invoice3, needs to polish the UI, have a better manual and the price would need to be dropped to below $100. The developer is very responsive and attends matter very quickly. (Version 3.0.6pre1)

Invoice | Nov 3 2008 |
FRODO_LIFE Yes I have to agree the developer is very quick to respond and fixed the issue within hours, I also got to use the software a bit more now and think it's a good piece of software and does the job. What I would still need is the ability to email invoices from Invoice3 directly as this is a big draw back. Also I bought it as part of a bundle for $59 or so and that is a fair price over $100 I think is still a bit steep. (Version 3.0.6pre1)

SUNRISE Thank you for briefly reviewing SUNRISE Contacts 2008. It seems after listening to your comments that compared to other address books made with FileMaker Pro, Microsoft Access and even some commercial CRMs by other developers, that our UI design is basically at the bottom of the pack. This certainly differs markedly from comments by other users who have been pleased with the UI design. At any rate, we will endeavour to improve the product to meet any requirements or suggestions you have. For example, you mentioned the Mac UI and how you would like any Mac software product to conform to Mac UI principles. Without trying to justify our UI design, we strongly encourage you to send us specific details of areas in our UI design that you would like to see different. In fact, if you give us enough information (with examples) and the reasons are valid and sensible, we will be happy not only to make those changes, but we would be willing to give you a full working version of the product to keep if you like. If we don't hear from you again, thanks for at least downloading and looking at our product, even if the UI design does not quite meet your needs at this moment in time. (Version 1.8.3)

FRODO_LIFE lucky you then, working with FW for about 5 years now and with Apple Mac for about 15 years an FW 4 is one of the worst pieces of software I have seen during that time. I stopped counting bugs when I reached 100 and if there would be a collection of work arounds to circumvent bugs, inconsistencies or just bad GUI design it would be as comprehensive as the (missing) proper manual. But I guess it comes down what you expect from software if you have a lot of time, don’t mind frequently contacting support or the ridiculous mailing list forum where you cant search, don’t mind a often very user unfriendly GUI with little regard for usability, have no FW3 projects to upgrade and don’t make your living with web design and work on a single project then you might be not put of that much with FW.
