EVERYDAY SOFTWARE This application is made in REALbasic, not Cocoa, which explains some of its UI problems/bugs (open file dialog, controls being incorrectly colored, incorrect text size/font). While it works well enough, it would be nice to have it cleaned up a bit so it acts and looks more like a normal Mac OS application. (Version 1.8.3)

EVERYDAY SOFTWARE I was kicking the tires with 2.0 beta 2 and was disappointed that it was still very buggy. It has a lot of potential (the new features are great) but in just 10 minutes of minor testing I ran into several bugs (some that are still there from 1.x) and several new obvious bugs. I'm not sure I'd be willing to trust my banking to this program until the developer is willing to put in some real time testing it. (Version 2.0b3)

LOGICAT Beta software is absolutely supposed to be buggy. A beta release is designed to shake out the bugs, and most every beta includes an end-user license agreement or statement to that affect. Please don't rate an application poorly because the beta version is buggy. (Version 2.0b5)

ALEXIUSCA betas are not supposed to have the serious kinds of bugs that he's talking about. Did you ignore his point that these bugs existed since 1.x? Beta is such a bullshit label these days. It's just an excuse for not offering support on commercial products. (Version 2.0b6)

EVERYDAY SOFTWARE To follow up on my previous review, the new date ranges in the new betas are nice, but once you have the data, there is no way to analyze it quickly. The totals listed for basically all categories would be great. (Version 1.0b4)

EVERYDAY SOFTWARE Nice start, but needs many more options for creating smart folders. Specifically by month and date ranges. You can sort-of get there by doing a 'less than' 'greater than' months old, but that isn't static like a true date range would be. It would also be cool if you could issue refunds, etc from the UI. EVERYDAY SOFTWARE As someone else mentioned, not having the titles rollover in 3.0 is a bit of a pain. However, the main problem is it leaks/uses massive amounts of memory. After running it for a couple days it was using 400+ MB of physical memory vs 2.0 which only uses 15 MB. Back to 2.0 until 3.0 gets the kinks worked out. (Version 3.0)

EVERYDAY SOFTWARE I've seen countless crash reports with people running this with 'less than high quality' plugins. Most of the time users don't even know what it is or how it was installed. This leads to a support nightmare for developers who get blamed for unstable applications when it's actually Input Managers or Haxies causing problems. If you like a stable system; I'd suggest staying clear of this. (Version 0.8.1)

In Coda 1.0.1 we've greatly improved the PHP support. You may now specify a local root URL which will be used to preview local PHP files. EG: http://localhost:3000. Once you've specified a local root URL, you're files will also automatically refresh when editing linked CSS files. After saving a CSS file, all pages that reference that file will automatically refresh. Hope these improvements help improve your experience with Coda and if there's anything we're missing, just drop us a line at coda at panic dot com. :) Panic, Inc. (Version 1.0.1)

EVERYDAY SOFTWARE It's great that you can now sort recordings by date in the full screen interface! However, the changes to the Menu button functionality when using the Apple Remote are questionable at best. This is typical of EyeTV, two steps forward, one step back. Elgato would do itself a favor by hiring some better interface/usability designers. (Version 2.3.1)

EVERYDAY SOFTWARE I've been in contact with Elgato tech support on several occasions regarding the Applescript bugs I've encountered. However, I feel like I should append my initial review of EyeTV to include my most recent experiences. I have experienced several very serious problems with EyeTV and I caution anyone thinking about getting EyeTV to consider these problems before purchasing it. The first problem I've had is recordings occasionally end up being 0 seconds long, EyeTV simply fails to record properly. The second, and more serious issue, is EyeTV no longer reliably wakes up my computer to begin recording a show I have scheduled. I have an Intel MacMini, and it fails to wake up the machine more than it does. This is absolutely unacceptable since it prevents EyeTV from doing the one thing I bought it to do, record TV. To Elgato's credit, they have been fairly responsive to my bug reports and crashes, but their product testing could certainly be improved a great deal. (Version 2.3)

EVERYDAY SOFTWARE EyeTV is a fairly good solution for people wanting to watch/record TV on their Macs. However, it is definitely lacking when it comes to integrating it into a home theatre settings. I hope Elgato realizes this and is willing to add a full screen interface for viewing schedules and seeing what you've recorded. I've also experienced some stability problems with EyeTV including random hanging and crashes. (To be fair, the crashes seem to be less of a problem with 2.1.) I've also encountered numerous bugs in their AppleScript support/implementation which leads me to believe their product testing might not be as thorough as it should be. All in all, EyeTV does work as advertised, but a little more polish and addressing the lack of a full screen interface would go a long way. (Version 2.1)

NFINCH The Home Theater/TV integration is done with their EyeHome product which can work via wired or wireless (the way I do it) networks. It will take the eyetv recordings and display them in a full screen menu and then play them on your TV/home theater. The interface could use improvement but it works. (Version 2.1)

ELGATOSUPPORT Thank you for your comments about AppleScript support in EyeTV. Dozens of applications are using AppleScript with EyeTV right now, so I assume that most of the functionality works perfectly fine. Everytime a problem is reported to http://support.elgato.com, we are more than happy to research it, and make repairs when possible. Use http://www.elgato.com/index.php?file=support_feedback if you are reporting a bug but don't require any immediate help with it. So, if you see issues with AppleScript or any other aspect of EyeTV, make sure to let us know. (Version 2.2.1)

WADE You can easily change the master bookmark file to Explorer, and then export only those bookmarks to Safari. Bookit can do this, and it's actually pretty easy. Just select the Explorer bookmark file in the list, and select File->Set as Master Bookmark. I'm not sure how much more straight forward this can be. Also, if you have question about how to use Bookit, it includes full documentation which can be acessed from the Help menu. (Version 3.5)
