QuickBooks Pro 2009
Sep 29 2009

EXEGETEJR  We use QB pro 2007 (pc version) via Parallels and Vista (a terrible solution) but we're in Canada and Intuit continues to COMPLETELY ignore Canadian Mac users, leaving us with the 2004 Mac Canadian version as the last compatible version ... so we're stuck with Vista and the pc version. As such though swapping QB files with out accountant is easy enough - except for having to fire up a second OS just to do so! Wishing there was an alternative that could export a QB compatible file...

I've emailed and received dozens "customer care" calls from Intuit and their standard response is to tell me they "recommend using the pc version with Boot Camp and Vista"! Wow, that's great Intuit. It is mind-boggling how such a known and supposedly reputable company can operate this way...

Xslimmer
Sep 22 2009
****.

EXEGETEJR  I received Xslimmer as part of a MacUpdate Bundle purchase and continue to be very pleased with both the software and the developer's commitment to the product and support. For me Xslimmer has worked nearly flawlessly. The only issue I had was quite minor in regards to having Xslimmer save backups to a folder, which the developer was quick to respond and helpful. I give the product a 4.5 for clear and easy to use interface, good stable operation, effectiveness and developer commitment to the software and support. Xslimmer does what it says and does it well!

Cocktail

****.

EXEGETEJR  I bought Cocktail with a MacUpdate bundle in July of '07 and have been very happy with it. As far as I can tell, Cocktail does what it offers, very well, and I have had no issues. The developer keeps the app updated; in fact, I give the developer kudos for a stable app that only requires updating with OS updates! (I find it annoying to see an app get updated every few days or weekly). All-in-all, great general maintenance app!

BannerZest Pro
Apr 15 2008
***..

EXEGETEJR  I downloaded the trial pro version and really liked its functionality and ease of use, not to mention the built-in themes which are also nicely done! (not unexpected given their nicely done PulpMotion!) Unfortunately the price tag of $129 for the pro version is, as others have commented, simply too much. I use iWeb but have to use other programs to implement flash galleries... I'd like to use BannerZest, but alas, TOO much $.
