Blue Crab
Oct 22 2009
*....

FOTODIVR  I have used Blue Crab(p) for a while and liked it.

So, I sent my money to the developer. I wanted to unlock the product and felt the developer had earned his/her/their money.

Paid for it - no registration code returned.

Sent a reminder letter the next day. Nothing.

Sent a reminder letter three days later. Still no response.

And my use of the programme will be crippled in two days.

If I do not have a registration number by them, I will ask PayPal to reclaim the payment. (Yes, you can do that).

Developer! if you want people to buy your product, you need to learn about service AFTER the sale.

One star for service!

FOTODIVR  Obviously, the author of this application can't make any $$$ performing Feng Shui consults. so he/she/it/they had to write a very poorly created and executed application that does not follow the Black Hat or compass advisory processes.

Maybe the next time they buy Cherrios they will get a auto mechanic license!

And I concur with the rest of the commenters - overly priced!

KEVIN ROSS  I would like to start off by saying that I am NOT a feng shui consultant. I made this application during my wife's F.S. schooling after watching her plot out the same maps by hand using pencil and paper. It was designed to accurately plot the map over a client's space by using the compass reading. This is especially useful for larger structure where sighting might not be practical.

It saves her time and $$ and we thought other people might find it useful so we released it to the public. Writing this app consumed quite a bit of my time and I priced it comparable to similar F.S. apps in such a niche market. I do not intend to make a living on it and I am interested to hear what you would consider a reasonable price.

I am also happy to hear more regarding how the implementation differs from what you expected, and I'm always open to expanding it further.

Saft
Sep 20 2009

FOTODIVR  GLIMS is different than GLIMMER... GLIMS is SAFT on steroids and it is free and it is true 64 bit. And the Developers are VERY responsive. I switched to GLIMS and am VERY happy. VERY. GLIMS has all of the features of SAFT and none of the hassles.

Saft
Sep 6 2009

FOTODIVR  Well, I have been a S(h)aft user since day one and have aways been happy with the results. I have even waited for the updates before updating Safari but this is the last straw.

To have to pay to use it in 32 bit for Snow Leopard is ludicrous. The developer should be ashamed! (and it doesn't even work properly with Safari in Snow Leopard at 32 bit)!

This is the best reason to switch to GLIM - Hmmmm - free and is not a SIMBL hack - and it works. 64 bit to come quickly (check out the GLIM comments here on MU).

And GLIM is more versatile. Nuf said.

I will remove S(h)aft from all of our computers (and I paid for licenses for all of them!) and no longer have this POS on my watch list.

MICHAELFUCHS  Thanks for pointing out Glims; wasn't aware of it.

Goodbye Saft, the sudden death of a once valued application...

Raw Photo Processor

FOTODIVR  It is interesting to see how people comment about having to actually pay for someone's work! Yes, I know we are all supposed to just enjoy the fruits of someone's labour without them receiving any compensation because that is how we all work. I mean if my boss said to me that I was not getting paid for the last year or more and would I be willing to work more for even less - I know I would jump for glee and dance around the room and go over and kiss his ... um... shoes... i would be so elated!

Now for for the software - this little tool does exactly what it says it will do and I like it. I have been a photographer for over 50 years (yes, before digital) and a digital photographer since 1995 - cameras were VERY expensive and not too many megapixels...

And I like this app.

Period.

Keep up the good work.

Charge more - you deserve it!

Cheers.

Saft

FOTODIVR  tried glims - as you call it - and it was too indiscriminate as to what it filtered.

Saft is much easier to train

I'll stick with Saft.

It usually only takes me three minutes to update Saft. Just follow the developer's instructions - a novel idea, aye!

MacPilot
Jan 31 2008

FOTODIVR  I really HATE - and I use that word very rarely in my life! - your registration process - every phuquen update! WHY????

Your website verification process sucks. I had to ask for anew passcode - went through the process and

firs the new one wold not work and then it told me to request another new one. I did and not only did it not work but it told me that this account had already received a new passcode so this request is denied!

What a load of BS!

You do this because you derive some perverted pleasure? I am not sure but it is such that I do not think I want to update again.

I have not only been a fairly consistent user - I have actually purchased MacPilot for all of my Macs (7) at home and my office!

No more. And I will tell my friends. Enough is Enough!

MacPool

FOTODIVR  OK... I bought his lovely little game to waste some time - so I installed it on my laptop.

It was a great kick. I bought a new laptop... installed this POS on my new laptop - (the old one went to one of the guys I work with) - and I brought the old laptop to new - as in the Welcome window new... all other apps (including this one) wiped clean.

I decide I am going to run MacPOS on my new laptop. I use the same email address and rego number (no where on the website does it say that the copy you buy is tied to one machine & EMAIL ADDRESS - FOREVER and if you buy a new registration number (which I did - just to play it fair) and have it sent to the same email address that you cannot use it on any other machine than the OLD machine that was originally registered to that email address! So, I have to get e new email address just to keep these (oh I want to swear so bad right now!!) "duh-velopers" happy.

Oh, I also wan to load it on my Mcpro - so I can waste time on a 30" monitor too...

Easy - yes? NO - Have ot hve a seperate email addres to register the other machine to.

What a phuquen waste of time !!!! For $25 USD. I think I'd rather eat nails!

Oh, I wrote a letter. No response. they sure were haoy to take my money twice.

$10 first time and $15 the second time.

Am I pi$$ed - yes!! Why - because as slick as their website is an as good as the programme is - the registrtion process is a pain inthe a$$.

I have a $13,000 scientific analysis applicationthat I can run on three machines - that al it requires is I enter the rego number - do a send back and "boom!!!" I am a happy user on all three machines!

Why is this so friggen hard?
