FONGD  Sure, but for $50, I don't have an extra computer cluttering up my house for those few times that I get a hankering to play Arcade Boot Camp...

FONGD  I have the same problem. There's no way to get to the Help menu because it crashes as soon as it launches.

FONGD  Not to defend the seemingly invisible installation of Silverlight, but the README when you launch the installer explicitly states that it will install Silverlight: "This installer also includes a browser plug-in for Microsoft® Silverlight™, which allows you to play Smooth Streaming video content. This is installed by default. To disable its installation, click the Customize button on the Installation Type pane and uncheck the Microsoft Silverlight Plug-in option."

****.

FONGD  Handy utility for troubleshooting HTTP connections. Sure beats having to do this directly in Terminal.

FONGD  Yup, I launched NerdTool, add /var/log/system.log to the Default group, then change the font and font size. Nothing happens after I select the font or size. However, if I toggle the checkbox for the system.log entry, the log redisplays with the new font but the size seems to be completely ignored.

FONGD  I was looking at this as a replacement for MkConsole but 0.6 doesn't seem to respect the font size setting. It also took me a while to figure out that I have to toggle the logfile on and off before any font changes apply. This needs to be more intuitive, IMHO.

BALTHAMOS  Could you give steps to reproduce this error? Text size/type/color should change immediately after you modify one of those attributes.

BALTHAMOS  Maybe the name of the log is selected (like you are renaming it)? That would yield some of the errors you are getting. Do the font size, face, and colors change in the font selection box as you are changing them? Also, does this error occur when using a Shell log as well, or is this strictly a File log problem?

FONGD  I sent the developer a request for an auto-update capability and he wrote back that it's on his to-do list but that he hasn't had the time to do it. My guess is he wants something that'll work on the Mac, Windows and Linux versions he offers and as nice as Sparkle is, it's Mac only.

Billings
Sep 22 2008

FONGD  Sure, you can trial Billings 3 before committing to it, but suggesting that you can "easily" revert back to Billings 2 if you don't like 3 is somewhat disingenuous because there is no "downgrade wizard" (AFAIK) which means there is no way to keep data that you may have created using the Billings 3 trial (and running both 2 and 3 at the same time is not possible). The only way to "revert" back to 2 after using 3 is to constantly rename the Billings data folder when switching between versions 2 and 3, and (manually) make sure that your entries are in sync between the two versions. I'm not suggesting that the trial is useless, but suggesting that it's an easy process to revert back is a little misleading, IMHO.

FONGD  Yup, I have to echo the comments about the bugs and unanswered questions. I had a Billings developer even tell me he would get back to me regarding some performance-related bugs after several email exchanges (Billings generally uses about 50% of my CPU after it's been running for a few hours!) but I never heard back. I don't mind the upgrade price, but if I'm going to pay it, I want to know that the product will be supported. So far, I haven't been too impressed.
