Type: ReviewDate: 1 Feb 2008 07:54Multiple currency support, automatic downloads for most major financial institutions, slick and fairly intuitive interface, trouble-free importing from multiple formats (OFX, QIF, CSV), great features like forecasting and graphed portfolio overview... these are all things I've been waiting for a Mac financial organizer to offer. And iBank3 has them.
I'm not really the power investor type, but I still spent all last night trying out this software. It's fantastic. I'm still waiting to see what Cha-Ching v.2 has to offer, but it'll be hard to beat the new iBank. I've already shifted all my accounts over to iBank from Quicken and won't look back.

Type: CommentsDate: 31 Jan 2008 04:00I also got a kernel panic on reboot after upgrading from 2.0.1 to 2.0.2. After a second restart, everything's grand.

Type: ReviewDate: 31 Jan 2008 03:58All it's missing is a contextual menu item to make it easier for custom blocking. Other than that, Safari AdBlock is the best and most intuitive freeware ad blocking plug-in for Safari. I'm really pleased with it.

Type: TroubleshootingDate: 20 Jan 2008 02:59I'm having the same problem as I was before with SB 2.1. I get the "first run" window, but I can't close it and Safari won't open a new window. The "first run" window also doesn't stop reappearing when I quit and relaunch Safari.
Does this have anything to do with having Safari AdBlock installed? Is anyone else having this problem too?

Type: CommentsDate: 15 Jan 2008 11:52$59? Really? $59?
I saw this pop up in my MacUpdate RSS and thought it might be useful. So I was going to give it a spin, but there's no way I'm going to pay $59 for story outline software with a few extra bells and whistles, no matter how nice it looks.
I really like the corkboard visual layout with photos for characters, but for my purposes, it's better to create a slimmed-down version without any word processing functions for, say, $20. That way, I can stick with Pages, Word, Bean or WriteRoom for writing and use Storyist exclusively for conceptualization and outlines.

Type: TroubleshootingDate: 18 Dec 2007 08:24When I installed SB2r2, on launching Safari I got a "first-run" dialogue window that explained the basics of SB. It included a small checkbox for setting automatic updates.
I couldn't close this dialogue box and I could not open a Safari browser window. Restarting the computer, repairing permissions and relaunching Safari yielded the same results. All I could do was force quit Safari and uninstall SB.
I really relied on SB when I was running Tiger. But SB2 has been nothing but flaky.

Type: CommentsDate: 3 Dec 2007 02:12Yeah, but ZMacSync and the AJZaurusUSB extension are two completely different parts of this software bundle. So ZMacSync could be buggy, and AJZaurusUSB.kext could be fully compatible.

Type: CommentsDate: 2 Dec 2007 17:30Does this mean the AJZaurusUSB kernel extension for accessing the Zaurus over USB is fully compatible with Leopard?

Type: CommentsDate: 1 Dec 2007 03:02Does this work in Leopard? Is it the sort of app that can cause major problems if it doesn't?

Type: TroubleshootingDate: 30 Nov 2007 09:587zX created an invisible or "hidden" temp file (.7zXtemp/) on my desktop, which wreaked havoc during a backup operation with Carbon Copy Cloner.
What happened was that somehow my entire user directory was aliased in this temp file, causing the clone operation to copy data infinitely (since the alias existed in the alias too).
I have no idea how this happened, but I'm wary about reinstalling 7zX now that I've upgraded to Leopard. Has anyone else experience this? Was it a bug left over from earlier versions of this compression app?

Type: ReviewDate: 16 Nov 2007 06:19All I can say is, "Wow." This v.11 beta finally feels like a proper, solid OS X app. I don't know if it can ever replace VLC as my primary media app, but it has some nice features (including Web vid clip downloading and lots of playback options) and it looks like they had someone with a modicum of taste design the GUI. I also like the installation prompt for launching the RealPlayer Donwloader agent on login instead of just doing it automatically.

Type: CommentsDate: 15 Nov 2007 03:56Make sure you're using the latest version. XLD was just updated for Leopard.

Type: TroubleshootingDate: 9 Oct 2007 05:21I just launched iMeem today, only to have it quit, launch my default browser, and present me with a page that said this:
"The imeem instant messaging client is no longer available."
Ah, well. it was a good run while it lasted. I didn't use this client an awful lot, but it was looking promising.

Type: CommentsDate: 24 Apr 2007 02:26Hear, hear. I agree with all the above. Though I love Transmission, I find that I'm constantly switching back to Az for selective file downloads and its much better download/upload reporting to trackers. Using Transmission, my ratio seems to go down but never up.

