FONIK  Simply put, if port didn't exist I would not own a Mac.

PocketMac for Blackberry

FONIK  Terrible GUI and tends to crash or eat up ridiculous amounts of system resources. However, it DOES sync my BlackBerry and it IS free. It may not have the zen-level of interface that some people have grown to expect from Mac software, but at least it does its job. Also, being free earns an extra star in my opinion.

VoodooPad Lite

****.

FONIK  First, a few gripes:

- The link button is right next to the home button. I use it for a good 3 hours a day minimum (email tech support job :/) so I can wind up with links for random words all over the place.

- Requiring the purchase of the full version to save in some more portable formats? That's a little underhanded. I guess they have to make money somehow.

- "Check Spelling While Typing" must be set individually for every page and defaults to off. C'mon, if I turn on the spell checker I want it to STAY on. Am I missing a setting?

Besides that, GREAT product. My email productivity has been boosted to superhuman levels since I started using this to keep track of customers, bugs and common replies.

FONIK  Yet another glowing review for Quicksilver. I give ease of use a 4 instead of a 5, but only because accidentally mashing keys that include the trigger can lead to all kinds of bizarre stuff. :D

FONIK  Simply THE best GUI text editor on the Mac platform. It may not have awesome hotkey support like Vim, but the simple interface and easy set up make it my weapon of choice for Mac text hacking.

OrangeNote

****.

FONIK  I answer lots of almost form-letter style emails. I recently switched from mostly using VoodooPad to OrangeNote because of OrangeNote's hotkeys thingie. The developers were very accessible and answered my question about how to paste premade notes (control-apple-option and then the note number).

While I still keep my full wiki of common replies in VoodooPad, the hotkeys in this program do exactly what I need them to. I guess it's kind of a niche thing, but if you basically need a larger clipboard to hold all the stuff you commonly cut-and-paste, this little thing does the trick.
