RODNEYOK What you are seeing here are the effects of disk I/O. There is no way to get around this when writing large files. It has nothing to do with the efficiency of the code.

EMT1 iTunes doesn't seem to be nearly as slow.

TODDGARVIN To my knowledge, iTunes doesn't actually re-write the file to include the updated information. iTunes only adds the updated information to its own internal database. Therefore, if you transfer the file to another machine, all of your updated data is lost.
