It hasn't been in beta since 11/07. Keywurl is known to work with Leopard and Safari 3.1.

I missed this little gem when I was using the beta of Safari 3.1. I'm so glad it's back again!

I was importing a couple hundred photographs in to iPhoto from my Canon SD750 when iPhoto locked up while Deleting the Originals (I'll never do that again!). I instanlty came to MacUpdate to find a utility to recover my photographs from my 4GB SDHC card. I downloaded a couple. CameraSalvage is twice the price and not as easy to use. Exif Untrasher is free but is not easy to use and it locked up during the recovery. CardRaider is easy to use, effective and affordable.

The link to the download is dead. Too bad. This looks like the best minesweeper clone for the Mac.

Save yourself $20 and use Activity Monitor.app. It's in your Utilities folder.

This program does exactly what it claims to do, show the architecture of an application. Did you expect it to surprise you with something extra?

Also, just because the program works on your Intel-based Mac doesn't mean it's architecture is Intel native. It may be PCC code that is being translated to Intel-compatible code using Rosetta.

FinancesOSX (found here at MacUpdate here -> http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/21832) appears to do everything this application does, and more, for free.

I have a mortgage, car payment, car insurance, health insurance, life insurance, home insurance, etc and I'll second the first post. Prioritize your finances. Get rid of cable television, broadband internet, dinner out every other night, lunch at the nearest fast food joint every weekday, live in a reasonable house (which also has the side of lowering not only your mortgage but also the home insurance premium), drive a reasonable car (again not only does this reduce your loan payment, but reduces your car insurance also). People live way outside their means and then complain that they're poor. It's only their own fault.

It's been over a year since this beta version of 2.0 was released. This is my favorite VNC viewer. I wonder if development is dead, it appears to be. Bummer.

From the developers website:

"When you drag a file to the Trash, TrashCache will intercept the file and leave an alias in the Trash. When you empty the Trash, the alias is deleted, but the original file remains intact."

If I'm reading that right I can't actually empty the trash. If I think I'm emptying the trash, I'm really not. I'm just deleting an alias of the file I want to delete, but sometime in the future TrashCache will actually delete the file? Interesting, I guess.

A menu extra would be okay also. Some day we're all going to all need 50" screens all our menu extras from covering up our application's menus. This would allow for easy access to turn it on and off quickly.Actually the icon in the dock doesn't bother me as much as having an iCursor folder inside /Applications.

I can guarantee you that you don't want your standard user account to have the ability to delete files from the locations where AppZapper is deleting these files. If you were smart you would use Fast User Switching to log in to your Admin account and delete the application you needed deleted and then use FUS to switch back to your standard account. You want the security of a standard account but the power of a admin account? You can't have it both ways.

This is a fun application. Most of the built in effects are cool. A couple of suggestions.

One, implement this as a Preference Pane instead of a stand alone application. I would prefer this for a couple of reasons reasons. The first reason is because it's icon wouldn't need to be in the dock. Second, it would continue to work all the time because it couldn't be hidden. Third, it could also be set to start at login with out adding it to the startup applications.

Two, move the Effects folder out of the /Applications folder and in to /Library/Application Support/

Three, allow for exporting and importing of effects. Maybe the developer could host user-submitted effect at his website.

I didn't claim it made sense. In fact I would not pay for any bittorrent application because I download a torrent file about once every three months.

That being said there is still nothing unethical about what he's done. The developer of Transmission specifically made a choice to use the MIT License knowing full well that it allowed for resale of his original source. If it's his source and he doesn't care, why should we?

I wasn't aware that Transmit handled torrent files. Maybe you wanted to say it was based upon Transmission? Now that we have that straightened out let me straighten out another mistake in your post. Transmission while being OSS (Open Source Software) is released under the MIT License. The MIT License allows for reuse of the original source code in proprietary software that can be sold and/or released without it's own source code being open. Next time before you spout off get your information straight. Thank you.

With the addition of automatically pausing when the game is not the active application, undo, and the shadow piece, plus someone's advice on how to get the pieces to snap to the edge the feature set and playability has been much improved.

