Worked for me with OSX 10.4 and Server 2K3. The server wouldn't authenticate me with built-in OS X Samba tools. With Dave - immediate success.

This is easier than trying to get IT to change the authenication scheme on the server installation (especially if there are only 2 Macs on the network).