Type: ReviewDate: 21 Apr 2007 07:51I may be missing something essential, but I'm having a hard time understanding the real value of this app.
So I've matched my Address Book contacts to their Skype names. Cool. But that doesn't appear to have had any useful effect on the apps themselves. For example, the contact icons from AB don't display in Skype, and there's no Skype field in the AB IM section. Nor is there a "Call contact using Skype" option in SkypeToAddressBook.
Have I missed the point? Or is this more like a fun but pointless detour to Skyping rather than a direct (and more sensible) route?

Type: ReviewDate: 27 Mar 2007 04:41Wonderful app when used in conjunction with a Mac-compatiple GPS location device or a mapping app like Google Earth. I just used PGPSE to tag 200+ photos from a Paris trip using the coordinates from Google Earth, and it went smoothly. The coordinates appear in iPhoto's "Get Info" window and they can be used to map the shots in, say, Flickr for an interesting slideshow.
Best of all, PGPSE doesn't (as far as my testing goes) strip the other EXIF data from the photos.
v1.5 supports drag-and-drop, which was my only quibble with earlier versions. I don't really know how they could make it any easier.

Type: TroubleshootingDate: 29 Nov 2006 03:43No problems here. I was using Entourage 2004 as my primary e-mail app before the security update, and it's working as before now that the update is applied. I'm on 10.4.8/PPC.
Maybe, as another poster suggested, you make sure that all Microsoft Office patches are applied?

Type: CommentsDate: 29 Oct 2006 15:13Nope, they can't coexist. I tried it. An Inquisitor install trumps AcidSearch, though uninstalling Inquisitor puts everything back the way you had it (meaning AcidSearch is untouched).

Type: CommentsDate: 6 Oct 2006 08:04Very nice implementation, and should help to put an end to the menu bar burn-in I'm getting on my iMac G5's LCD. Mac OS X should do this by default.
As a few other posters have mentioned, there are a few bugs with Menufela.
- Doesn't play well with Unsanity's Windowshade "Minimize in place" option. Do so and the window will shrink and disappear somewhere offscreen. The only way to get it back is to quit the app and relaunch.
- The "new mail" envelope is showing on the Entourage icon permanently now. Quitting and relaunching doesn't get rid of it.
- On login, my menu extras hover at the top and don't vanish until the first time I call up the menu bar.
- Apps like iTunes don't like to be maximized to the entire display. Minimize them, then maximize them again and they expand offscreen.
- Like others have said, it would be nice if the menu bar didn't appear every time a user launches a new app. And it would be good if the app's window positioning automatically accounted for the presence/absence of the menu bar.
And that's just what I've encountered in the past two hours.
I really wish this had been issued as a beta for testing before the dev started charging $5 for it. Yeah, it's relatively cheap, but it's got too many glitches to make me feel entirely comfortable with using it.

Type: CommentsDate: 24 Aug 2006 03:56Yeah, I've submitted countless requests for the menubar pager because I find every other pager implementation annoying. You'd think it'd be fairly simple, but then, I'm not a developer.
Until then, I'm stuck with Desktop Manager.

Type: ReviewDate: 24 Jan 2006 05:40This (a7) is the first version of Books 3 that I've tried, and for software in alpha state, it's still highly useable. Books 3 corrects some of the inconveniences of its forerunner with, for example, multiple at-a-glance lists, great Spotlight integration and a fairly customizable two-pane, e-mail-like view. Opening and saving collections is now just as it should be: instant. And I really like the plug-in architecture -- this has amazing potential with export/import formats. (On that note, the forthcoming J2ME export for phones and PDAs ought to be great.) But I can't understand why ISBN isn't available as a column view choice, or the bottom pane (a plug-in, unfortunately, not in editable HTML format) should offer little more information than the top one.
Multiple autofill doesn't seem to be there yet (Books 2 never quite nailed this) and good ol' HTML export is no longer an option due to the somewhat more elaborate Books Server. Also, the 22.5MB(!) disk image could be slimmed by half with a non-source code version.
Minor flaws considered -- hey, it's still in alpha -- I still prefer this over Readerware, Booxter and the more beautiful but less practical Delicious Library. Books 3 is coming along nicely, and in its final release stage will likely provide many more features than its competitors at an unbeatable price. For my personal library it's just right. though I'd really like to know what bookstore owners think of it. I should think that it's worthy enough to be billed as the recommended Mac software on ABE.