It's great to have another Universal Binary version of the classic "falling blocks game". The other UB version of the "falling block game" that can be found here on MacUpdate, Quinn, is currently in beta and has a couple bugs, but has a few more features also. One of the features is a shadow piece that shows where the block would end up if you dropped it. Most times I just watch the shadow. It also automatically pauses the game if it is no longer the active application. Another is the way it'll snap the blocks to the side instead of clicking it over step by step if the key is held for more than a fraction of a second. It has an undo feature too. It also has network play, including Bonjour support. A couple of the fun features it has is custom blocks and backgrounds. All that being said it appears that the development of the UB version of Quinn has stalled. An updated version hasn't been released since 8/31/06. I mention it's features because I hope that the developer of Sosume considers adding some of them.

Another way to always know your IP Address is to set a free Dynamic DNS service at http://www.dyndns.com/services/dns/dyndns/. A client for the service can be found at MacUpdate: http://macupdate.com/info.php/id/6999. See the first link for an explanation of the service and how it works.

The current version of xCode do not compile 10.2.x compatible code with it's standard install. Not to mention 10.2.x was released in August 2002 and is no longer updated by Apple. Anyone who is still using Jaguar but who's computer is capable of running Panther (built-in USB) or Tiger (Built-in FireWire) would be advised to upgrade for the increased stability, continued updates, and additional features.

While you can do this for free as you suggest, for less than $10, XSlimmer saves a back-up of the slimmed application so that you can verify taht it runs properly after slimming and is easy to restore if it doesn't. It also contains a blacklist of applications that don't operate properly, for one reason or another, after slimming that it will not slim. Not to mention it'll slim a whole folder of application a lot faster than manually clicking on each application one at a time. I think the guys are offering a discount of $3 if you buy before 12/10/06.

Now that we have that all straightened out I'm going to give it a try. As I said in my previous post I really like the GUI. Thank you for taking the best features of two open source applications and combining them to offer us this application.

The GUI looks great, but has anyone noticed that the FAQ for iCyclone is almost a word for word copy of the FAQ from smcFanControl? Compare the paragraphs about how they each handle the authentication with their own dialog box. It seems a little fishy. The source for smcFanControl is open source. Maybe iCyclone is based on the same source code? Has anyone tried this? I'd love to give it a try but am not interested in being the first.

While Monolingual has the capabilities to do the same thing the GUI is not as nice, it does not show the progress of each individual file, or does it show how much was saved from each file, just the total saved. This looks like a nice product. Will people pay $10, I don't know, but the developer is welcome to charge whatever price he feels is fair for his time. If people pay, good for him.

What does an Nondisclosure Agreement have to do with creating an utility that mimics a feature from an OS?

Even if he was under a NDA from Apple it would have expired when Mr. Jobs demoed the feature Monday morning.

If you are looking for a simple to use utility to manage the serial numbers of your applications then Licensed is it. The best attribute of Licensed is that it is designed to just store serial numbers, which makes the appearance clean and operation easy. Because it is a beta it is lacking features, understandably. It would be nice if it had a preference pane where default settings could be entered such as the owner's name and email address. These settings would automagically appear in the proper field when creating a new license. The fact that it has a list of built in Software Companies that it will auto-populate in to the "Maker" field is nice. It'll even remembers Makers that you type in that weren't originally in its built-in database. Another feature request would be the ability to "upgrade" applications and the upgraded application to appear nested in the newer applications entry. For example, if I own Photoshop 7 and I upgraded Photoshop 8 I would like to be able to upgrade the Photoshop 7 to Photoshop 8 therefore "attaching" the two together. This would also simplify the interface because it would only show the most recent applications. The built in search is great too. It's a very easy way to find just the application you're looking for. While I'm requesting features the option to show/hide columns would be nice. The Duplicate License is great for people who own multiple versions of the same applications with different serial numbers, though I'd like a Duplicate button in the toolbar. The ability to copy the serial number to the clipboard so it can be pasted in to an installer's dialog box is easy on the fingers.

Will AppZapper delete orphaned files from an application when the application package has already been deleted? If not then this isn't an AppZapper imitation then is it.

icon

AppZapper only works on 10.4.X whereas this application works on 10.3.9.

I wish people would stop thinking that they were the center of the universe and that if they think something is best for them that it must be best for everyone else.

We have been using DiskTracker X for what seems like forever, 5 or 6 years maybe? Back in the OS 9 days. I have recently considered switching to FileFinder because the GUI is superior to DiskTracker and even to Catalog, plus it'll import DiskTracker catalogs which will make switching a breeze. DiskTracker used to be one of the "couldn't live with out utilities" many years ago but it just hasn't kept up with the times.
